The damage isn't the reason you're doing it. The character will have the "devistating critical hit" feat which means every time you get a critical hit the enemy must make a saving throw or die on the spot. More criticals (even with low damage) means lots and lots of dead bad guys per round. You can get 5 attacks per round (2 weapon style with specialization & weapon focus) and with improved great cleave you get a free attack everytime you kill an enemy. You can get a half dozen kills in one round if you're lucky.

Spellcasters casting the same spell repeatedly so that it's like one continuous undending spell is...

Well I don't want to type that many cusswords on this family friendly site so lets just say that I find it unpleasant. Especially while dazed or stunned or whatever so that my potions of heal are worthless.

Of course none of that stopped me from going back three times in a row

Potions of Heal were worthless... but potions of clarity swigged a moment before were priceless

Or constructs, or some bosses, or Pale Masters, or anyone with a decent Fortitude Save (The DC of Dev Crit is 20 + STR bonus, so probably somewhere in the low-mid thirties when you first get Dev Crit. So someone with Fort Saves in the mid 20's will save that half of the time...

Actually the big crit ranges are overrated, because against creatures with high armour classes you may only hit on a 14+ or something anyway. Having crits on 14-20 is just as good as 8-20 in that situation.

Oh, and to get Dev Critical you need at least 25 STR. Even starting with a Half-Orc, taking odd fighter levels and maxing STR that will be level 21. Most builds will be about level 28-33 when they get Dev Crit. Up to that point your character is using puny d4 kukris

Are there any more detailed maps around or do I have to make my own? Because I'm going to forget where things are pretty soon and while that would give me opportunities to re-explore, it'd suck if I needed to get there for some reason or other.

Interesting. I've actually been to most of those places so far and perhaps some places added later as well (unless Bull Run is a part of Dwar Proper ).

Yeah, there's a bunch of places missing on the Schematic map above Tim's Tower & Bull Run for example. Or the Formians.

Yahoo gives me an error for the artistic map, but I'll check back later. And I was wrong, with various other acquisitions, I can get better armor class with the flash suit than my armor. Fleetfeet/Fleetmind/Pain in the Arse boots are sold

don't rapiers have the same critical threat range? I'd rather use rapiers.

I fled the first Thirst area as fast as my legs could go, which was pretty damn fast even though I didn't have haste yet. So no Heat Miser's domain for me.

I just picked up the platinum ed a few weeks ago so I'm still a little new to both the 3rd ed rules and all of the toolset whatnots.

Is this Folderol thingummy available as an actual downloadable module for non-internet SP or does it exist solely as one of those persistant worlds?
