True. There´s just a minor flaw in your assessment:
Why do Americans always compare themselves to single countries when they piss off dozens at a time? At any time there would have been the power to stop the US, even in 1999.

I'm going to have to go with Sad. But see, I don't think I would have felt any different if Kerry was elected, it's like that with a lesser of two evils election. Better the devil you know than the one you don't?

I am optimistic that Bad Things are going to happen, but also nervous given that feeling schadenfreude is quite inappopriate - when Americas economy goes poopy the effects will be quite global. Theres no point in getting frustrated or constipated over it, so I'll stick with sad

I thought that one of the reasons Kerry had trouble connecting with some voters was because he was too patrician

Because getting a coalition of countries together to dick around with us in a concerted way would be pretty tough. Too many agendas and too many sets of perceived self-interest and strategic goals to meld together anything substantial enough to do us any damage.

It's easy to explain. Oliver fled to Britain after the Spanish gave in to terrorists. Why he flies an US flag and not one of Norfolk Island, Tuvalu or Antarctica like everyone else, is however a complete mystery.

First I was happy from what I heard in the exit polls.
Then I was upset when the exit polls turned out to be bunk and Kerry started losing.
Then I started to develop a headache thinking that we would have a repeat of 2000. So I went to sleep.
Woke up and was actually happy to hear that the networks were essentially saying Kerry should give up.
Then I decided to back the winner GWB, After all I do support some of his policies.

Full PM-box? Change here!

some good points about Bush...this may take a few minutes

He has good ideas about restructuring the military. It was stupid of the democrats to critisize removing troops from germany. That just makes good sense.

His wife seems like a decent lady

hmm, I'm having trouble coming up with more

Actually I supported his social security plan over Kerry's. Kerry basically had no plan. I think privatization may be the key (though I haven't looked into the details on how Bush is going to accomplish this).

Tired of ads?

A kind of resigned, bemused schadenfreude- now right thinking (as opposed to Right 'thinking') Americans will understand how I felt when Thatcher was Prime Minister for what seemed such a long unpleasant time.

Alas the consequences for the world and America of a second Babybush term are so serious and potentially dire/disastrous, that any freude I derive from the schade is severely tempered by the fear of what the intellectually challenged 'speaks with god' has in, well I was going to say 'mind', but perhaps 'the pipeline' would be more appropriate.

Perhaps as M.T.G. says, undiluted evangelical Republicanism will create such an unpleasant taste in the American public's mouth that it will spew it out for a good few years after.

I'd say most British people would happily pay for you to have her- perhaps you could let her work her magic on the U.S. and you too could have record levels of post war unemployment and house repossessions.

Oh, and the aggrandizement of the secret state and the erosion of civil liberties, but you seem to be doing well in those respects already...
