e-mail from aqua and my response:
quote: To the diplomatically backward and uneducated Council of Desolation Row,
Please note:
1.) From our first contact with you, you threatened our scout and mandated a
course of movement for him while he was clearly NOT in a war zone, and clearly
in INTERNATIONAL territory.
2.) Your first communication with me, as ambassador, proposed grossly one sided
trades.
3.) Your response to my asking you to clarify these positions never arrived.
Instead you chose to respond with ambiguity.
4.) After agreeing several times to move a spy out of a declared war zone, you
continually ignored your promises and continued your spy's most despicable
treachery.
5.) At the time of my communication, my nation had no ill intent against
yours. It is quite clear that eithier Desolation Row did not really want an
alliance or are merely too ignorant of diplomatic matters to have been able to
respond appropriately. As you profess such great knowledge of diplomacy, it is
equally clear that the Great Council of the Blood Oath Horde has chosen
correctly to destroy your worthless people.
Further, the Council of The Blood Oath Horde sayeth not. Prepare for thy doom.

>
> Firstly, I quote your words to me on the 16th of May:
>
> First and foremost, please let your council know that we have no
> aggressive movements or plans against your nation
>
>
> Now, some 3 weeks later and without any provocation on our part, you have
attacked and murdered an exploring Warrior of the Desolation Row, who was well
outside your borders.. This treacherous and barbaric act has occurred in the
midst of discussions regarding tech trading and longer-term alliances. In
contrast, your Scout wandering around our lands has been left in peace without
so much as a single complaint from the Council of Desolators.
>
> The Council of Desolators is disgusted by this abhorrent behaviour. Clearly
your colleagues have no sense of the longer term implications of their
impetuosity.
>
> All communications with your immoral rabble shall therefore be severed
immediately. Should you wish to re-establish relations with the Desolation
Row, reparations must be made.
>
> My final word is to express my dismay that the long established international
precedent of using diplomatic channels to advise of grievances has been totally
sidestepped on this occasion. Clearly Ambassador, your position within the
Horde Council is powerless and worthless, and your colleagues respect not the
international prestige and recognition that your position bestows upon you.
Neither is your supposed leader, Paddy, able to command enough respoect within
the ranks of the Horde to enforce established protocol.
>
> Mark my words Ambassador.....the civilised nations of this world shall
henceforth treat the Horde with great suspicion and mistrust.

Greetings Great Bards,
The Red Guard Operations (RGO) team have been working on the various reports since we had the last sacred save. Please find below two case studies that important.
------------------------------------------------------------
Case Yul Brynner:
The DR vet horse (4/4) Yul Brynner is currently located at forest 2-2-2 from the Bard iron and fur city of Metallica. The DR regular warrior (3/3) Fred is currently located at desert 2-3-3 from Metallica. These two units pose a significant threat to Metallica which is empty at the moment, particularly Yul Brynner.
Yul Brynner has several routs of approach to Metallica at his disposal. All are quite devastating.
He can move 8-7 or 8-8 which bings him within reach os Metallica, or he can move 8-9 which is not a threat. Fred can move 8, 7 or 4 and can't threaten Metallica immediately.
If Yul Brynner comes in position to attack Metallica, then since U2 is also empty, I doubt the bards could be able to repel the threat alone. We simply can't risk the bards losing that iron city. The only solution to this that I can see is that bards give us the city of Metallica accepted on the beginning of their next turn and then our troops move through Metallica and dismiss Yul Brynner. This is the only defence for that empty city. Half measures simply won't do.
We will of course return the city of Metallica once the danger has been eliminated.
------------------------------------------------------------
Case Sidon:
There are 2 DR Immortals (Hercules and Samson, both 4/4), one DR spear (Foxtrot 4/4) and one DR worker on position 7 from Sidon. I guess this strong detachment is there to protect the warrior who is building road toward the bard city of U2, at the moment also empty.
I believe and Paddy agrees that the city of Sidon is the DR base of operations for a DR planed all out assault on the Bard main. I believe the city to be full of immortals and the invasion road being built to facilitate their movement. They will probably stay put until the road is completed though.
I estimate the total size of their immortal army in Sidon since they are average to us in strength to something around 7-8 immortals (counting Samson and Hercules). Could be more if they are not all vet immortals, but not more than 9 in total I guess. I'll do the exact calculation soon based on our units and the moment they became average.
------------------------------------------------------------
We look forward to your responses.
May the wind fill you sails on a calm day.
Paddy

Paddy says:
I will invite Ljube and Plato in here ok.
Ljube has been added to the conversation.
snoopy369 says:
lo
Ljube says:
hello
PLATO has been added to the conversation.

we're happy to talk with you, great snoopy
Paddy says:
Ljube has a few things to say that Mac missed, due to falling a sleep
PLATO says:
Hi Snoopy! Good to see you!
