I know, but you haven't been much help so far.
Well, apart from all your help getting me onto Folderol.

All right then. Who do I talk to to get all the herbs converted into potions?
Will I be able to create my own sword, or have I wasted the points I've put into Create Weapon?
How long should I kill Nettles for? How tough do you have to be to get anywhere else in the world? Without dying frequently I meant.
Why has my mouse knackered itself, leaving me to browse 'poly with the dumb scrolly pad, and effectively denying me Folderol all evening?


I'll think up some more questions later.

You convert the herbs into potions yourself at a fire. You need high lore or you'll fail a lot. It's worth doing if you do have high lore as you can save a fortune early on. Potions are very powerful for low level characters especially.

Create weapon suxors. Beg Jam to respec your character to something not so lame.

Kill nettles to level 5 or so then explore a bit to the North East and West of the start. At level 8 or so (depending on class and how leet you are) you can kill ettins in the North for ubar xp for a few levels. Then the next good xp area is the ants. An entrance to the caves is handily placed next to the ettins.

You need a better mouse. I recommend the intellipoint series, which is optical with a scroll wheel but not the horrible new fat explorer shape.

Create weapon is great for customising your appearance only. Therefore it is great period.

I reccommend you don't hunt nettles to level, but enjoy fighting goblins and stuff that are level-appropriate and more fun than running in circles for xp.

And where do I find me some goblins? Thanks for returning to the thread by the way.

I've got a fairly decent mouse, but have never needed to instal anything for it yet.
I'll try to download the right driver and then have a go. If not, it's back to the mouse shop for me.

You can't. You can customise the APPEARANCE of any weapon you find though.

But I wanted roleplaying fun by creating my own Spellsword's magic death for all monsters, and then "growing" with it.

It won't be the same with just any old sword that I can find/buy, but I shall carry on. Where did you say the goblins were again?

Make your own sword, and then get Jam to put it in the game. No need to waste effort getting lame-o-create skills.

I was thinking of doing that. I first have to decide exactly what I want, find out what will be required to create it, and then take all the materials and a hatload of cash to wherever Jam says so I can get the sword.

the create weapons could be useful on a low magic world where there are no magic items.

But most modules and worlds have magical weapons. It's the only thing that can keep fighter type character remotely close in power to mages. Without magical equipment they are worthless.

I'm at level 3 now, after killing a Nettle Burglar, and now want to expand my horizons. I remember Spike necking an invisibility potion to go north towards the town, but I don't have one, and don't really fancy my chances against the bandits just yet. Where should I head?
I bought a cauldron and have plenty of collected herbs - do I need empty bottles to put potions in?

I have found that I don't need bottles - I've got 8 honeysuckle teas from only two flowers.

Got to the elf mire, but I haven't seen a great deal of excitement so far.

I made my way to Hawkwood, after a very nice chap called Davarian led me there. Killed tonnes of gnolls, got killed once, am now at level 5.

Woot! I had my first PvE experience today. I met up with some bloke in the Gypsy camp, and we went off hunting gnolls together. We both died quite soon after, but I found him again fighting nettles, and we got a party of 4 together with 2 other punters. This went fine, all we killed tonnes of orcs, but then 2 level 40 characters joined us, and took us on a proper quest. We all survived, although getting 5 exp for a kill was a bit disheartening. It was great fun though, and we're looking to get together again some time to kill more evil nasties!

Yes, go to Guild Wars.

Alternatively if you insist on playing NWN find another server you can play on when Folderol is empty. Use the browser to find a populated one, or read reviews online.
