Arrian, please stop answering the Legonians! Let them speculate what they want, no need to give them anything more then strictly needed.

As to the cancellation: yes, it was a mistake of ours. I don't recall anyone mentioning it, it was just an oversight... too long ago, and we forgot to check. Never mind, we're not perfect either... and Lego won't be harmed because we declared war immediately.

No need to be sorry, it's just that they are easily offended, it seems. In case GoW declares war in a few hours, this might escalate very quickly...

Put an end to popups!

I don't see anyone being offended so far. Lego is reacting very calmly. Vondrack understands, for sure.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the other shoe drops (GoW's DoW).

It all depends on GoW. If they come in this turn with us, then we have nothing to complain about, win or lose.

If they do not come in or side against us, then we will be hucklberry (Doc Holiday). I would then move to make peace with Lego and attack GoW.

MZ declared war, and took 3 IR. Those Battle Reports at least guarantee us one thing: GoW really declared war Now let's hope it's not some sharade, so we can have fun on Legoland!

I wonder how Lego is going to respond

Well that is at least not a bad thing for us that MZ hit them. Now Lego will have to do some sweating.

I am hoping that ND will see that they are best served by coming with us.

All very good so far.

Beware two things. First, vondrack, and many on Lego, stand to be hurt if this goes against them. VonD's response to GoW showed signs of emotion already. Please continue to be considerate as all have done to this point.

Second, and more ominously... GoW sank 3 or 4 iron clads. Good. That gives us zero assurance that there is no MZ evil plan afoot. We could very well sail on next turn only to have the result be a GoW and/or ND marine assault against Stormia, together with a Lego/GoW/ND fleet to sink our forces. That could result in us being taken out in a few short turns.

I am not intending to mount an arguement against continuing, full force, towards the prosecution of the Lego war. In truth we have no choice now, and have not had for some time. Rather I urge that we be gracious if victory deems fit to visit us, and maintain dignity if defeat becomes our companion.

In short, don't be shocked if we get it between the shoulder blades. If we do, let us give some credit to our reputations by congratulating the winners while quietly taking notes for future repayments is considered optional.

I agree, nye. So far the mood remains friendly, and there is no problem whatsoever with posting a few amusing stories. But you feel the tension already, and someone is going to get hurt emptionally.

I found MZ's remark fitting: that he enjoyed a little verbal bickering, but that last time half the team left because of it. I think everyone who was in a war before, will try to show restraint. But if all goes well, this war is going to take weeks, if not months...

As to MZ's evil plan: all the signs are there, and we've seen nothing so far to indicate it isn't a evil plan. However, there is one thing that was never present, and remains absent to this day: a clear motive to attack us. Attacking Lego is obvious: take out #1, or at least damage him to a level where he is no longer a threat. But what is there to gain from attacking us? The only thing we've got is the most powerful army in the world, and we are at the top of our military power. If you want to invade Stormia, it would be best to do so once the Lego war is over, or nearing the end.

But GoW have never shown to be the most logical thinkers... I too would welcome absolute proof they are with us, instead of opposed to us.

This is why is best to proceed on the basis that they are with us, until the Lego is defeated. That is the time to worry, before then there is nothing to be done.

We all agreed that taking Stormia is of little value towards winning. Lego does not need it and GoW can't win with it alone.
They would also put themselves in danger from the others if they attacked us.

I would submit that the more we post in the general thread, the more likely it is that it will get ugly. It started off well, but can only go down hill.

Many of us have been in those threads as they go from bad to worse. It is hard to stop once they start to smell and it becomes personal.

A thought on the 24 hour rule:

Everyone knows civs turns take longer as the game progresses, and that late-game wars and economies in particular can be incredibly complicated and time consuming to manage to the optimum.

Maybe all teams could formally acknowledge that 24 hours is not always enough time for warring civs to play their turns, especially now that battle reports are part of the machinery and at this mature phase of the game.

A reasonable duration of the time-extension might be up for discussion, or we could start by seeing how it goes for a turn or two. The idea would be to avoid a nagging/apology cycle, whilst hoping that teams wouldn't abuse the extra time allowed.

Let's wait a bit before we start discussing an extension to the 24h. All the teams get those battle reports, and will no doubt be planning their next move. It could be that the 24h is more or less respected.

GoW is bombarding Lego's shores, it seems. while it looks like just a bit of fun, we might try to check this next turn, to spot if Jackson 87 is reachable, and is still unimproved (it should be)

It doesn't really rule out foul play from them, this could just as easily be a distraction for us.

I still think it's a strange move, though. Sure, any harrassment is great in a war, and if you can't do something useful, have some fun (it was only 1 tile, so without big effect). However, in this case it nearly pinpoints their position on the map. They can only bomb one tile, so all neighbouring tiles are out of reach... I'm sure that with a bit of screenshot peeping you get the exact position of their fleet, or at least only a few positions where they can be. They must feel quite comfortable with their escort of 14(?) DDs... I know we're not comfortable with our escort of 11.

I don't have the game up right now, but is that tile not reachable from a land based bomber? If not, then it may have been an oversight by MZ. Or he could be thinking that they will be looking for the location and he wants them to do it.

Anyway I did not mean that it rules out any chicanry, only it does probably mean they are serious about the war with Lego.

I just checked an old screenshot I've got laying around, so this is not updated information from the current turn. in 1090 AD (last screenshot of Lego I've got), that tile is a coal source. It is exactly 6 tiles from the Southern most tip of Little Bob... if GoW has an airfield there, this could have been a land-based attack. It could not come from any other land tile.

This is not the only Lego tile which could be reached from this location, though. There are a couple of mountains GoW can bomb... but none of those tiles have such large an impact on the economy. All of the rest are worked by Castlea, a city which is btw also in range. But sabotaging production in Jackson means that Lego will have to shortrush something during build phase, or loses a build in a fine tuned city.

nice harrassment

while I was looking at that Lego map, something else (not exactly at its place here, but nm): There is no way Lego would divert its BB stack towards GoW, unless they would be thinking GoW attacks Port Hammer or Panama. The fork of Jackson and Dye fields which GoW is aiming for can't be reached... it would take them 4 turns to get there (let alone attack), while GoW only needs 2-3. Those BBs are looking for us, without much doubt.

Well... they could also serve as escort for those 15 transports Lego has laying around, of course
