Yep, the courts ruled the father had legal custody of his son since the mother was dead. An uncle and several aunts tried to say they should have custody but the law is clear a child stay with his parents unless that parent is a danger to the child. These and many more come from people who oppose "euthenasia" so the government withdraws life support instead of hastening a speedy death. They oppose assisted suicide so she starves instead, then they complain that she's starving.

The problem with this is that it ignores the sequence of events. After the 11th Circuit ruled against Reno in her request to take custody of Elian, she did it anyway. That is the point I am making here.

Berz, maybe. But the point is that starving a person to death if employed by executioners in putting criminals to death would most certainly be declared cruel and unusual.

Just suppose, Horse, that this case was a miscarriage of justice, a result ordained by a judge who would not hear or credit witnesses for Terri, and who credited as believable Michael's Schiavo's brother and sister-in-law, who, in contravention of the LAW, showed up to testify on the day of trial without having been on the witness list and with no prior opportunity for Terri's parents or the Guardian ad Litem to depose them?
