I'm now for the legalisation of guns and sword swords in the UK.
I was beaten up today by a gang of four dilenquent, burberry clad townies as I was walking back home from the town centre. Had to go through a relatively rough neighbourhood to reach the nicer suburbs where I live about two or three miles from there. Said townies approach me with the usual crap including "do you want a fight", in their slack jawed, mentally difficient "dead or incarcerated" voices and proceeded to punch me. I hit back, I got one in the nose pretty good and I might have broken another's jaw, but 4 dilenquents against 1 non fighter, big guy as he is, isn't much of a fight, I went down, they kicked me repeatedly until they buggered off for some reason with my phone and cd player. That was about two and a half hours ago, maybe more I lose track of time sometimes.
Don't worry, I'm fine, my nose was bleeding pretty badly for almost an hour and I'm worry about one of my ribs but no permanent harm. I can't go to the police because technically I think I did them more damage and it's my word against theirs, though admittedly, as snobby as this sounds, my RP accent is likely to cut more ice than their slack jawed Northamptonian drawl. Anyway I can't really be bothered anyway, I'm happier that I hurt them than I would be if I was just a victim.
Anyway all that aside, and the fact that I'm ****ing angry at the moment, I've been thinking how easier it would have been with a revolver and four small lumps of metal. They negate my responsibility to them to not kill them when they attack me.
I figure it makes sense that people are nicer to each other when they have the ability to kill each other at the touch of a button.
So I think handguns/revolvers (I don't know much about guns so probably some Americans could help me out here) should be legalised, but only for law abiding, upstanding people who have proved themselves good, reasonable people and not dilenquent... so obviously criminals and the undesireably element should be forbidden ownership. Now obviously they can get guns anyway illegally and they can be easily hidden which does suck.
However, I've been thinking of short swords. Four unarmed teenagers against one man with a rapier aren't going to get very far, plus you are effectively saying, "attack me, and I have the choice between beheading you, disembowling you, castrating you or simply impaling you", which will make them think twice against the innocent people they attack.
Indeed, such measures would also help reduce the needless violence on Britains streets fuelled by alcohol (which should also be denied to the undesireable element). So a few townies are going to die, like I give a ****.
Now some of you are going to say "well what about the mill limit and peace and love for all", well that's just an intellectual, artistic position. This is the real world, where most people are too stupid to think for themselves, and little more than children with bigger muscles and shoes. Children need parents, rules and discipline.

Right. Legalise guns, so thta when this happens again, they'll have guns to. Now THAT will be fun.
How is it different if everyone has a gun, aside from the fact that people wont survive experiences like you just lived? 
You know, someone faught someone else somedaty. And that person lost, so he made a weapon so it would'nt happen again.
The next time, he used that weapon, he won. But the opponent made a bigger weapon, and on, and on, and on.
Discusting.

The whole thing about gun legislation is that it doesn't keep the guns out of the hands of criminals, just out of good people's hands. If someone thinks you have a gun you are less likely to be robbed. Unless they're homicidal maniacs, they're going to go for the path of less resistence.

Well the idea is that they wouldn't be allowed them whereas I would be... but yes they could get them illegally, which is a problem... but then, none more so than today. However, I suspect that most of the dilenquents in the US and UK today who do use guns have little idea of proper technique that qualified gun owners or US police officers etc have... so for those that are allowed guns in the UK perhaps they should also be trained in fast drawing and accurate shooting etc.

Four on one? Ideally these people (undoubtably problem students) should be locked away in educational prisons until the age of 21... it's not like their parents are remotely competant anyway, but obviously thats not so good for the economy so for the while they're going to be roaming the streets without fearing the consequences of their delinquency. I don't think that's right.

I never thought I'd read such a post from you.
. But like I said, fighting isn't good, but it sure beats dying or getting serious injury to me.... cos in that situation, I value my life a hell of a lot more than I value theirs. Sounds harsh and sad but it's the truth about how these things work.
