Shogun - you need to try and accomplish two things.

1. The rade - which seems close. (I am with Klo - please post the entire dialogue here so we can all hae a gander), and ...

2. Inform them about a hut next to our cultural borders and that we don't want it popped and that we can work out a sharing deal for the contents.

Basically - we want to be friends.

then, after seeing the save and the posted comments about what science techs they already had (pottery, in this case), I sent a follow up message

I have not sent another message until we resolved the specifics of what we are going to offer.

As it stands, bronze working & 'one tech point' for masonry is the offer.

As you can see below, the proper grammatical treatment of the first greeting between nations is not what you would expect in the ancient Ankh-Morporkian language...

It's a bug with poly's private forums, that allows anyone to edit anyone else's post.

Back when this was discovered during the PTWDG, MarkG asked the PTWDG forum if he should fix it or leave it, and the general consensus was that it was useful (for editing central information and records threads) and should be left in. So, it's still here today.

And if OK by others - let them know we are researching Mysticism and would like to arrange a trade now.

And I would also suggest to them that we stay in close contact to make sure there are now misunderstandings regarding the land between us.

I don't see how saying were reseraching Mystism hurts, as long as they also tell us what they are researching. (We'd owe them a tech point on the Bronze Working Masonry deal.)

But if they latter ask about our post-Mystism plan, don't speculate but instead tell them we don't know yet.

Ok - this is getting a bit messy now. The Lost Boys have also offered masonry - and we may be able to work out a 2 for 3 tech deal with them. But it would be good to split the deal between the tow civs. It makes us relatively stronger tech wise - and gets us dealing with both our neigbours.

Shogun - I presume you are a bit busy - and as the save is here - I am going to PM Ormuzd.

Proposed message to Krill and Ormuz. Klo, let me know about the gold and timing. Are folks Ok with this - or is it too early to start talking about #3? Please see the discussion in the other thread.

On number one: Assuming the trade doesn't take place until a few turns from now, we should easily have enough gold if we shut down research for a turn, so no need to say we'll need to seperate the payments, I think, unless they want to do it this coming turn.

On 2: Why shouldn't they get adjacent to the hut? I'd reword it to "...it if you did not move adjacent to the worker."

On 3: See my post in the alliance thread. If we're going for the Morporkians rather than the LB, then sure. I'd wait for another message so we have some time to debate the alliance issue.
