Too many unknown quantities in the Uefa cup, you would have to be lucky to get through, Souness has no ideas, hes almost as bad a PL manager as Bryan Robson, almost.

Though Man U v NC in a semi-final, its bound to be worth watching, unlike watching Blackburn crumble into tiny pieces against Arsenal.

Well, we were able to take Chelsea. Maybe we can shock ManU. That puts us back in UEFA next year (well, as long as Blackburn doesn't beat Arsenal ).

If we can win the damned thing, Souness should be given as long a contract as he wants.

I would have thought so until now. He's actually got Newcastle defending properly and they are now hard to score against. Instead of taking an early lead and blowing it, they can now take an early lead and hang on for dear life. That's progress.

I've supported Newcastle since the late 70s and that is the first time anyone could ever say that about the team. It's a miracle - it's like Orient suddenly not being shite anymore.

I don't think Souness is in for the long hall. He was the right guy at the right time given the situation. If Robson had stayed, the good players would have been sold and we would be in relegation trouble.

But Souness is also a proven winner, and if he can win Newcastle anything, it would be a nice change.

Besides Houllier bought **** players. Souness bought Boumsong who is excellent, and Babayaro, who was great for the money. He's also revitalized the play of all the underacheivers except for Kluivert, and even he is starting to come right.

If only he could do something about Ameobi.

Oh and Imran... I played the demo of Football Manager 2005. It's very good, although a bit too easy.

I found the absolute best player to buy too. He's a Brazilian called Dede and plays for Leverkusen or some team like that. You can get him for about 15 million pounds and he is worth every penny.

Just stick him on the left wing and watch him get ratings or 9 or 10 for every game. His stats are amazing - he dribbles more than 20 times a game sometimes and is an absolute scourge of defenders. Making him a playmaker makes it even more ridiculous.

Souness hasn't won bugger all as a manager, IMHO he's a Blackburn/Bolton level manger.

You cant defend like you did against us every week and get away with it, look how many chances we had, and the turned down penalty decisions, that was luck and desperation more than tactical nouse from Souness. Plus theres better attacking teams than us to defend against for 85mins.

IIRC Spurs start with 7 or 8m total to spend on transfers, and it decreases every week if you dont spend it. Kinda makes you understand why managers rush out and buy **** players sometimes.

Bad example, Ferguson was a knats c0ck away from being sacked before he lucked out and won the FA Cup, he'd have been replaced in the following close season otherwise.

Don't be Chelsea then . I finished 3rd with Newcastle in the first season, but I'm struggling in the second season, hovering around mid-table. I just sold Jenas and Bellamy and brought in Downing and Hasan Sas. Hopefully that can jolt my team (oh in the last transfer market I bought Drogba and sold Dyer.... Drogba is WONDERFUL).

Starting out it a premier leauge club in a CM/FM game? What a boring idea. Soon, the Torquay United faithful will see the premier leauge title brought to Plainmoor. That's not to easy.

Yeah the lower league managers, i think it still exists. Back when the SI forums and CM were good i used to visit there regularly, because they looked down on any tactical or good transfer discussion, basically any showing off that wasnt related to the eternal struggle of lower league management. If you visit the transfer or tactical forums thats all you read, "OMG I FOWND THIS RALLY GOOD PLYR SAVIOLA I SYNED FOR MANU AND HE GOT 2 IN THE FISRT GAME BUY HIM HE IS GOOD".