Ljube says:
I would like to hear who has command over your mighty armies?
Ljube says:
Mac, Roth or you?
snoopy369 says:
Rhoth is the turn player
Ljube says:
Or some otehr memebr of the bards
snoopy369 says:
we all talk about strategy, all three of us plus the other members
snoopy369 says:
let me bring up the forum pls 1 sec
Ljube says:
sure
snoopy369 says:
okay ready
snoopy369 says:
also have save up for reference
Ljube says:
great
Ljube says:
excellent
Ljube says:
First question
Ljube says:
Yul Brynner
Ljube says:
where he?
Paddy says:
yes, all very current
snoopy369 says:
we're atlking 1600 bc save right?
Ljube says:
1575 I believe
snoopy369 says:
(i haven't dled 1575 yet if it's available0
snoopy369 says:
mail still retrieving
Ljube says:
yeah it is
snoopy369 says:
(spam)
snoopy369 says:
fast connxn but still
Ljube says:
hehe
Ljube says:
no problem
Ljube says:
snoopy369 says:
if so that's a 24 hr turn turnaround
snoopy369 says:
hmm AM reports that DR has immortals (wow, shock)
Ljube says:
Did you have the chance to read my case Yul Brynner?
snoopy369 says:
We are safe from that, don't worry
snoopy369 says:
but i'm loading save now 1 sec
Ljube says:
OK, how about case Sidon?
snoopy369 says:
They are not in view atm
Ljube says:
Yul?
Ljube says:
Not in view?
Ljube says:
that means he can't strike this turn
Ljube says:
that's good
snoopy369 says:
no, yul is in view
Ljube says:
ah
snoopy369 says:
sidon people are not in view
snoopy369 says:
I'll let rhoth speak about the metallica situation - he believes he has it under control
Ljube says:
as I suspected they haven't moved
snoopy369 says:
i do not play in his style, so i will not speak as to his direct intentions there
Ljube says:
the sidon people
Ljube says:
just a moment, regardless of his intentions let's sort out some basics
Ljube says:
Is Yul Brynner where I think he is (on hill 2 from empty Metallica)?
snoopy369 says:
snoopy369 says:
he is 2 from metallica indeed
Ljube says:
OK, that's a start
snoopy369 says:
i do not want to discuss that situation - rhoth will have to talk to either me or you about that
snoopy369 says:
sidon i can speak to, that's sort of my part of our strategy
Ljube says:
OK, let's talk about sidon
snoopy369 says:
I believe sidon is one of two things
Ljube says:
my calculations based on number of our swords which contribute to the army strength most
snoopy369 says:
either a hope that we attack it, and get reamed by immortals in the doing
snoopy369 says:
or an actual strike force, hoping we were dumb enough not to raze the road that we razed.
Ljube says:
and the relative strength of our armies
Ljube says:
shows they have at least 7 immortals
Ljube says:
possibly 8
snoopy369 says:
At one time, i calculated them to have a LOT of horsemen, so don't discount their horsemen
snoopy369 says:
i have a spreadsheet that uses a very very good approximation of the civ "weak/average/strong" to figure that out for early age people
Ljube says:
ok, so what is your estimation?
snoopy369 says:
at the time immediately prior to our first invasion, they must have had a minimum of 8-10 horsemen
snoopy369 says:
depending on vet. or reg.
Ljube says:
unlikely
snoopy369 says:
no, it was a guarantee
snoopy369 says:
100% sure
snoopy369 says:
they vacillated at one point from weak to average,
Ljube says:
we the horde don't have that many
snoopy369 says:
so i knew within a few % the relative strength
Ljube says:
how can they have?
snoopy369 says:
i am aware
snoopy369 says:
They built them.
Ljube says:
then they couldn't have built immortals
snoopy369 says:
They either had 8-10 horsemen (vet - reg)
snoopy369 says:
or
snoopy369 says:
they had about 20 warriors
Ljube says:
and we know they did
snoopy369 says:
i think their counterattack proves me more accurate
snoopy369 says:
literally 20? no
snoopy369 says:
maybe 10, and 6 horsemen, or some such
snoopy369 says:
i assumed a certain number, i forget what - like 5-6 warriros
Ljube says:
look, it's simply impossibel
Ljube says:
we built nothing but units and still have fewer than what you suggest they had
snoopy369 says:
regular horsemen aren't that much in the calculation compared to a swordsman
snoopy369 says:
2/1 vs 3/2
Ljube says:
yeah
snoopy369 says:
the strength calc nearly ignores mp
Ljube says:
indeed
Ljube says:
still, they cost 30 shields
snoopy369 says:
yes
Ljube says:
and I swear we built warriors and upgraded them, not swords
snoopy369 says:
yessir
Ljube says:
so, it is highly unlikely the DR built more than we did
snoopy369 says:
you grew a lot more pop-wise than they did
PLATO says:
pop rush?
