All which assumes Martz learns from his mistakes. The man is an ideologue who won't change his system even when the evidence says he should modify. Also, he's the worst game day coach in the league. It's too late to do so, but if he was put back in the booth, the Rams would be a MUCH better team.

That's sooo not true. Every week he does something different. You don't pay attention to the Rams much. He's not an idealogue. He just does things that other coaches do. If you think he will ignore the second game of the season and do things the same way your crazy. The Rams will play a whole different game I assure you of that.

Btw, if Martz sucks so bad than how do you explain the 2003 team finishing with a better record than the 1999 team even though they had less talent?

Another difference in the Rams is that they are playing a lot better against the run. In fact, they made Alexander look pretty mediocre last Saturday, especially before he got injured. They were horrible against the run in the beginning of the season.

Ah, the musings of a deluded Rams fan . He has always abandoned the run waaay too early. In fact, that may have cost them the 2001 Superbowl?

A. I didn't say he sucked. I said he was a horrible game day coach. Everyone knows this. He's a good offensive coordinator, but has no clue about timeout usage, clock management, etc.

B. How do you expect me to take you seriously when you get such simple things wrong?

1999 Rams: 13-3

And btw, how far did the 2003 Rams go in the playoffs?

Did you mean the 2001 Rams? Because if you did, I'd definetly dispute the less talent claim.

Upon further thought, I have flip-flopped. It is possible for the Rams to win this game against the Falcons.

The only one clearly set in stone is Steelers v Jets.

While I'm not a huge fan of Vick's, that's mostly because of all the hype. I hate hype. But I feel a need to give him his props. His last two years healthy, Atlanta has been in the playoffs. When he's injured, Atlanta sucks.

Obviously, it's not just Vick. It's a team game. Just like the Bears could only win with Urlacher in the lineup, Atlanta is dysfunctional without Vick. He has intangibles, leadership skills, and mad footspeed. God forbid he should ever get a receiving corps.

It's hard to come out and say that a guy with 2300 passing yars, a 14/12 TD/INT, and a QB rating = to Tim Rattay (and worse than patrick Ramsey!) is that good. But it's about winning, not about fantasy points.

Mike Vick's a winner.

Yeah, because games against a totally different team are relevant!! Tell me, did they have Vick at QB in 2003? Nope. Did they play them in 02? Nope.

You think star players are every thing. The Rams had lots of talented players that weren't the stars on that team. Mike Jones for example, who made the game winning play in the Superbowl against Tennessee. Talent has to be measure on the whole team, not by just its starters.

Oh, and I read that Martz is using a defensing back to simulate Vick in practice, so he is adjusting to the Falcons. Vick won't have such a great game. So if you think Vick is the only decent player on the Falcons you have to admit that they are going to lose.

Wow... so they lost a few players. Star players are what determines if a team is a totally new team or the same. The entire offense skill positions were exactly the same. It may have been better with Candidate as the backup RB.

Point is that Martz is doing something specific. He doesn't just do the same thing every week.

Oh, and a key match up is Crumpler vs. Archuleta. I predict Archuleta gets at least one interception.

We'll see... but the Rams won't be stopping Vick. And what they do on Defense has nothing to do with them not doing the same thing every week .

That's fair. I actually just like to rile up the anti-Atlanta, anti-Vick people . I'll be generous and say the Rams probably have a 40% of winning (of course that is when the Vick haters come out and say he's sooo overrated even though its basically a one man team).

So what? Do you really remember the Falcons last year? Without him, they lost 5 games by a single score. The defense was absolutely horrible. He came back and won a game that ended with his defense returning an INT in OT after he put up a wonderful 14 ponits. We heard all week about how he won that game. Then he was completely embarassed by the Colts defense. Then they beat Tampa by 2 points after Brad Johnson threw 4 INTs. Then they beat the Jags by a single score in which both QBs played very average. Once he came back, he completed less than half his passes, was sacked more than any other Falcon QB (on average), and turned the ball over more than he scored. The difference? His defense made plays and they pulled out the close wins.
