Managed to bump the giant off with my level 5 Pally today, backed up by the level 5 sorc. I still cant understand why the orc numb nuts decides to fight the giant in melee I just dumped healing kits into myself whenever I got close to half health, and hoped I never got critted.

I did the Jnah fight this time round (with the gnolls ) First time round I just slaughtered all the gnolls in a CE kind of way

I killed the hart because I'm an evil ranger!
I'm now a swamp ranger, and hate all of the stupid forest creatures. It was a small misunderstanding, of course, but the dumb-ass druids weren't prepared to see my side of things.

I'm currently tracking down J'nah rule, and have just bumped off a water elemental in the corner. I expect to make full use of my gnollish allies when I reach the sorceress though. As cannon fodder. Muhahaha....

Plus I find it goes much more smoothly in the run up to the battle if you have the extra xp from the North first.

forgot about that. That's why the fight usually isn't too hard for me. That and the gnolls makes this fight not too bad. I just use the item and back up to get out of the line of fire.

I always kill the dragon too. I just like killing things.

Yeah, but in playing computer games I like things to be escapist - I don't want to spend my spare time killing things with magical destruction as well as doing it at work.



Well I had quite a bit of bother against the water elemental so maybe I ought to go and visit the hills to find the dragon first. Though I'm tempted to kill the dragon too..... once he's outlived his usefulness.

I'll tell you what one thing Im dissapointed about is I was expecting something like the freedom to roam around like in BG1 (I never really got past the first dungeon in BG2) I liked wandering around and finding my own adventure and whatnot. Never really a great fan of linearity hence my love of MP I suppose.

So we've got this first section thats essentialy 6 main screens +plus a couple of dungeons and houses, then onto the 'interlude' bit that doesnt seem too large right now. I imagine we are going to be following what is essentialy a linear adventure from here on in, right?

Well I had a chat with the dragon last night, and have a very useful powder to use against F'nah Fnarr, which was jolly good of him. I also ended up having to kill the chief of the kobolds, which wasn't a particularly difficult scrap. What made it fun, though, was that his death suddenly made all of the other kobold commoners walking around into enemies, so I slaughtered loads of them for hoots.

aramis silently enters the room, sits in the corner all quietlike for a bit, then, during a pause in the conversation, blurts out, in not too loud a voice:

I just finished playing NWN for the first time. That was a cool game. I started SotU last night, and it looks good. These are the first rpgs I've played in maybe ten years.
I picked up NWN Gold late last Summer after stumbling on this thread and becoming curiously fascinated by what was being said. So I took a chance on it.
It took a long time to play because 1, I kept making new characters and trying them out in chapter one; and 2, I got busy with other stuff for a while and had to put it aside. Finally got back to it after New Year's.
Only two minor complaints: pathfinding was, now and then, annoying, and I expected some more to the ending. Sure, after Morag's dead what's the point of going on? But she was only 270+ xp. I thought I'd get sent back to Lord Nascar and his spymaster (Boba Gend? Aarin Fett?) and get bushels of xp and baskets of gold showered on me by Neverwintian nymphs. I was so close to levelling up again.
Levelled up during the 3 modules that came with NWNG, so I'm using the same character for SotU. Lots o' time later to try new characters.
I'm glad I stumbled on this thread whilst lazily lurking around.

aramis sits back down while normal conversation resumes.

You should start a new character for SoU. You can then use that character for HotU, or your original NWN character.

I'm playing through SoU again, and to my credit I have managed to get my girlfriend majorly into it. This means I can play it much more with no fear of grumpiness.

Another feather in the cap of NWN.

The only downside is that you'll end up with two expert backseat drivers and will bicker about the choices the other makes. Though taking the piss when they reload would always be a hoot in my book.
I'm going back into the J'nah (what a mean? - sorry, a rubbish Geordie joke ) dungeon this evening, and haven't got too long until I get to take my first assassin level (), so I'll probably wander around killing some of those flying things before going for the big scrap.
I've just wondered what would happen if you offed the stupid kobold bard with the statue... It would probably ruin the game for you, but hopefully they've made him impossible to kill, and so he starts wielding high-level magic, and kicks your lowly ass if you try to attack him.

I think you can kill him with no problem. Assuming he has the part on him.
