Sorry, but Greece is not going to stay alive as a second-rate empire. Boxed in from four sides, it was obvious from early-on that we would eventually become a second-rate empire if we did not do something about it.

So we gambled and tried to do the only thing that we could do to change things, and we failed. Now, we are prepared to die as a punishment, but we are not going to give any compensation gifts in order to stay alive. If we wanted to do that, we would have never attacked in the first place.

Still holding the turn, waiting for Egypt's response.

you would probably loose 2 cities anyhow in the coming turn, my demands are actually very mild.

and you're not a second-rate empire at all. with you GA and all your libraries you're still "up there". and your superior diplomatic situation (having convinced _really_ boxed in players to keep their units at home despite the very weakly defended borders) makes you a first-rate civ (together with carthage and persia who have more space)...

just a question: is gifting cities actually allowed? afaik in the regular games you can only sue for peace with cities, otherwise they are unobtainable.

also, with my units right next to some undefended towns i wouldn't think it very nice to suddenly face rome and egypt and have to declare war or withdraw after having faced the costs and huge losses of the current war.

Since we are not following Iron Civer rules, I don't think there is a problem with city gifts.

So Greece has decided to swallow her pride and try and survive as a second-rate nation after all. It is our understanding that everyone else will have more fun that way. We are currently in peace negotiations with Persia, although the terms have not been settled.

Also, sorry to slow down the game, but I will be gone for two weeks starting tomorrow.

I have not heard from sabre since my first proposal on December 18th, so I sent him another e-mail today.

In any event, Sir Ralph, I don't think you should hold on to the game any more. Peace negotiations might take a few turns. If you are concerned that I will gift cities to Egypt and Rome but not to you, you shouldn't be: I will not gift any cities to anyone, and I will try my best to survive.

oh my, i've got another PTW problem. this time it's something with the "labels.txt" file as all text labels get screwed up

can someone tell me what to do (all things found by googling did not work) or better yet: email me the correct file.

on this computer i didn't install PTW separately but using conquests, so i'll need the file from anyone who has the same setup (and english version please)
