Turn 222: 1070 AD Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Starting this early... I'm most likely looking for replacement again. I anticipate the turn arriving here somewhere this weekend, but I fear that starting from tomorrow night, I will have no time whatsoever before Sunday evening. The reason is that I'm turning 30 this Saturday, and I've got a bit of a birthday party planned. But, some of my friends will stay over, so the party more or less starts Friday after work, and will continue for 2 days

As you can imagine, I'm not going to play PTWDG turns in the mean time. I hope someone will jump in

I just received the save... couldn't be any worse in timing, I just arrived at work. In case it would have been an hour earlier, I would have played before leaving, now it will have to wait in case I'll play, to Saturday at the earliest, and probably Sunday evening.

Are we going to mobilize? In that case, I'll post a message on the public forum, asking for forgiveness for being late

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

OK, try for a birthday extension. I'm sure the other teams will be OK. If there's a big fuss, I can play the turn tomorrow morning.

I'm off to an England v W.Indies cricket match now (Cricket = Strange British bat & ball game incomprehensible outside the 19th century empire).

wow... just had a bit of a personal disaster, I'm not in the mood to continue with the save... maybe I'll explain later. For the moment, I'm off to bed, and I'll play it tomorrow morning.

This is quite unpleasant, having to delay playing because of a double party, and the day after hear this...

Next post will be the turnreport I was working on (didn't get very far), which I will edit tomorrow.

BTW, just an update: I was calculating if it wasn't better to delay mobilization for one turn, or to ask for rubber next turn. It looks like most of the extra shields would go to waste, as the cities aren't prepared.

Full PM-box? Change here!

okay, I didn't mobilize. I counted things, and it seems it would have led to lots of waste, and not many good things to build. As arts will reportedly not be affected by mobilization, I did change as much as possible to arts. Next turn mobilization is better, especially if we get rubber in the mean time. This means we can change to tanks and infs where possible.

If I was in better shape, I might have done it anyway, but curently, the little gain is not worth it IMHO. Next turn should be better....

defense plan, first iteration. Comments please!

Start

- RP sends 100 gold. Send our WM. Can't send horses.

- EotS builds rifle, starts rifle (preliminary)

- Cyclone builds worker, starts worker (last one)

- D-ville builds transport. Starts destroyer (preliminary)

- Elipolis builds hospital. Starts cathedral (preliminary)

- Tempest builds rifle. Starts rifle (preliminary)

- Arashi builds rifle. Starts rifle (preliminary)

- 2233 gold, 90%, 888 bpt, -273 gpt. (Mass prod in 2 of 4) 1779/3360 beakers collected
tech cost

shortrushes

forces
(- 7 knights, 12 MI, 2 galley)
- 8 art
- 37 workers (+1/turn)
- 1 settlers (+.2/turn)
- 76 rifle (+2.5/turn)
- 12 galleon
- 7 destroyer (+1.83/turn)
- 9 transports (+1/turn)

- Strong in strength to GoW, average to ND, and weak to Lego. Forting all our units didn't help

Moves
In general, the specific worker moves are not covered anymore, it gets too tedious. Only important stuff is mentioned.

- irr Hurricane 1

- mine Monsoon 3

- one worker added to Elipolis

- RP didn't move off their hill, so it has no fort.
- rest of our workers skipped turn.

in total, 5 more forests remain. Our workers are becoming obsolete, everything is done. Radio in ~7 turns, after which we'll convert them to radar towers

- Horatio now has 2 destroyers next to it. We also spotted a Lego transport right off their coast.
- transport from D-ville moves to Inchoff
- destroyer in Sufa fortify

workforce shuffles
- Cyclone set back to ideal pattern (needs this every turn).

- Elipolis takes all shields from Inchon again. Inchon moves to coast

Current Builds
long term plans for our cities

Eli : catyhedral in 3
Inchon : aqua in 27
WoC : Carrier in 1 (Carrier (with knight disbanding) next (eta 225)
Inchoff : market in 2. (explorers next?)
D-ville : art in 2
Santa Ana : Battlefield Medicine in 3. (Tanks next)
Blizzard : destroyer in 2. (destroyer next, eta 227? only when needed! Alternative is changing to BS, with knight and 12g eta 226)
Monsoon : art in 1
Arashi : art in 2
WW : art in 1
Tempest : art in 1
SS: settler in 5 (eta-1 will happen)
Hurricane : transport in 1. (destroyer next, eta 225 with knight rush)
OG : art in 1
EotS : art in 1
Bolderberg :art in 1
Cyclone: worker in 1
Tornado : destroyer in 3. units next
Typhoon : destroyer in 1 (destroyer next, eta 226)
Sufa : market in 90

Other

- in F11, we're #3 in production at 697 Megatons. (last turn 691).