Ljube says:
you think they pop rushed?
snoopy369 says:
i'm just saying, it's a lock that they had that many horsemen. Minimum 6, no matter what
Ljube says:
we pop rushed too
snoopy369 says:
no, they just didn't build granaries or settlers
Ljube says:
pop rushed big time
snoopy369 says:
pop rush doesn't help in this long of a run sir ... it helps in the very short run
snoopy369 says:
they are industrious, so they have fast-forest chop abilities like we do
snoopy369 says:
and they had a size 5-6 capital undoubtedly when yours was 2-3
Ljube says:
hmmm
snoopy369 says:
producing a horsman every 3 turns, easily
Ljube says:
ours is 8
snoopy369 says:
now.
snoopy369 says:
at the time, it was undoubtedly producing settlers
Ljube says:
our capital?
Ljube says:
never
snoopy369 says:
and they followed a very nearly ICS strategy
Ljube says:
never produced a single settler
snoopy369 says:
well, then they had 3 large cities when you had 1
snoopy369 says:
you must have produced those settlers at some point
snoopy369 says:
unless you hutpopped them all?
Ljube says:
not in our capital we haven't
snoopy369 says:
ljube, i don't know the answer
snoopy369 says:
i just know what the math showed at the time
Ljube says:
my math shows they have 7-9 immortals
snoopy369 says:
rhoth didn't believe me either
snoopy369 says:
anyway, you may be right
snoopy369 says:
i'd guess 5-7 but i haven't done the math
snoopy369 says:
so 7-9 sounds fine to me
snoopy369 says:
i don't think they have many barracks (if any)
Ljube says:
ok, I dare say they are all (or almost all, they have been moving them) concentrated in sidon
snoopy369 says:
maybe in the capital and one other city, but when we saw them for a long time they had regular units
snoopy369 says:
sounds good to me
Ljube says:
7-9 depends on whether they are vet or not
snoopy369 says:
both within safe range of the target we attacked last time
snoopy369 says:
and within strike range of us
Ljube says:
hmm, if they are 9 then if they see your stack moving in on their cities, they will probably conclude you have no units in your land and move in on you
snoopy369 says:
well good
snoopy369 says:
we will have enough swords to either repel such attack or make it very very weak
Paddy says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
whereas the approach to their city is nearly all hills, they'll have to come on plains or flatland
snoopy369 says:
and i think we shall be safe from that ... it's what i've been mostly expecting
Ljube says:
do you have horses to use that flatland?
snoopy369 says:
we have some
snoopy369 says:
not a lot
Ljube says:
OK, horde will assist
Ljube says:
the horde main force is well on the way to your land
snoopy369 says:
but we have enough roads and short distances between cities
snoopy369 says:
what about the strike at antioch?
snoopy369 says:
or are we on the way?
PLATO says:
Snoop, where is the thrust of your stack going to be?
PLATO says:
is it antioch?
snoopy369 says:
my understanding, and it's not 100%, is invictus
snoopy369 says:
definitely east, not west
Ljube says:
we fear that the DR immortals might be too much for your defences
Ljube says:
I think defence takes precedence
snoopy369 says:
your swords are heading to antioch, though, right?
snoopy369 says:
horsemen should be sufficient i'd think
snoopy369 says:
we have plenty of swords in the main area
Paddy says:
what?
Ljube says:
so why are your key cities empty then?
snoopy369 says:
we will have by the earliest time they could attack, a minimum of 5 swords in our own territory
snoopy369 says:
well, i'd put the units slightly differently, but rhoth has been concentrating on nirvana
snoopy369 says:
he's turnplayer so i won't second guess him right now
Ljube says:
U2 is the target of their attack, or Metallica I tell you
Ljube says:
They care not for Nirvana
snoopy369 says:
I think they targetted nirvana initially, due to the road
snoopy369 says:
but we fixed that, so you are probably correct
snoopy369 says:
but please, don't tell me how to play the game
snoopy369 says:
not only am I not playing the turns
snoopy369 says:
but i'm well aware of how to do this
snoopy369 says:
we appreciate and want your military help, but not your gameplay help
Ljube says:
Not been trying to tell anyone how to play
PLATO says:
I am greatly concerned about a DR horse being 2 from Metallica and the city being empty. Perhaps you can quiet our fears for your safety by letting us know that Metallica is safe and how?
