ww1 scenario idea Got spare money?

Germany starts off at war with only france and russia,
Germany would have to capture poland, Lithuania, Lavita, capture paris and
sevreal northern france cities as well as a few french colanies, and at the same time, help austria-hungary defeat serbia and capture sevrel russian cities in
western ukraine, the only way to quickly defeat france would be to go through belgium, and if germany attacks belgium then britain would declare war on germany. I did a lot of research on the causes and ambitions of ww1 and came up with this. What do you think?

It's a good idea. Jesus Munoz used it in his WW1 scenario which you can find on the Spanish site. He put immobile infantry of major powers in neutral cities as triggers, eg. a British unit in Brussels, a Russian unit in Belgrade, etc.

and mabe a transport ship ferrying supplies that when you sink it the us declares war, the special transport would be identacle to the regular transports but if u sink it the us will declare war. It would show up around 1917 and it's sinking would represent the sinking of the laconia.

What about the Ottoman Empire? How big of a role will they have? And how deeply into Africa do you plan to run your colonial campaign?

Perhaps also having certain Middle Eastern cities begin in civil disorder. And don't forget the British campaigns in the region. Oh, and thanks for the ship on my thread. It's great!

The Schlieffen plan was based on the idea that Russia required a long time to mobilise. Perhaps you could start with Russian units a long way away - how big a map are you planning to use? Perhaps you could use the events file to add new Russian units or perhaps Russian units are part built at the start of the scenario and it takes x moves to complete them.

The map would be a map of the world but europe would need to be enlarged so that there is more room for things in europe, i need to do a lot of research into what each side would be doing.
The civs would probably be
-Great britain and the commonwealth,
-The Russian Empire
-Germany, Austria, Turkey
-France
-Italy
-Japan
-The US
-Neutral Nations
a european version's civs
Britain
France
Russia
Germany
Austria
Turkey
Italy
Neutrals

Will your tech tree include poison gas? flame thrower? tanks? creeping barrage?

Presumably the first three could be available to all industrial nations, just a matter of deciding which to go for first.

Perhaps the creeping barrage could be preceeded by something - artillery bombardment?

Do you have any thoughts on including (or not) Gallipolli?

mabe tot, but probably mge, tot doesn't like my system for some reason
(i am in way over my head here )
i guess gallipoli could be represented by a seires
of fortresses with high defence units, and a lot of troops would be needed to take it, like 1 open land square and a line of fortresses with fortified turkish soldiers,

I think the tanks will be set up like this
British MKIV, Move-1, attack12, defence-5, hp-3 cost-12
French Schneider, move-1, attack10,defence3,hp3,cost12
German A7V, move-1, attack-14, defence6,hp-3, cost15

edit: come to think of it, i will make the german tank more expencive,

Those units look great, Erika! I've never been good at graphic-making, but I certainly appreciate expertise in the field.

BTW, by the look of the units layout, I see you've decided on European over global in scope. Probably a good choice, as Germany had minimal power in its colonies at the time.

Here's some advice. Make the neutrals a bunch of barbarian cities with immobile defense infantry in them (that's what I often do). That way, you can give Turkey it's own player on the global map (or maybe China).

Increase Your PM Length

When are you planning to start - I mean at what date will the scenario begin? You mentioned that a German attack on Belgium will bring Britain into the war, so I assume you're starting around July 1914. I presume a German attack on Russia will bring France into the war and vice versa - otherwise Germany doesn't need to face a war on 2 fronts. Similarly, any attack on Austria-Hungary brings Germany into the war - or are you planning to have Germany and Austria-Hungary as a single country? If you set up alliances at the begining, can you do anything to prevent separate peace treaties between the beligerants - tricky this one, since actually, Russia did sign a separate peace treaty in the end.

Once the war starts, how do you ensure that it bogs down into trench warfare?

It should be an interesting scenario - it will be interesting to see how closely the human player follows the actual course of events and what alternatives you allow them.

I couldn't agree more, seeing as more than half are by fairline and most of the rest are by Nemo, Case and some other very good artists.

This could be accomplished by giving both sides a line of D=99 stationary units that represent the lines of trenches. Any and all direct attacks would be futile. The only alternative would be to use amphib operations.

A Gallipoli in Europe sounds interesting. For players, the difficulty of such an operation would depend on whether or not aircraft have 2 turn movement. Events would have to be used to create AI invasions.

As a general question, how would the global version significantly differ from curtsibling's excellent Kaiser scen?

I'd rename fortresses 'Trenches' and give the units relatively high defense and 2 or 3 HP to infantry and MG's, so that units on a fortress get a tremendous bonus...

IŽd suggest you start in August since no German troops poured into Belgium in July as far as I know ...

I further suggest you make cavalry more generic units so you *could* use more different unit types then

Keep it up

I would quible about the two turkish infantry units- the early fez uniform was out even before the Balkans wars of 1912-1913 or the war with Italy for Tripoli- you could use the slot for something else.

Ditto for the old 1870's Russia uniform. Those are two slots you might give to better warplanes, depending on how important aircraft are.

How should i make the A7V?, i know that it was twice as fast as the MKIV, more powerful and had better armor, but poor trench crossing abilities, i know that the schneider will just flat out suck but i can't seem to figure out how to acurately represent the A7V's stregnth and weaknesses,

As for German armor, honestly, the Germans had little and highly ineffectual and unimportant armor-Storm Troopers are MUCH more important to have for the Germans than German tanks, since it was new infrantry tactics that almost brought a breakthrough by the Germans in 1918.

perhaps making the road multiplier 2, and givin all tanks 1 move and the all as roads flag, while giving the A7V 3 or 4 moves but suffers from terrain?
