IMO, if this is really to be a baited BEAR, then I want a bear which is wily and cogent of its surroundings, and is able to act accordingly. Kudos to our Bear for being wily enough in recognizing this advantage for him, and to be able to take advantage of it!

Just opened the turn and see the election.

The two candidates are Enigma and smacksim.

I don't understand. Other people had voted for HongHu. But I don't get to vote for myself. What's the deal? Is the election rigged?

I'm not going to do anything more until I see an explanation.

Smacksim has recently planted his bases and gotten more votes than you that's why he's overtaken you as an candidate. I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about that.

But then who do the other's votes go for? I guess they are abstained? It looked to me like I was the only one building a base in 2102, based on the number of votes. Everyone but E_N had 0 votes. This is interesting b/c I'm sure someone else had made a base that year.

Too bad about abstaining, but we wouldn't have added up to EN's 9 votes unless we'd all built already....hmmm.

I have 4 votes, and Raptor have 2 votes. If two others have had 2 votes we would be able to get more votes. Oh well. Whatever. I have never thought that an election can have its candidates changed in the middle. What a buggy game.

Do you think that if next turn I disband my bases it'll keep going? We could suspend the election forever that way. Wish that would work in this country. I'd move house pronto.

I sent the turn to Enigma. I sent both the zip file, and the .sav file, in hopes of not having to waste another day, resending. I voted for Smacksim, by the way. And I think I made a big boo boo, in the strategy department, but heck, it's just a game.

Must be one of those bizarre SMAC things where the EOF byte is embedded by chance in there somewhere.

I did. I accidentally tried to open the save with Smax. I think it's best if I say that right now, in case it's my fault. But it seemed to play fine when I then opened it with Smac. No turn complaint or anything. And it seemed to play fine after my turn. But feel free to associate the problem with this incident if nothing else can be found . I sure hope I didn't break it. I'm very very careful for the most part, but I got a little over-excited with a bunch of emails from Darsnan.
