Sorry, but I can't agree there. Strictly speaking, if we take 2 for every one unit we lose against 2 teams, then all else being equal we shall achieve a draw

No, this is WRONG. with cats, you can bombard a passing stack and when it's in your territory they do not heal. you sit in your city and if they attack you, the cats weaken the attackers. Better still, when you can't attack them and wipe them out, becuase you have fewer units, you can still inflict damage.

We need cats more than we need reg. immortals. Especially as we can build them faster.

I am advocating spears simply so we can pull our immortals out of the mountain. I *want* them to move, so they enter our territory and can be worn down. But if trip says we've lost already, then I guess he must be right. let's just disband everything now.

There's a difference between regular PBEM games and MPDGs. I've played in my fair share of both.

Even regular Immortals have a 63% shot at outright killing a vet Spear or Sword, 75% against regulars and 88% against vet Horsemen. That's much more effective than taking off MAYBE 1 HP at a time.

We're facing 2 enemy teams, we don't have time to wear them down.

Yes, I see MPDGs are full of people who can't be bothered making an effort when things get tough. You have to play the game as best as your ability allows, and not moan becuase you didnt start on a river, or becuase you'll eventually lose because the other tribe is argicultral, or becuase they got more bonus food, you just shut up and make the most of your lot, and that's the challenge & the fun..

We have a great potential here, will you *please* stop talking about how doomed we all are. Have you even looked at a save of late?

But a cat has a 100% chance of not being killed Trip, that's golden when the enemy has the numbers. Also, it can inflict 2HP of damage a round becuase it gets a shot on the *enemies* turn as well, and they are cheaper than immortals. I am suggesting we make 4-5 cats in cities that would take more than 5ish turns to make immortals & dont have barracks, so that we have the cats ready to beef up the defence of our main forces. I'd rather have some cats, some vet immortals & spears in 2 turns, rather than some half finished reg immortals that will miss the fight becuase *they are not finished*

Barracks Towns - I suggest we consider a pop-rushing plan to get some immortals out faster.

Killed their Horseman who destroyed Sidon.

Moved him back a tile hoping to draw the rest of their Horsemen out, where our 10 Immortals in Antioch can massacre them

I am dead against pop rushing unless there is a significant short term benefit. In this case I don't believe there is. We have 3 Barracks towns, which is not optimal but will do.

The current road makes the distance between the two towns 5 tiles. This cannot be shortened.

1400BC

The Horde moved their stack 1 tile 6, possibly to join up with the Euphoricans in the east. From what odd comments Paddy has been making, the Horde has a "Battle Group West" that they will now send over to bolster their initial 20-unit stack. They have admitted they will not risk entering our territory again with only 1 stack of 20 units.

Meanwhile, the Euphoricans have moved their stack one tile 3 to the next mountain, in order to force us to move units into Invictus, which is now within striking distance of their 2 Horses. I moved 2 Spears and an Immortal in, weaking our stack on the mountainm, which was probably their intention. I wouldn't be surprised if they attack our stack next turn.

Just in case this eventuates, I have moved 8 Immortals out of Antioch back towards Invictus so that next turn they can either return to Antioch, defend Invictus or defend the moutain.

Walls completed in Antioch. Not much else to report. Oh Moonbars - I switched 2 builds to Cats

Loaded the save that just came in. As expected, Euphorica moved back towards invictus. if next turn they enter the mountain north of Invictus, I say we attack with everything we have. Kill Kill Kill Kill.

The Gem Stack should move direction 1.

Horde moved south, they are 3 turns away from either IS or Antioch.. plan has to be to destroy euphorican stack next turn, then deploy all spears & cats to wherever the horde ends up. If they go for IS, we can also use healing imortals in the defence.

There is a Babylonian horseman sitting outside our territory. they are going to attack, I am certain. Luckily, we have units that will be built in the area next tick.. I think the horsies should move so that they can either join the attack on the Euphorican stack, or head to repusle the babylonians.

this is crunch time..

