And indeed there will be time
To wonder, “Do I dare?” and, “Do I dare?”
Time to turn back and descend the stair,
With a bald spot in the middle of my hair—
[They will say: “How his hair is growing thin!”]
My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin,
My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin—
[They will say: “But how his arms and legs are thin!”]
Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.
For I have known them all already, known them all:—
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a farther room.
So how should I presume?
And I have known the eyes already, known them all—
The eyes that fix you in a formulated phrase,
And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin,
When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall,
Then how should I begin
To spit out all the butt-ends of my days and ways?
And how should I presume?
And I have known the arms already, known them all—
Arms that are braceleted and white and bare
[But in the lamplight, downed with light brown hair!]
It is perfume from a dress
That makes me so digress?
Arms that lie along a table, or wrap about a shawl.
And should I then presume?
And how should I begin?

Easy to tell sometimes. They get nervous just like men. At least around my superiority they do. because I'm that hot model to them, what you guys think of sexy girls and get all nervous.
Women touch themselves a lot when interested. They touch their own boobs (not necessarily with hands) etc etc. Touch their hips, thighs etc.. They might not even notice it, and if you're a loser, you prolly won't notice it either.. it's very subtle, and it's very there.
That is a definite case of 'yes if you do the right thing, I let you do the boom boom'.
In that situation, you need to take little charge. Feel it out if she is OK with it, you taking the charge. If it's ok, go for it. If not, then find another approach, feel the situation out. But if signs are there, most likely it's just a question of you doing and saying the right thing.
Also there are few spots, if they touch you there, it's definitely on. They are also testing the ice with an ice pick. It's like the ultimate 'hey I'm really interested in you adn I'll make this unoffensive touch but we both get it'. Those spots are hand in your arm in certain way kind of touch, in your thigh, in your chest, in your back, in your side.

Well it looks like there might be hope for me after all.
There's a girl who I'm very interested in doing two of the same courses as me. Problem is, while it is hard enough for a normal person to summon the courage to go for it, social phobia in general tends to double the trouble for me. I've gone through this whole semester not so much as even squeaking a simple 'hello' or finding out her name.
Just this week I was psyching myself up to approach her, I was so sure that I could do it and would do it. Then she enters my sight... mind goes blank, body freezes up. All I can manage is a little bit of eye contact and a faint smile. She couldn't look my way for anything more than a quick glance. She might have been blushing, but that could just be wishful thinking on my part.
But I have seen her behave in a way that suggests that this interest is mutual. I've caught her sneaking a few quick glances at me, turning away the instant I notice. And she does get fidgety sometimes.
Perhaps I'm being too hard on myself, expecting no less than perfection on my part when (or if) I initiate contact, and I am overanalysing. And of course, there is a bit of additional pressure because the semester ends next week, and there's no guarantee that she'll be doing any of the same courses I will in Semester 2. So the window is closing, and I may lose my chance forever.
quote: One good one I heard was from a convo I overheard in a bar....
One guy was talking about wanting to ask out a girl but was scared to. The other dude said, to paraphrase, this...
"So what if you get rejected, sure you're heart is gonna be broken...but the heart breaks from lonliness as well. And if it's gonna break ANYWAY, might as well go for it dude cause you got nothin to lose." |
Exactly what I needed to hear. Time to seize the last few opportunities I have in these last two weeks to talk to her and to be able to get in contact once the semester ends. And if she does shoot me down, it can't possibly be as bad as the loneliness, coupled with my wondering what could have been and kicking myself later on for not taking that step to find out.
