Easy choice from the way I look at it...Alexander. The weakest on the list would be close between Napolean and Atilla

Anyone else want to make any stupid claims?

By the way, why is Alexander an easy choice compared to say, Ghengis Khan?

Alexander brought civilization with him, as well as being a conquerer among the best. Ceasar can claim something similar, but given the resources of Rome can't compare to Alexander.
khan, while a brutal conquerer, brought little else.

Alexander - marching a Greek army in 350 bc all the way from Hellas to India via Egypt and Central Asia, fighting all the way, is one of the greatest feats of arms of all time. An achievement never equalled.

Khan brought some roads and stuff in some areas. The myth that he destroyed all infastructure for centuries is just that, a myth. He wasn't a civilizer by any means, but he wasn't just barbarian.

We're talking about conquerors not empires, the longevity of their conquests are irrelevant as I see it.

The Khan was amazing, the Mongol empire as a whole would have more of my admiration if Kubla Khan hadn't cocked up in Japan.

They relied too heavily on "luck" and not on real military greatness- both benefited from massive plagues taking their enemies down left and right and political chaos amongst the ranks of their enemies (like the Inca Civil War that had just edned brought about by European diseases).

A lot of those factors are factors in other great conquests too. To a lesser degree perhaps, but chance plays a part in all of history.