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Let's move the diamond stack into Invictus and then attack. Perhaps the Euphoricans will try to attack the city next turn and weaken themselves. Though I suspect they are waiting for the Horde to help them. Once the diamond stack is in Invictus I agree that we should try to take out the Euphorican stack.
Perhaps the babylonians are just trying to see the action?

Got spare money?

Moonbars - what of your discussion with Plato this morning?

Also, I think I copied you on my warning to the Babs to stay away. If they have ignored that and are near our territory, then they have clearly been asked by the Horde to harrass us in the south. I believe we should kill their units forthwith.

All the units on the Gem mountain have been moved to the roaded Gem mountain inside our territory (move 2). This puts them out of reach of the Euphorican Horses, but within reach of the mountain outside Invictus. All other units in the area have remained in Invictus.

This leaves the roaded mountain inside our territory empty for the Euphoricans to occupy. We will ahve 16 Immortals to throw at them next turn, with 3 horses if necessary. I'm not so sure of the wisdom of this with the Horde moving towards Antioch, but we have now rolled the dice! We cannot allow them to fortify on that mountain outside Invictus....although if we do, they will still find it against the odds to take Invictus, and we will have a growing stack of Cats with which to bombard them, and they will not be able to heal in our territory.

As for the Horde, let us hope that we can reach terms with them. We really need peace soon, as we are falling behind economically being the smallest nation. Note - Babylon is now in Monarchy.

I think we should attack. it's our best chance, when they are not fortified, and it prevents a situation where they can keep a lot of our troops pinned down whilst the horde advances.

Babylon coming to watch? after we told them we'd kill any unit they sent to our border? no, they are jumping on us. We must destroy instantly any babylonian horse that enters our territory.

We can attack the euphorican stack from inside out city, but we MUST do it next turn. Then the survivors, if there are any, can heal up inside the city the following turn, and move to meet the Horde after that.

I had a discussion with Plato of the horde, it is possible I may be able to get a peace deal.. Now is the time to take action and remove the Euphoricans, appearing strong and scoring a victory will do us a world of good, and will make bablyon think twice as well.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Rushing 30-shield Immortals in a city that produces 10 shields per turn is inefficient - it saves only one turn. The only option is Aquarius since it has a Barracks, but at 6-pop we need to move it up to 7 soon for the extra defensive bonus.

I therefore believe pop-rushing is counterproductive.

all of our units will attack from inside Invictus.

Even if we have poor luck, we'd be in fairly good shape with our spears & cats behind the city walls.

We need to do something before the horde stack is in position to attack as well - when that happens we no longer have the strength to defend both fronts, and we'll be finished. we must attack next turn.

Rushing an Immortal will save only one turn in a city with 10 shields production (ie, one turn of 10 shields and one turn rushing the remaining 20 shields, instead of 3 turns to build normally), and will cost us a pop point, thus reducing production below 10 shields in all likelihood. This means that when our GA is generated, we may not be able to complete Immortals in 2 turns in those cities.

quote:
Please comment on my attack plan for next tick..

I think we've agreed to attack this turn if they are on the mountain outside Invictus.

The Horde continue to hold out the carrot, but I don't believe for one second that they are interested in peace until they've had a crack at us.

but a 3 turn immortal is useless if the city has been razed. With our GA about to begin, I agree that pop rushing is not a good option, but it is an option that's better than losing. The time is past however, In Golden Age I expect we'll be able to do 2 turn immortals, so pop rushing those cities is pointless.

we MUST attack, we have little option. To delay means death from the horde either saking Inner Sanctum, or taking our iron supply. It would be bad if we GA and have no iron.

Units can reach Inner Sanctum from Invictus in one turn, yes? Attack this turn, when the euphoricans will not be fortified, is the best chance we will get. They will also not be able to tell the horde how many units we have, or what strength they are at, due to the city.. We should check next turn who has an embassy with us, and so judge the possibility that another team is passing information to the enemy.
