Let me tell you about the early days of Vox in the ptwdg. Where is Wittlich? He is on one of the teams here. He can testify to all the mistakes we made.

I see that Beta is pushing for Emperor...and there are some valid points for an Emperor setting (and for me it would be fine)...But I still think that with the diversity of players in this HUGE game, that a Monarch setting might be best for everyone in general.

lol ... i've thought a few times about how amusing it would be to pit a really good player (read: Alexman) against teams, and see which do better - Dictatorships or Democracies ... But you're probably right, that would be bo-ring ...

In your search for details of your team, don't forget that your civ-group will need an Icon. Icons are important ... 15x19 pixel GIF files, nothing indecent please. Look at past DG icons for inspiration if you like.

GIF files can be created on Paint (Windows Paint) or most (probably all ) picture editing programs. You can also often shrink pictures in better editing programs down while still retaining integrity. Do a web search for "GIMP" and some words involving picture editing, if you want a GPL photoshop-like program.

How is the map going to be "made"? I see the following options:

1. Computer-generated
   
2. Computer-generated with tweaks to ensure balanced starts
   
3. Man-made (also ensuring balanced starts, but possibly more fun)

Actually, the way I read it #2 is correct. Dominae is going to randomly generate a map, with our settings, and then tweak it slightly to ensure a balanced start. (Hopefully Dom will also throw out and regenerate any map that looks boring. )
