I am with PLATO- let the Soputh go once and for all- then we get rid of them, and sanity reigns in the rest of the nation once again.

Suffering from ads?

TO c/p my post in the other thread ("What would an independent North look like?")

It would be similar to today's US wrt working conditions, corporate governance, and welfare. I don't see any mainstream political voice advocating more stringent policies.
There could be better efforts when it comes to education.
The Independent New England will become the beacon of NAFTA, and will push the most for the FTAA.

Militarily, there would be a tight alliance with the rest of the US. The American domination on the world scene serves the interests of the whole US, and Independent New England will certainly not let this domination slide. A collective decision-making-process in foreign policies will be seen as a necessity, although said decisions will be very difficult to come by.

The State would be seriously more secular, and most religious issues that currently taint the American debate, won't exist there.

A new Political system would be in place. The Constitution would remain mostly intact, but some technicalities will be changed (like the electoral college). Also, the 2nd amendment will undergo a serious change in interpretation.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

It's not a reasonable idea

However, it's an idea that has actually made it into people's heads

There is a storm brewing, with alot of people very angry at the way things are going. Revolution? Probably not. But a major social change could take place in our lifetime.

Earlier in this thread there is one (sorta).

Kerry:

Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont
Massachussetts
Rhode Island
Connecticut
New York
New Jersey
Pennsylvania
Maryland
Washington D.C.
Delaware
Illinois
Michigan
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Nevada
Washington
Oregon
California
Hawaii

The rest voted for monkeyboy. Well, actually I think Iowa is still technically undecided.

OK.
If a civil war breaks out, and USA will drown in chaos, I claim everything from Illinois to New York for Poland.
Israel can get Florida and half of New York.
France will be given Luisiana, Britain everything north to New York, etc,
but I want Maryland and Delaware as my personal Empire.
However, if someone will claim it, I;ll be happy with California too
I'm not greedy

Looking at the county map, I'd say the reds would have an easy time of picking off the scattered blues, piece by piece.

(as this is lsightly discussed in this thread)

How do the red states equate reducing government interference (small government) with receiving federal handouts from the blue states? If they were true republicans wouldn't reject any federal assistance?

That's because the US is like Canada in that regard. Our military is primarily composed of our marginalized redneck yokels and we locate most of our military bases in useless areas that no one else wants either.
