"In other words, it is a PBEM mini-exploit."

Indeed.

By the way, it wouldn't be a bad idea if we play a turn now and then

actually a major PBEM exploit. it makes a difference of 30 WW points, which is the equivalent of 2 captured cities!

Byzantine are happy to sign a DMZ agreement that will prohibit our workers and 3 movers from entering the forest without declaring war first.

But we are a tad confused over the Maya's proposal that you can't declare war without shooting first, as for this we'd have to enter the forest anyway. We therefore suggest that if workers or 3 movers enter the forest then the player must cancel the peace treaty in the diplo screen on that same turn. Simple. We would ask that the pink clothed Arabs also sign this agreement.

Ths agreement would allow a few byzantine pikes to occupy the Dutch side of the forest to monitor events, which is sadly necessary during these times of mistrust.

If we are all agreed, the sacred save will be dispatched tonight.

My proposal was stronger due to the placement of junk units in the forest tiles. That placement means you can't enter the tiles without attacking and such an agreement would repair the mini/maxi exploit at least in this sensitive area. (The units involved would be kept in foreign territory.)

By the way, we are definitely not going to sign the version of the agreement Andy proposes. This is a border between the Dutch and the Maya. It's either all units out of the area, or Mayan units in the Dutch tiles and Dutch units in the Mayan tiles. The alternative is no agreement.

We don't really need or require an agreement. We will make one at Sabre's request.

I just thought that there wouldn't be any harm in a few miserly pikes in the forrest. Why don't you want them there? So long as the agreement stands in that no workers or 3 move units then we'll have all achieved our aims.

Suffering from ads?

Let's just assume I'm a stubborn old bastard and move on....anyway I accept Sabre's ''no units in the area" solution. But I don't accept any others in the area.

I don't mean to be impolite. Negotiations, however, have concluded. I've agreed to accept Sabre's position and he can change it to having units on the ground in light of Rommel's comments if he wishes. Otherwise, let's play.

since your proposal excludes all units, it matters little, although you are clearly right

if we don't get 3 signatories to the treaty you proposed, it matters less

Sabre has proposed this reasonable agreement.

A) the DMZ, comprised of the 7 land tiles along our border is to be empty of all units at the end of each person's turn.

B) should one or more units end their turn in the DMZ this is considered a preparation for war. in such a case, the violator has to declare war by cancelling the peace treaty after which he is allowed to do whatever he pleases.

I am hereby signing this proposal.

sorry for the further delay. last night it arrived right before bedtime. today i had a solid 5.25 hour nonstop interview marathon with 9 different people

but it's looking good and now only the CEO is able to ruin my chances

gonna play the turn after 2 hours of floorball and some chilling

great news for me, bad news for the game: after those 9 interviews came back with an overwhelmingly positive impact, the CEO has decided to speed things up and is inviting me tomorrow already for the final 2-3 interviews (including his all-decisive one).

so i'm afraid that i will have to miss out yet another slot and will be quite a lot later with the one of tomorrow! and additionally, i ll be away this weekend on a sledging trip with my sister and her tall and wonderful friend

sorry guys!

well, RL seems to have taken over my life...

great news: I GOT THE JOB
nasty sideeffect: as of monday i will not be able to play any afternoon turns unless ill, holidays or if i get fired soon

if anyone of you has a problem with this, i guess i'd have to look out for a replacement. but from what i gathered last time i asked, some of you seemed pretty happy with the idea of reducing it to 1-a-day.

anyhow, sorry for being the player who permanently shatters the idea of 2-a-day!

speaking of civ4:
alex, are you in the beta testing team? can you give me your impressions?

from the first screenshots i have seen, i looks a bit too much like an RTS game, which would not be to my taste. but of course much can change...

I agree about the Civ4 graphics. Hopefully, the graphics in the screenshots that have been released will be improved. Graphics were never the strong point of Civ anyway.

I just think that no matter how the game looks, it's the game play that defines what is and what isn't civ.
