It would seem to me that we either need to ignore/reject this proposal, and thus stick wit the BOH/Euphorica alliance idea, or go back to a more neutral stance and inlcude such a proposal.

I am leaning to the latter.

If we sign the Alliance of Three (A3) with BOH and Euphorica, I say we keep that quite as long as possible. Sign the non-aggression with DR. Keep the A3 aware of what we are doing. Use our pieces as scouts to feed info and maybe techs to the A3.

Can we do this? Does DR have visibility to our contacts and treaties to A3? Is that cheating?

Again this all depends on how the land dispute with BOH goes. If the land dispute goes against us we could flip this around and make BOH pay.

If we were part of an alliance, we wouldn´t be able to commit to a NAP with third parties. In a case of war we´d have to chose which treaty we´d honor and which one we´d break...

Oh there will be war. BOH and DR will be fighting eachother soon. DR and Euphorica are fighting or fought in the recent past. The choice is which side do we take.

From what I see, our relations with BOH and Euphorica have been good except for this land dispute.

Where do we stand on the BOH land dispute? Do we trust BOH?

I say we tighten up these A3 plans with BOH and Euphorica, but take opportunity to 'join' forces with DR and LB. Take DR and LB for what they've got. Sides are forming now. Take your pick - or take both. The A3 will be stronger if we line up with DR and LB then sneak attack.

Our rep will not be tarnished within the A3, and isn't that what counts?

I was thinking of something along these same lines. You make some very good points skro. In demogames, reputation is a much more difficult concept than in SP, which does work to our advantage.

I think Aqua may realize this is delaying, though. They have already proposed a "long-term" treaty; we didn't even ask for details, or anything that would show us trying to get things back on track.

If they see our horses, then the game would simply be up. Sheridan and perhaps another horse we could make an excuse for as scouts (we are going to map out quite a bit of new territory on the way there) but more would be pretty much unexplainable.

However, they're currently fighting a war. They'll have limited resources to spend on scouting, so it's possible we could keep them out of sight.
