Yes Michael, killing the ARVN was one of the greatest successes of the liberal Democrat Congress who cut off military support to South Vietnam so that the average soldier had only few bullets to shoot when the NVA launched their final offensive. You should've seen a high fives that the likes of Ted Kennedy and George McGovern gave each other. John Kerry had a big party to celebrate as a last South Vietnamese copter to plunged into the sea. Even today, you sound overjoyed at the victory of the North Vietnamese as you kiss John Kerry butt and tell him that he's a great war hero for shooting his fellow soldiers in the back.

Hey, Gung-ho-cuz-I-don't-have-to-go, if you call losing control of four major cities to enemy forces a strawman, then you need your head examined.

If you call ongoing American KIAs a strawman, then I suggest you try that rhetoric out at their funerals and see how many teeth you leave with.

Bullshit - the ARVN was riddled with incompetence, cowardice, corruption, and enemy infiltrators from the outset, before the US even got involved. And the "liberal Democrat Congress" poured tens of billions down the RVN/ARVN sewers for over a decade. Most rational people realize at some point that enough is enough.

Yesss. And I'm sure they drank the blood of Palestinian babies and crushed their bones into bread mix, too. Argh!

On a slightly more serious note, I find it interesting how quickly MtG is dismissed by some here, considering he's one of the few in our ranks who has actual military service and experience.

It looks like Kerry's message was received by his fellow travelors:

"Addressing the U.N. General Assembly in a largely empty room Friday, Allawi said terrorists were seeking to "destroy the aspirations of our people and to destroy the physical infrastructure of Iraq and to stop the economic life in Iraq and to create a state of tension, panic, instability." (Full story)"

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast...main/index.html

Empty room. Says it all.

I note your glee, MtG, at the fall of South Vietnam. Now you say we need to succeed in Iraq because of the OIL. This doesn't make sense, as we could withdraw tomorrow, let Zarqawi succeed, and his new al Qaeda regime would pump as much oil as it could so that Zarqawi could finance legions of true believers who would do their best to destroy the United States. The real reason we need to succeed is that Iraq is central to the war on terror.

Not Palestinian babies. Ted Kennedy and his ultra liberal compatriots wail loudly every time a Palestinian is killed by an Israeli. They support any enemy of Israel or of the United States with total commitment.

The "strawman," MtG, is that Bush said that everything was hunky-dory in Iraq when he gave that speech with the sign "Mission Accomplished" hanging in the background. That sign referred only to the military victory over Saddam's armed forces.

Kerry's trashing of our allies, such as Musharraf and now Allawi, raises the concern of whether he can maintain the "Coalition of the Willing" if he becomes president.

I'd listen to him, since he would be the president of the most powerful nation on Earth. I'm sure as hell not going to look more favorably upon him than I looked on Bush, though, which is what Kerry swears will happen.

Look at how the Veterans of Vietnam despise Kerry for what he said about them in '71. I suspect he will have a major problem with the Coalition if he becomes president because they too will despise him.

It's pretty pathetic that y'all are criticizing Kerry for not giving enough fellatios to thugs and dictators, and being too close to the democratic states that opposed the war. Your talking points have become a parody of themselves. It really says a lot about Republicans' contempt for democracy.

Anyways, not that I give a **** about Musharraf's opinion on the matter, but you might be interested that WaPo just interviewed him:

quote:
Do you think the war in Iraq was a good idea, and how do you think it has affected the area?

I think it has complicated the situation in the Islamic world. It has increased the opposition to the U.S. in the Islamic world.

Most of the states in what Kerry has dubbed the "fradulent coaltion" are democracies and it includes America's best and most trustworthy allies, states like the UK, Australia and Japan. So much for your "point"...

I have no idea what you're referring to. You and Ned just brought up Musharraf and Allawi for apparantly no reason, and were whining that Kerry didn't bend over for them.

Pakistani troops aren't in Iraq last time I checked, and straight from the horse's mouth in the aforementioned article, Musharraf doesn't plan on sending troops there anytime soon. So much for your "point"....
