Only? It should also support 1280x1024 and 1600x1200. We're in 2005, for God's sake... Think of all those people with flatpanels.

You gotta be kidding me. My eyesight is lousy. But with my glasses or my contacts, I'm ok. Its true that if you increase the resolution, everything basically gets smaller. But you can ajust just about everything in Windows. I admit, the normal-sized icons are a bit too small, so I increased their size. And in Word, you can easily ajust the size of the fonts. And its all made crisper because of the higher resolution. Not to mention Cleartype. And remember that a 17" LCD is really 17", whereas a 19" CRT is really more like 18". So there's not a huge difference between them. So, like I said, its quite easy on the eyes
quote: A lot of people are using 15", that was pretty much the standard for awhile there. Now 17" are becoming pretty common. Once the flat screens start coming down in price, I suspect that people will start switching to 19", but that resolution isn't all that commonly used yet.
I can see using 1280 X 1024 on a 19", but I wouldn't consider it on anything less than that. Just to hard on the eyes. |
I don't have the numbers, but you probably underestimate the number of people with 19" CRT's or 17" LCDs. The native resolution of most 17"inch LCDs sold right now is 1280x1024. And there's no point using a 19"CRT at anything lower than 1280x1024. And as you probably know, not using your LCDs native resolution is not the best option. So it would be real nice if Civ 4 supported at least 1280 x 1024. For me and my fellow flat panelers, at least
