I'll use Skanky as an example to disclose the truth for you, silly rah. I voted for him when he didn't have many votes (read: not likely to get voted off). If he was in danger of being voted off I'd vote the other to save him (provided I am not convinced he is the mafia of course ). I even planned to commit suicide to save his life when I was a mafia for Jebus' sake.

The vote is natually a signal of attention and a provision of chances of interaction, and a subtle help for him to stay alive longer, since mafias tent to leave the people who are likely to serve as scapegoat unkilled. However by returning votes and making it a fighting scene you'd essentially ensured the mafia would use this chance to off you and frame me.
