They decided that only the Dinosaur Handler would have had the almost god-like strength necessary to force Muldoon into the irradiator, so they decided to kill him. Unfortunately, they were bored of pushing people out the helicopter, so they wanted a more original solution.
A few of them came to the swimming pool, which spilled over into a series of waterfalls and smaller rocky pools. There they drowned him.
"Is this extraordinary?" Ed Regis said. "Especially on a misty day, these plants really contribute to the prehistoric atmosphere. These are authentic Jurassic ferns, of course."
Dr. Satler paused to look more closely at the ferns. Yes, it was just as he said?: Serenna veriformans, a plant found abundantly in fossils more than two hundred million years old, now common only in the wetlands of Brazil and Colombia. "But whoever decided to place this particular fern at a poolside obviously didn't know that the spores of veriformans contain a deadly beta-carboline alkalkoid. Even touching the fronds can make you sick, and if a child were to take a mouthful, it would almost certainly die," said Dr. Satler.
"Oh," said Ed Regis, a bit abashed. "Well, I'll have to inform our personnel of this, until we can do something about the ferns."

The warning didn't do much; the next morning they found the Helicopter Pilot dead among the ferns. He'd died of exposure to the poison, concluded Dr. Satler.
Everyone left alive, except for Malcom, was become increasingly religious - some held deep convictions. The park guide even said, "Maybe God didn't intend for us to mess with things he'd made extinct. Maybe we should all leave now."
