PP doesn't push abortion. It is an option among many others. Furthermore, they also offer gynecological information, as well as accurate information about birth control and talk to kids about delaying sex. You have to stop listening to right-wing propaganda so much. My friends go to PP because they sell birth control pills for much less than at pharmacies. There a lot of stuff avalable there besides abortions.

Here's how I view the initial discussion:

If I want to see sex or the likes of things that some ppl find offensive I will turn to cable or my rather large video collection. There is no reason for this to be on TV for all to see. I agree that the society we live in is far to sensitive, but a governing body cannot control that. What they can control is the contentment of their citizens by regulating what they can while leaving avenues for those can handle an occasional F word, or nipple, or butt... In the end, it will be the ppl, and not the government, that determine when they can handle this as a whole. That day will come when public airways receive next to no viewing or listening time, and satalite radio and cable televisions rule.

Why all this fuss about sex-ed, abstinance only education, pre-teen pregnancies etc ?

The solution is very simple - whenever a girl or boy are nearing sexual matureness they are equipped with a chastity belt and the key are handed over to the local parish admin. Then change the wedding ceremony a bit so it's a part that they get the keys handed over AFTER they have said yes.

Of course, if they descide to divorce, then it's back on again.

It doesn't even need to be the boring mediveal iron thingies, just take a look at http://www.chastity-uk.co.uk/History.htm - there are lots of chic models that will satisfy any teenagers urge to be smart dressed.

Lots of money saved on unnessecary education - no more teenageparents and ditto children.

Just one thing worries me a bit - i fear that a lot of teenagers will start to do serious research in lock picking.

Re education:

Parents are their childrens guardians, not owners. Education is not a commodity - it is passing on the essential klnowledge that society has decided is key for its future citizens to hold, and what its citizens should know. Education is for the benefit of the children, NOT for parents. Hence what is taught must be what kids need to know to be full and useful adults. Schools are there to pass on civic values, not personal values like religion, or even abstinance. Education needs to give people the facts, and make them aware of consequences. Thats it.

To deny kid information about sex is to leave their education incomplete. I don't believe in a society that enforces ignorance as a method of moral control.

I do realize some people here get hardons from statistics, but that 22% figure doesn't mean there's 22% moral consies out there. There could be huge number of people who are only marginally more scared by Islamic terrorists or exploding deficits than by nude people on TV.

I can understand the parents' concern about this matter, it eventually ends up in the level of not daring to open the TV since you never know how sexual the content will be. And kids who don't watch TV are considered weirdos at school, so...

Most parents abrogated it by being to big of cowards to tell their children the facts about sex and conception. Even if they did attempt to tell their children most parents just aren't informed enough to do a good job. No it is. Unprotected sex is what's causing the problem. Guys hate using condoms and so they talk women into having sex without them. Just cuz you're having anal or oral (or both) sex doesn't mean you don't use proctetion.
