Wow, Seattle were huge pretenders. The teams they beat had an average record of 6-10, and the average team they faced was 7-9... Any team can win those games.

There is one thing about Brent Farve in clutch games recently -- he is guaranteed to throw a lot of interceptions. When they won the Superbowl with Farve, Green Bay had the best defense in football and Brent didn't have to win the game all by himself. Now he presses and simply gives the games away. Perhaps his ego is too big today to control his wildness. But unless he gets it under control, the Pack has no future with Farve at QB. It is time for the Pack to move on, IMHO.

In football, fear is motivation. Motivation wins games. I think it's more likely than not that the Falcons will overlook the Rams, because they lack big game experience.

I'm not sure what happened to their defense or their recievers. They really played shitty this year.

Favre is totally on the ledge. After the game, he reportedly told Mike Sherman he was retiring, with Sherman spending a half-hour talking him down, telling him not to make any announcement until he had cooled off.

So Brett is going home to Mississippi for a couple weeks before saying anything. But it does look like it could happen this time...

It looked like the receivers screwed up on those interceptions, but you have to wonder whether in previous years Favre would have recognized their changed routes (improvisations) and thrown to the new spot? On the other hand, maybe the receivers just ****ed-up and Favre needs to recognize that. IMO he's still a dangerous quarterback to be facing in the 4th quarter.

Favre had a lot to deal with in his personal life this year. It was commendable that he was able to get GB to the playoffs alone while having to deal with such distractions. GB was the team I was least looking forward to having the Eagles play this postseason.

3/4 of NFC Pro Bowl D-backs are Eagles. Eagles D-Line will have Daunte on his back all day.

Westbrook/McNAbb/TightEnds have huge games in an Eagles blowout. I dont expect anything big from Eagles receiving corps, though..

Philly was only 11th on pass defense, and Minn was 2nd in passing offense.

But where did Philly rank in points allowed after week 15? 2nd. (weeks 16 & 17 dont count because they rested their starters).

That's not what I meant. I meant it was amusing they had to play that team, not that they had to go to New England. The game could be in Indy and I'd find it amusing as well. Kind of like the Football Gods have said the showdown will continue until the monkey is off the back of the Colts.

I think that is one of the problems, that it seems while he completed a lot of passes to them, Farve isn't comfortable with his recievers as he was in the 90s. With Freeman, it was almost like they shared a mind and they both knew where to go and where the throw. With Walker and Driver, the same familiarity isn't there at all.

And the defense being so horrible, I feel that Favre feels like he has to win games by himself, thus forcing a lot of balls... though he's always been known for forcing passes where he shouldn't. However, in his MVP years, they found the target a lot more.

Yep... its what we argue about in baseball threads. What does MOST VALUABLE mean. Does it mean the best player, or the player whose team would suffer the most without. According to the later definition, Vick is definetly a good choice. Look at Atlanta last year and compare to them this year.

Put an end to popups!

I can't believe that little scatback-with-an-arm is on the Pro Bowl team over Favre.

That said, every week the door to (losing in) the Super Bowl opens a little wider for Atlanta.

Re Favre yesterday, he's on an inferior team and when they fall behind, it shows (just like it did in his 5-INT playoff loss to the Rams a couple years ago). Amman's a fumbler and the defense is average on its good days. Also, he is actually hurt by his incredible self-confidence. He looked legitimately surprised on both of the "bad route" interceptions yesterday. Imran has a great point re his current crop of receivers. And he was without Javon when he really needed him yesterday.

I think would be a shame if he retired. But -- just like withn Barry Sanders -- as a Bears fan, I must admit I'm all for it.

They'd be fine with Warrick Dunn or Dez White at QB if that's what you mean.

I guess you are trying to say that plenty of teams with virtually no playoff experience win playoff games.

How can a QB be considered great if he plays horrible when he doesn't have great recievers to throw to. I'm not saying he isn't good, but he does depend on his recievers too much. He throws to recievers who are covered. The throws aren't even super accurate. He depends on the recievers to make good adjustments to make the catch.

Playoff experience isn't the be all and end all, especially since the advent of free agency. There have been a number of teams with little to no playoff experience who run the table. Frankly, I don't think playoff experience matters all that much anymore.

Look at Farve's stats and tell me if he played 'horrible' this year? He had a horrible playoff game. It happens. And every QB, no matter how talented, requires talent around him to put up great passing stats.

For example, the reason Atlanta is successful is because Vick can run. The recievers and O-Line around Vick are horrible (with the exception of Crumpler).