Ljube says:
just warning you of the danger
Ljube says:
yeah, please explain how you plan to defend metallica
snoopy369 says:
please read above
Ljube says:
the most important city in your empire
snoopy369 says:
i will not talk about it, that is rhoth's area
Paddy says:
yes indeed
snoopy369 says:
and as you said before
snoopy369 says:
it is an internal matter
Paddy says:
thank you Snoopy for listeniong to us
PLATO says:
Snoop, we be allies...and we are just concerned. Please pardon us if we seem pushy.
snoopy369 says:
if your assistance is needed, you will be told by rhoth
Paddy says:
thank you for this.
snoopy369 says:
snoopy369 says:
np and thanks for the continued allied support
snoopy369 says:
i do not doubt that we will prevail over their forces given our combined abilities and strength
PLATO says:
The Horde-Bard alliance is the pillar our world stands upon
Ljube says:
OK, just remeber that since we offered our assistance asking for nothing in return do not feel that if you accept this offer you are in our debt or something, that's all
Ljube says:
and thank you for your patience
snoopy369 says:
thank you also
snoopy369 says:
i will talk to rhoth tonight sometime
snoopy369 says:
we will figure out what he is doing, and i'll include these concerns in that chat
PLATO says:
Snoop. Is there anything that I can do to assist your efforts on a diplomatic front?
snoopy369 says:
Not at the moment
snoopy369 says:
unless you convince LB and AM to joint attack as well to ensure our victory
snoopy369 says:
(are you at war with AM, for that matter? I can't follow that war ...)
Paddy says:
hehe
Ljube says:
Our victory is sure even whith only you and the horde
PLATO says:
I can certainly get to work on LB anyway!
Paddy says:
the AM issue we will come to again soon
snoopy369 says:
lol
snoopy369 says:
you now have a RoP with them?? lol
snoopy369 says:
that is certainly interesting
snoopy369 says:
(forgot i have an f4 screen )
PLATO says:
Thanks for the chat snoop. Look forward to hearing great songs of your victories! Until later my friend!
Ljube says:
till later, long live the bards and long live the horde!
snoopy369 says:
yessir
snoopy369 says:
we shall sing greatly

snoopy369 says:
kk let me know when you're ready
Paddy says:
2 mins
Paddy says:
tx
snoopy369 says:
n
snoopy369 says:
np
Paddy says:
hello
Paddy says:
How can I help?
snoopy369 says:
We would like to discuss some Specific Details of the military campaign.
snoopy369 says:
Paddy says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
What sort of force, precisely, do you have available to attack with right now, and where exactly is it?
Paddy says:
will get that for you
snoopy369 says:
Apologies btw if i'm repeating things mcm has asked in the past, i have an imperfect memory
snoopy369 says:
take your time
Paddy says:
no worries mate
Paddy says:
this will be in sections:
1.
Hot Lips (spearwoman 4/4) - at "Metallica" 8,9
The Wanderers (sword 3/3) - at "Metallica" 8,9

Khan's Own Faithfuls (horseman 4/4) - at "Metallica" 8,9
Paddy says:
2.
Hammerhead (sword 3/3) - 9,6,6
on his way
Redwench (spearwoman 4/4) - 9,6
on her way
3.
Double Edge (swords 4/4) - to Bohkara

Shadow Striker (swords 4/4) - to Bohkara
on his way
Paddy says:
4. east of Fililous-Ala

Paddy says:
Paddy says:
5.
Black Lightning (horseman 1/5) - to Bohkara to rest
Soothsayer's Savages (horseman 2/5) - 6,3
heading for barracks to rest
The Eingana Princesses (horseman 4/4) -
6. 1 turn away
Bongolian Royal Red Guards (horseman 4/4) -
Paddy says:
does that help
snoopy369 says:
yes, although i may need some help understanding some details
Paddy says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
i don't have my game open ... Bokhara is the city nearest us?
Paddy says:
no
Paddy says:
Bloodview is
snoopy369 says:
(i have very detailed maps of our area but not extending west much)
snoopy369 says:
ohh right
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
Bohkara is a central city
snoopy369 says:
i can open the one you sent me a while ago 1 sec
Paddy says:
tx
Paddy says:
Horde would like to announce the completion of a Wonder.....
Paddy says:
The Statue of Zeus.
snoopy369 says:
SoZ ?
snoopy369 says:
lol nice
Paddy says:
in Khans Blood Hall
snoopy369 says:
Bokhara is the one 4441 from bloodview?
snoopy369 says:
or 4777
Paddy says:
a full press release will be published this afternoon
snoopy369 says:
yessir
snoopy369 says:
i imagine
Paddy says:
yes it is
Paddy says:
hehe
snoopy369 says:
4441?
Paddy says:
yes
snoopy369 says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
and Filious-ala?
snoopy369 says:
i have places for cities but no names
Paddy says:
would you like a new map soon then
snoopy369 says:
oh sure that would work
Paddy says:
1 minute
snoopy369 says:
kk
Paddy says:
system would not allow me to place here, so have emailed it to you both
Paddy says:
any luck?
snoopy369 says:
yes useful
snoopy369 says:
one sec to understand
Paddy says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
so if i get this right
snoopy369 says:
you could have in 6 turns, 4 swordsmen, 3 spearmen, and a horseman?
snoopy369 says:
in Sidon
snoopy369 says:
at sidon's gate rather
snoopy369 says:
?
