I honestly don't know enough history to really go into it all. But Atilla benefited from decades of decline in Rome and previous barbarian invasions.

If I'm not mistaken, I think there was some political discord in the Arab world that the Mongols benefited from, plus I believe the Plague was affecting Europe around the same time as the Mongol invasion.

Napoleon got some of his conquests through political alliances and marriage I believe, as opposed to straight conquest.

Caeser... oh hell, he pretty much just conquered France, right? Not in league with the others.

I think there were some political divisions in the people the early Muslims conquered too that helped them out.

As for Alexander, I dunno.

And I may be wrong on some or many of the above facts, and there may be many more facts that I just don't know about. But I do know that fate/luck/environmental factors always plays a big part in things like this.

Khan. He did pretty good for not having advance weaponry. And he really only had one method of attacking. His forces were not diverse. Yet he did pretty damn well for himself despite these weaknesses in his forces.

Here's an even tougher question. Who was the worst conqueror.

I'd like to here an answer to that one.

the poll has nothing to do with civilization. It's based off pure conquering ability. **** civilization.

Yeah, but his tactics were something that the people he conquered had never seen or expected.

that's why he's the greatest.

Kami for hair, kami for paper and kami for god aren't the same word, but merely homophones. They use different kanji to represent each.

I have to go with Alexander

The amount of ground he covered in a short period of time, the enemies he took down and the terrain he had to deal with were an unequalled accomplishment.

All Alexander did was conquer a bunch of lightweight scrubs, he couldn't even beat the Indians. Hell, the British beat the Indians.

Temujin on the other hand, pwned RUSSIANS. Dude, hardly anyone pwns the Russians. Temujin was just like "Rooskies? WTF? These guys are just n00bs." And then he want all beserker rage on them, totally upper-cutting all these guys.

Plus Temujin had the single greatest biological impact on the human race of any single person ever, with 16 million living men carrying his Y-chromosome. All Alexander did was play around with his nubile young male lovers.
