On the scale of the Empire a city would be equal to or smaller than a planet.
I am aware of the goals of the project for a new american century. I get my viewpoint from what I gathered reading documents from, on, or about the thinktank.

The empire had a "thousand thousand" inhabited systems, most with multiple planets, under its juristiction. And it should be remembered that the Empire did not control all the galaxy.
Alderran, which wasn't even in the core so not one of the most populated worlds, would be more like a small village in Eastern China. Its importantace was souly due to the political savvy of Bale Organa, a famous politician. Similar to Naboo, just another back water world with a few famous politicians.
The attrocity of Alderaan is equivalant to a soldier killing A civilain unjustly in our world taking scale into account. Wrong, yes, but hardly damning by any means. Tell me one political entity on out planet who hasn't had the same happen over and over. Plus, as has been pointed out, it was a time of war.
Now since the Rebellion has all the trapping of a Galactic Al Queda, why do we not see the most certainly present acts of terrorism against the innocent?
Because the movies are made up of excerts from GALACTIC CNN, I want to see the GALACTIC FOX NEWS version, and then the GLACTIC CSPANN version for the truth.

Galactic al-Qaeda? In which episode do the Rebellion soldiers resort to suicide bombing? In which episode do they commit atrocities? In which episode do they behead hostages? In which episode do they demand that the galaxy convert to their religion?

Patroklos,
I believe that we are on the same side of this discussion. Maybe I worded my response in a way that made you think differently. My comments were directed at Imran

RANDAL
Now the first one they built was
completed and fully operational
before the Rebels destroyed it.
DANTE
Luke blew it up. Give credit where
it's due.
RANDAL
And the second one was still being
built when they blew it up.
DANTE
Compliments of Lando Calrissian.
RANDAL
Something just never sat right with
me the second time they destroyed
it. I could never put my finger on
it-something just wasn't right.
DANTE
And you figured it out?
RANDAL
Well, the thing is, the first Death
Star was manned by the Imperial
army-storm troopers, dignitaries-
the only people onboard were
Imperials.
DANTE
Basically.
RANDAL
So when they blew it up, no prob.
Evil is punished.
DANTE
And the second time around...?
49.
RANDAL
The second time around, it wasn't
even finished yet. They were still
under construction.
DANTE
So?
RANDAL
A construction job of that magnitude
would require a helluva lot more
manpower than the Imperial army had
to offer. I'll bet there were
independent contractors working on
that thing: plumbers, aluminum
siders, roofers.
DANTE
Not just Imperials, is what you're
getting at.
RANDAL
Exactly. In order to get it built
quickly and quietly they'd hire
anybody who could do the job. Do
you think the average storm trooper
knows how to install a toilet main?
All they know is killing and white
uniforms.
DANTE
All right, so even if independent
contractors are working on the
Death Star, why are you uneasy with
its destruction?
RANDAL
All those innocent contractors
hired to do a job were killed-
casualties of a war they had
nothing to do with.
(notices Dante's confusion)
All right, look-you're a roofer,
and some juicy government contract
comes your way; you got the wife
and kids and the two-story in
suburbia-this is a government
contract, which means all sorts of
benefits. All of a sudden these
left-wing militants blast you with
lasers and wipe out everyone within
a three-mile radius.
50.
RANDAL (CONT'D)
You didn't ask for that. You have
no personal politics. You're just
trying to scrape out a living.

1. I don't hate the U.S. or think it's evil. It's just facts.
2. I respect your opinion Dino but my point of view is based on reading the news, history and going to the website. It's not party rhetoric, since, I'm not really a democrat.
3. I am an anti-imperialist and based on the record PNAC promotes the idea of an american empire that cares little for anything other than maintaining american dominance.
4. As George Barnard Shaw once wrote in a play. In order for Great Britain to be the most powerful country in the world they just have to maintain the status qou. This holds true for the U.S. Destabilizing countries and causing confusion across the globe will maintain american power.