Paddy says:
yes
Paddy says:
more
snoopy369 says:
and one turn after that you could have another 4 swords and 2 archers
snoopy369 says:
or maybe it's 5 turns and 6 not 6 ad 7 ... depends on route
Paddy says:
yes indeed
snoopy369 says:
okay.
snoopy369 says:
can you do that?
snoopy369 says:
send everything, directly, to Sidon, at the fastest possible speed?
Paddy says:
sounds logical
snoopy369 says:
and thereafter go to Antioch
snoopy369 says:
directly?
Paddy says:
making us an agreessor
snoopy369 says:
assuming they give up sidon
Paddy says:
assumming
snoopy369 says:
we will keep enough defenses
Paddy says:
I will have RGO do a full work up on taking Sidon down, and for us to move on Antich there after
Paddy says:
and continue to move all pieces this turn
snoopy369 says:
I'd like a committment that it will happen as soon as possible
snoopy369 says:
the thing is, we need them to be splitting their forces as much as possible
Paddy says:
you have my commitment in this matter
snoopy369 says:
okay
snoopy369 says:
we are ... rhoth, what about 3 turns away from their city?
Paddy says:
I will have full battle plans prepared and sent along in the coming 2 turns
snoopy369 says:
yes 3 turns
Rhothaerill says:
From the tile above it yes
snoopy369 says:
snoopy369 says:
so what we expect from DR, is for them to react to our presence, partially or fully emptying sidon
snoopy369 says:
as we have mountain/hill tiles on our end, we would rather take immortal attacks rather than you
Rhothaerill says:
That also depends on if they block that tile. It's a mountain and would be too much for us to attempt. We'd have to go around if they block us.
snoopy369 says:
true
snoopy369 says:
tho there are hills also there
Paddy says:
Understanding, my Red Guard are not just going to charge in, they are methodical and will work at this to get the maximun result.
so you have my commitment, yet please know that I have no details on this plan in front of me, nor are any of my RGO team here at this hour.
snoopy369 says:
we shall see but it is a good timing i think nonetheless
snoopy369 says:
I understand
Rhothaerill says:
Yeah, but that's the easiest tile get to.
snoopy369 says:
but the timing is important
Paddy says:
yes I understand that
snoopy369 says:
the stack you indicate is big enough to succeed given the split of DR forces
snoopy369 says:
but if they are able to concentrate ... we are weaker
Paddy says:
they are not suicide troops
snoopy369 says:
We don't expect them to be
snoopy369 says:
as i said, we land 2-3 turns ahead of you
snoopy369 says:
the hope is that DR will concentrate on us
Paddy says:
and in that they were diverted from a long march to come back to act defensively, now you (agreeably) ask that they change again to attack
snoopy369 says:
but some risks must be taken ... and you must admit that if either of us succeed, we both win
Paddy says:
I agree
Paddy says:
so to I am responsible
snoopy369 says:
oh yessir
Paddy says:
I am with you in all in this matter
snoopy369 says:
now we have some info also that may help your decision
snoopy369 says:
4 immortals were spotted 8 from inner sanctum this past turn
Paddy says:
ahhh decision made, now we plan for movements is all
snoopy369 says:
according to Ljube that is 1/2 of their force
snoopy369 says:
all veterans
Paddy says:
excellent
Paddy says:
excellent indeed
Paddy says:
personally I would love nothing better than to gather my many horse regiments and tear Sidon to shreds
Rhothaerill says:
With luck they'll fall for my mini trap next turn, though I don't expect them to do so after failing to take out a worker and expose a horseman
snoopy369 says:
Two turns ago Sidon had one veteran immortal and two horsemen south and southwest of Grog (Grog was all the time on the mountain).
Previous turn Sidon had only a Horseman - the one who was over the hills.
Sidon is occupied by a veteran spearman named Tropical Fish
I have seen your forces and I really wish you good luck beating DR.
Paddy says:
ahhh
snoopy369 says:
this is from another source
Paddy says:
thank you
Paddy says:
good to have such sources
snoopy369 says:
so it seems they are fairly weak atm ...
snoopy369 says:
yessir
snoopy369 says:
in sidon anywho
Paddy says:
5 horse would shred that place
snoopy369 says:
i think they moved the forces you saw over towards inner sanctum
snoopy369 says:
oh yessir
Paddy says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
well as i said, 5-6 turns is what we would like to see, because that would likely give you a virtually undefended target
Paddy says:
any word on the "1st babylonian Battle Patrol"?
snoopy369 says:
any more may force other delays that would probably cost you more men to take sidon
Paddy says:
we are on the job
snoopy369 says:
nope
snoopy369 says:
not more than you said a bit ago, not from my end anywho
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
"the fabled lost patrol"
and Aqua will die when they arrive
snoopy369 says:
we will be sending you some furs in a turn or two (rhoth?)
