When did she graduate? Did she go to Cal? If so, maybe she was one of the ones I went to school with.

IN Canada your first degree-- The LLB is a BACHELOR of LAWS. It says so right on the degree on my wall -- Most lawyers thats all they have and you can go on to a masters or a doctorate.

Oh ,and a majority, but nowhere near all, law students have prior degrees.

In the states they seem to start you out with a JD or something IIRC and since the survey is American, their numbers would apply

Tp follow up, getting a law degree takes between 3 and 7+ years education

It takes 3 years for those people in the "mature" category that can demonstrate life/business experience combined with a strong LSAT score to get in even if they have no college at all.

Others get in after 2 years of undergrad or 3 or 4.

Still others have a masters and a doctorate before they come. It varies widely.

Oh and if people are going to get cute about how long a given degree takes, you need to factor in that some arts degrees are shorter and some engineering degrees longer into the picture

I don't understand why people have to get a different degree to study law in the US.

I don't know, I've never questioned it since my Canadian BACHELOR's law degree is very very marketable worldwide . . . perhaps because there is only something like 15 schools in the entire country that grant them.

WOW!!! Accounting is the non science, non math, no tech steal no city bribe/no great wall degree to beat this year!

And chem engineering thus defines the most LUCRATIVE and PRESTIGIOUS degree of them all; therefore the best thing to do in life for an educated person!

Outside of non-degree average salaries; being a drunken native working the oil rigs averages a good $55,000 for the first year.. while the fast paced life of a trade registered "Welder" nets a good $85k! On our same arbitrary and personally defined scale of what's worth what and when, these two suckers should easily be worth an ego-boasting $200,000 by the time anything else hits 6 figures!

What to look for in the future Of highest first year average salary (thus BEST ALL AROUND CAREER)? Well - analysts say 2006 is definitely looking good for "High school diploma lacking lumber mill worker", while "Cantonese guy who just moved to San Fransisco and forced a rear end collision to collect insurance claim" is hot on the rise for Q2/06!

Whatever YOUR field, and whatever your case.. just remember to boast now! Remember always: You make more than ANYONE else in the future!

To be fair, I'd say that the average grad student in an old style Classics program (which is not me BTW) would own just about anyone else for the smarts required and the hard work.

There's a reason the Empire was built by Classicists.

Put an end to popups!

I have to laugh.

I'd rather die than be like Asher. I can barely imagine what it would like to be to live an unexamined life, devoid of real beauty, art or thought.

I guess he'll say he will think about that when he's playing Doom IV at some Caribbean resort.

I guess my response would be "so will I... I can't imagine anything worse – except perhaps attending a line dance."

What engineering degrees take longer than 4 years?

And fine, a LLB is technically a "Bachelor or Laws" degree, but it's still not a real Bachelor's degree in that you can get it after high school with 4 years...

If it makes it any better, I would rather die than be a fat, balding man teaching about Plato to a bunch of disinterested Freshman wanting an easy GPA booster.

My life is anything but devoid of real beauty, art, or thought. It's just that my ideals of all of those differ greatly from yours. You're the kind of person who lives life in the past, I'm the kind that looks to the future.

Stick to teaching Plato, I'll stick to making people's lives better through my work.

I feel like I'm going places, I have a lot to do in my life. I look at you and I feel that you're already done. You'll be stuck teaching at a University for the rest of your life, with your wife that you tease about, and the girls that you oggle online but have no chance with. You've got decades of monotony ahead of you.

IIRC Co-op versions-- memorial Uni of NL for one. I could have sworn that some Honors science programs required a 5th year and a Pharmacy program or two ( but thats kile law IIRC in that you usually need some uni to get in)

I don't know what you mean by "technically" since there are Bachelors, masters and doctorate like the other degrees. A law degree is just like any degree that requires a higher standard to get in. I believe that physio, speech pathology, medical school and others have similar standards ( something more than high school) Its not a rare type of standard. If its not a "real " degree, what is it ??

Its actually a pain in a way since law students didn't qualify for "graduate student housing etc "when I was in uni. They may have changed that . . .

You've been doing a good job of fooling Apolyton then. I mean that materialist vulgarity seems to be your mission in life.

I guess you justify this to yourself by means of this facile relativism you're always espousing. But that's always the first excuse of those who are too lazy to work to appreciate the fine.