Next Turn
-mob, and adjust everything

- also, CH, could you ask MZ to send us rubber this turn? We could use it next... it would be better to mobilize

In case that anyone is interested: the reason why I'm currently not in the mood to play the save.

I told you that I went to Barcelona 2 weeks ago... which was nice, with a girl I don't exactly consider my girlfriend, but more then just a friend.

She just called me... and while I thought that we were free to have a common hotel room and bed in Barcelona, I just heared that in reality she met her 'true love' just 2 days before. Even if I did not know that, I feel like I abused our friendship, and I feel very dirty to took advantage of the situation. I'm not the person who has one night stands, so you can imagine this came as a shock... All of a sudden I degraded from boyfriend to be, to someone who took advantage of a naive and overly sweet girl

I wish she told me before certain things happened, as currently I'm sitting here with a bottle of whiskey, wondering why I didn't notice it beforehand. I understand she was not terribly eager to tell me, so I feel partly responsible.

And the most sad thing about it: she is the girl I'm destined to leave to Thailand with in little over a month. Talk about an awkward situation. We share a bungalow on the beach, next to some palm trees.

Anyway, sorry about my ramblings, I don't know why I want to share my little weird situation with you guys (who have met their share of rli the past year, far worse then mine), I just had to tell it somewhere.

bah

Been there buddy, been there. You shouldn't feel guilty about anything you did, she was a willing participant (I assume!)

is it just you and the girl in Thailand, or are there others on the trip? Talk about awkward.

Don't feel guilty about posting this stuff, its a bit theraputic, being able to post where you are mostly anonymous.

The good news is she is not your wife. I have a few friends that had their wife tell them they found their true love.

Anyway, if she is of age and wants to act like an adult, she has to take the lumps that come with it.

She was a willing participant alright, which makes it all the more stranger. And it was not that things happened because of too much alcohol or so. I know I couldn't help it, but you simply can't not feel guilty after you hear something like that. I'm sorry for the other guy, which I unvoluntarily 'cheated' on. Oh, and of course I know him too, which will be fun the first couple of times I see him.

And yes... Thailand will be only the two of us. Barcelona was supposed to be a test case, to see if we could do something like that all alone. Sigh.

Anyway... more time for the game again

cheers,

Actually I was referring back to an earlier story of yours, DeepO. ISTR you having a GF last year who was not too bright, and you suggested to her that she had some difficulty with her shoelaces, which didn't go down too well.

Tired of ads?

Sorry - shoelace story wrongly attributed.

Nearest I've had to your situation, DeepO, was a holiday romance with a beauty from Liverpool. Trouble was, I never heard until later that she still had a boyfriend - and the boyfriend before last hadn't entirely cleared the picture either.

I was invited up to Liverpool one weekend and there was an enraged drunken scouser (also in the British Army) trying to hammer down the door. Nice. Lucky they have stout doors in Liverpool - but OPD could tell us all about that

Another time on a cold winter night I went up there and she wasn't in - 'forgot and went to a party' - apparantly. I spent the night in the car waiting but only got a cold for my efforts.

If only she was a holiday romance, I would probably never see her again. The problem is she is one of my dearest friends. But like I said, even if the guilty feeling will probably not disappear the coming days, and I don't have a clue how to handle the Thailand situation, it's relatively ok now. Last night was a shock, but I normally recover fast

Wow, DeepO, definitely awkward.

Closest I've had was a trip through Europe with my recently ex-girlfriend (we broke up a few weeks before leaving). We'd booked everything (one room, one bed), so we went ahead.

It was a little strange. But then so was our relationship by that point. Man, what a mess.

...

By the way, in case anyone cares, I'm now formally engaged. I say "formally" since it was a long time in coming, and was no surprise to anyone who knew us. She likes the ring, though, which is good. She BETTER FREAKING LIKE IT!! The jewelry business is such a racket.

Ok, I had to get that out. I'm better now.