Paddy says:
5-6 Babylonian Horse in a single stack - awesome stuff
Rhothaerill says:
2 yes.
snoopy369 says:
we would love at that time to have some dyes in return ... if we simul-send them
snoopy369 says:
then you will have an unending pact that does not go away every 20 turns )
snoopy369 says:
Paddy says:
hehe - sending Dyes accepted this turn
Rhothaerill says:
No that's exactly what snoop is talking about not doing.
snoopy369 says:
okay, we may refuse them then unless we can counter with furs
Paddy says:
would you prefer we wait then
snoopy369 says:
i shall let rhoth explain
Paddy says:
ok, I will wait
Rhothaerill says:
Heh, okay give me a sec.
Rhothaerill says:
A mutual agreement is better. It has to do with game mechanics. I ran into this with Vox. If you send a per-turn agreement like a lux without getting something in turn it doesn't automatically renew and you have to spend a turn without that lux before you can get it back again. It caused a couple problems with Vox because I played happiness so tight to the vest.
Rhothaerill says:
I'd suggest just send it -unaccepted and then we will tack on furs and accept the deal. Then you can accept it on your turn and we have our deal and won't have to spend a turn every 20 without those luxes in place.
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
excellent
Paddy says:
a pleasure doing business with you
Rhothaerill says:
Just some experience from other demogames.
Paddy says:
and a good one at that
snoopy369 says:
snoopy369 says:
how soon are you to currency?
Paddy says:
so mighty allies, I have had the Great Desolator on the phone to me several times in the last 48 hours
Paddy says:
Currency - we hope 5 - 9
Paddy says:
we have been buggering around with money over building units, and getting SoZ built
snoopy369 says:
oh i imagine
snoopy369 says:
lol Aqua is funny as usual?
Paddy says:
The Great Desolator got quite a shock to see our units across the other side of Metallica
snoopy369 says:
Well, no rush, we are 6 to constr i think
snoopy369 says:
hehe
snoopy369 says:
no embassy = no noticing the ROP
Paddy says:
Hoped I would attack and then let him clean the area
Paddy says:
hehe
snoopy369 says:
ohh rofl
snoopy369 says:
thought you were at war with us?
snoopy369 says:
you should have let him continue thinking that
snoopy369 says:
would have been funnier
Paddy says:
hopes we are
Paddy says:
I am
snoopy369 says:
ohhhh hehe
snoopy369 says:
you are trickier than i can imagine
Paddy says:
could neither confirm or deny
snoopy369 says:

snoopy369 says:
<< needs to sit down with poly smilies and add them all to the msn someday
Paddy says:
he honestly believes that the Horde is in a constant state of confusion - 15 members with big egos etc
Paddy says:
hehe
snoopy369 says:
ohhhh rofl
Paddy says:
he spend 30 mins trying to convince me that your inner kingdom must be empty, as he has calculations on your troop numbers, and knows where most of them are etc
Paddy says:
he then sent Masuro and Moonbars after me on msn messenger, each trying to get a full on allaince against you happening
snoopy369 says:
oh nice
Paddy says:
funny old duck that he is
Paddy says:
must kill aqua....
Paddy says:
must.....
snoopy369 says:
rofl, his calcs are as inaccurate as ljube's but still
snoopy369 says:
any calc based on strong:even:weak is +/- 10% automatically
Paddy says:
Horde is as always - resolute that the Desolators are evil.... they must be erradicated
snoopy369 says:
unless you somehow know that they aren't building units
snoopy369 says:
snoopy369 says:
Desolate ... as in salt plowed grounds
Paddy says:
Horde is 100% resolute that Bards friends and true allies from days when Horde only had few horse and small village
Paddy says:
Horde truely value friends
Paddy says:
Horde proud of friendship with the people of the eternal music
snoopy369 says:
We will sing praises of your horsemen for ever
snoopy369 says:
hehe
Paddy says:
Desolators are in for a world of hurt
snoopy369 says:
must someday invent an instrument easily played on horseback
Paddy says:
Desolator Trip is also back
snoopy369 says:
well in about 20 turns anyway
snoopy369 says:
oh interesting
snoopy369 says:
wonder what he has to say
snoopy369 says:
quick science thing btw ... i think it is safe to say that we wish to pursue feudalism and then chivalry with all abandon
Paddy says:
He was at Desolator War Council, with Desolator Aqua, Masuro & Moonbars
They met for near 5 hours last night my time
snoopy369 says:
innnnteresting
snoopy369 says:
irc?
Paddy says:
msn I believe
snoopy369 says:
ah
snoopy369 says:
cool
snoopy369 says:
let us know what your opinions are about how aggressively to pursue chivalry in the new age
Paddy says:
They are actively seeking out Desolator Sabrewolf, who has been away a bit.
so I exoect they will be all doing diplomacy and such in the coming weeks
Paddy says:
Chivalry... I will discuss with Horde
sounds good to me
snoopy369 says:
we have a lot of options:
1. One team research feudal + chivarly, at the maximum speed possible with +/- 0 taxes
2. One team rsch at max speed, other team support with cash
3. *BONUS* Get Babylon to next era free in exch for their free tech and hoping it will be Feudalism
snoopy369 says:
I personally support #2
snoopy369 says:
but we will need to discuss it ourselves ... want to give you the same options tho so you can see it
Rhothaerill says:
Remember we need monotheism for chivalry as well.
Paddy says:
Desolators very concerned that other nations get Medieveal Infantry, thus making Immortals not so good
snoopy369 says:
yes
snoopy369 says:
this is true ... forgot that
snoopy369 says:
that makes #3 more valuable
snoopy369 says:
as there's a 2/3 chance it will help us
snoopy369 says:
and if nothing else it makes your road travel faster (river skipping)
Paddy says:
between the 3 of us we should get there fast
snoopy369 says:
hmmm
Paddy says:
excellent
snoopy369 says:
we will discuss amongst ourselves, but you do so also and in a week or so we can discuss the options
Paddy says:
Desolators are hoping on Knights
snoopy369 says:
Rhoth do you remember what Babs need that we have?
Paddy says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
Isn't your UU a chivarly UU?
Paddy says:
brb - phone
snoopy369 says:
k
Rhothaerill says:
Nothing IIRC.
Rhothaerill says:
But I'll check.
snoopy369 says:
really
snoopy369 says:
hhhhhm
Rhothaerill says:
Well, construction soon.
snoopy369 says:
oh of course
snoopy369 says:
unless they have it already, which we wouldn't know unless they told us
Rhothaerill says:
Bit of difference in tech point costs though. Construction is 20, currency is 16. Feudalism is 36. Possibly we could do a three way trade and all three of us grab each tech.
Rhothaerill says:
Mono is 32 by the way.
snoopy369 says:
well
snoopy369 says:
i'm just figuring we give Cons+Curr to them, 1.5 free techs basically, and get whatever they get free
snoopy369 says:
they owe us a tech anywho don't forget
snoopy369 says:
the math they didn't get
Paddy says:
hello again
Paddy says:
our UU is in Chivalry
Paddy says:
Keshik 4/2/2 Cav
Rhothaerill says:
Whoops I had it backwards. Feudal is 32 tech points, mono and engineering are both 36
Paddy says:
I f I remember correctly you have libraries
so thus would it then be best if we pumped gold at you for research
Paddy says:
as we set up barracks for war etc
snoopy369 says:
I don't think we have libraries?
Rhothaerill says:
No.
snoopy369 says:
a bit unusual for me but still
Paddy says:
ahh
Rhothaerill says:
Wartime footing
Paddy says:
I have a note here from 2800bc that you were building libraries
Rhothaerill says:
Not cheap for us anyway.
Paddy says:
ok
snoopy369 says:
we were using them for prebuilds i think
Paddy says:
old notes
Paddy says:
excellent
snoopy369 says:
we'll look at scientific specifics when the time comes just figured we'd start the conversation now so we have a ready answer
snoopy369 says:
we can see what Beta thinks as well
snoopy369 says:
shall send the olde chap a message
Paddy says:
good
Paddy says:
would like to have another Three Nation Alliance Summit soon
Rhothaerill says:
Oh shoot, I keep forgetting to declare war on him like I said I was going to at the beginning of the game.
Paddy says:
hehehe
Paddy says:
so any chance of letting us in on your plans for the Desolators
Paddy says:
I have an idea is all
Rhothaerill says:
The intention right now is to pound their city from a place of strong defense. We don't have many horses so we can't go in for the really fun manuevers I usually like.
Rhothaerill says:
If they take the bait for the trap I set this turn then so much the better as it will eliminate 4 of their vet immortals with the risk of only a few of our spears (if the RNG cooperates of course
Paddy says:
hehe
Paddy says:
which city are you attacking?
Rhothaerill says:
Invictus to start. After that we'll play it by ear.
Paddy says:
good
Paddy says:
that will gut them
Paddy says:
where are you from Invictus now?
Rhothaerill says:
Invictus and Sidon (and Antioch) are far enough from each other that they will have to really split their forces to handle both of our armies.
Paddy says:
yes
Paddy says:
a lovely step
Rhothaerill says:
3 turns away depending on whethery they block us or not.
Paddy says:
so n/e then
Paddy says:
near the gems?
Rhothaerill says:
Yep
Rhothaerill says:
err, sorry nw
Paddy says:
just looking for my own sake
Paddy says:
near the desert?
Rhothaerill says:
Yeah
Paddy says:
ok
Paddy says:
so to them you could be going either way
snoopy369 says:
oops sorry my start bar went away and i got posting on a topic
Paddy says:
ok
Rhothaerill says:
Yes.
snoopy369 says:
looks like rhoth had it under control
Paddy says:
Rhothaerill says:
We could still easily make a run right at their capital. It would be foolish at the moment, but we'll let them think we're thinking of it.
Paddy says:
good
Paddy says:
best that Aqua is off set in what is going on
Rhothaerill says:
If only we had more horses I could really give him a few things to think about.
Paddy says:
he knows we have a force of swords and archers out there
Desolator Dave (warrior) was following them at times - a main reason he is gone
so DR will also have to contend with where are they
Paddy says:
Bring on the Babs
Paddy says:
I provided the Babs with a full list of maps to get their forces into the area undetected
Paddy says:
and we have scouts ready to further assist them in that
Paddy says:
also they have a horse out scouting the roads ahead as well
snoopy369 says:
your horses are very much appreciated
Paddy says:
They are on their way
Paddy says:
It was with Honour that the first Regiment to move into your lands, is my own "Khan's faithfuls"
snoopy369 says:
hehe
snoopy369 says:
they are a great bunch
snoopy369 says:
i will need to go now ... have a few turns to play and then sleep
Paddy says:
thank you both for this chat
snoopy369 says:
thanks for the talk i shall post this and we shall have discussions amongst ourselves
Rhothaerill says:
Thank you too.
Paddy says:
Please look to the public forum in the coming 20 mins for news of SoZ
Rhothaerill says:
I can't say I'll be involved too much more in the coming weeks though, but I've had some time the past few nights.
Paddy says:
enjoy the celebrations
Paddy says:
Rhoth, be well and you enjoy your celebrations my friend.
may you all be well and may it be a great experience
Rhothaerill says:
Thanks.
snoopy369 says:
snoopy369 says:
cya
Rhothaerill says:
Adios
Paddy says:
bye
snoopy369 has left the conversation.

On turn 1450 BC the entire force moves 6. On turn 1425 BC the entire force moves 6-3-2. On turn 1400 BC the entire force moves 2. Horses may or may not attack Sidon on turn 1400 BC. On turn 1375 BC Sidon falls.
A possible addition to these forces may come from KBH which can build another horse on Turn 1500 BC, and from Bloodview, which can pop rush a horse on turn 1500 BC which will be built on turn 1475 BC. Both horses will make it in time.
Together with these 2 horses our Army West will number 21 units.

Been toying with crayons
Have been lookin at the sidon-situation from a different perspective. Suppose Sidon is built as a bulwark to prevent DR from invasion rather than as a rally point for their own invasions?
Have a look at the pic, with a large stack of immortals inside sidon, the 8 tiles within DR borders can be considered a killzone. With 10 immortals an attacker who ends his turn there can count on losing some 7-8 of his defenders. Our plan include 3 spears which mean we will lose 4-5 swords as well, ouch.
A worker has been spotted on the red cross, if he built a road the killzone can be extended to the green dotted line. I also think it is likely that another road will be built 4 of sidon (the "o") extending the killzone to the yellow line as well. All making Sidon very difficult to reach indeed.
If we want to take sidon, we have to cross the killzone somehow, the further away from the city this zone is, the worse it will be to us as it will allow DR time to retreat to heal.
To take the city, we will have to pillage the roads outside Sidon making the killzone smaller. We may have to sacrifice some horses but I assure you it is worth it.
When the killzone is back to the original 8 tiles we can move in for the attack. We and the bards have to move in parallell with our armies. I suggest the barbs move to 8,8 of sidon while we take the position 7,7. The bards need to bring enough workers to finish a road in one turn. We bring *all* our units while the bard bring all but their fast units.
Next turn the bards finish the road, attack sidon with all fastmovers they got, then move in with the rest to cover the wounded fastmover.
We do the same on our turn, attack with all fastmover we got and move in the rest to cover their asses.
The result will hopefully be that our fastmover have taken out enough of sidons defenders to weaken even the force of immortal waitin there. So instead of having 10 healty immortals, enough to cripple at least one army, aqua will have only half, barely enough to take out our defenders. The best thing DR can do after that is to flee the city
Weak points and how to address them:
Walls: Makes sidon a tougher nut to crack but as our first wave will be fastmovers most will retreat rather than die.
Healing: I am a bit unsure of the effect here, if healing occurs on end of turns, wounded DR immortals will not heal in time for a counterattack.
Defenders: Seing our stacks they may move in massive amounts of defenders(if they got them), which gives the first wave a tough task.
Espionage: Many if these problems can be dealt with by our vassal A-M. As they are directly before us (bards+horde) in turn order they can spy on the city immediately before the first wave. They will only see the units *inside* the city so a force of immortals lurking on the other side of it will go undetected, but that also makes it possible to take the city with horsemen only.
