The Invasion Of Euphorica - Taking the Initiative! Remove this text

We have an alliance with the Horde, and our Golden Age has pushed us to the top of the demographics. We are once again producing settlers and our army is positioned ready to strike north against the old enemy.

A new age has begun, and with it a new dawn of desolation for our enemies.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

1250BC

Units in IS have healed and have been moved to Antioch in preparation for the offensive northwards. We are of course keeping an eye on the Euphorican stack near Mount Massacre, and will return at least 4 Immortals there if necessary.

A Settler has been produced, and he is moving northwards to resettle Sidon Phoenix as suggested by Moonbars. There are a further 2 Settlers on the way who shall settle the areas suggested by Masuro and myself. This will show our quick recovery and our overall power to our neighbours

Despite our little spat with Ankh-Morpork over the Antioch screenie I have accepted their Literature trade and send back Monotheism accepted. They have adhered to our non-trade clause with Currency, and although I'm not 100% happy with ormuzd's explanation of why the screenie was provided (to the Horde I believe), it seems likely that they did so only after knowing that we had reached peace with the Horde.

Note from the screenie below that I have switched a couple of builds to Libraries. This is not vital, and can be changed next turn if you guys don't agree, but I just wanted to demonstrate that we can pump out these Libraries in our top cities pretty quickly during this GA. My instinct is to let them finish, then build a few more Immortals to keep at home just in case some unscrupulous team (ie, any one of the 5!) decides to come a-calling.

I'm still not sure about what to do with Marcopolis, so a Cat build has been continued. Longer term I would just LOVE to start a build for the Pyramids, probably in Sweet Desolation using a Palace pre-build.

Got spare money?

Good work. I think this is a good time to build some cultural items. We have enough units to hurt the Euphoricans and now that they have no iron I think we can take them out without too much difficulty.
Once we have Feudalism we should think about building our defences with pikemen. Our Immortal stack can take care of the Euphoricans and it would be nice to have a strong defence at home to prepare for the inevitable attack by another civ. How about two pikemen per city plus the catapults that we have now? If we can afford it, a strike force of horsemen or cavalry (when we can get them) would be nice in case of an emergency.

Just confirmed with Krill via chat that they gave the screenie to Euphorica, knowing that we were already at peace with the Horde. I indicated our displeasure, but told them to keep their head down for now and don't be naughty again

They will be a good long term trade partner and he has agreed to keep us informed of any suspicious Babylonian troop movements, though I doubt there will be any.

i do not think they already knew we had peace.. That was a very dangerous turn for us - what if the Horde had seen the screenie and decided "What the heck, let's attack them anyway - we can take the town no problems"

I say they must be considered at best profiteers, and at worst an extension of Babylon and Euphorica.

Profiteers I agree - no doubt. But I'm being pragmatic about it - we must deal with someone and they are one of the "least bad" of an untrustworthy lot.

We need to get over this and move on. We've already moved on with the Horde, however I still harbour unsatisfied feelings of bitterness, and one day divine retribution shall descend upon them too. They destroyed our town - we shall never forget that

Confirmed with Paddy that they will move their troops 7 this turn instead of 8 into the Sidon ruins. This leaves us free to move our stack and Settler into the Sidon ruins this turn and re-establish the town next turn, while not impacting on their route into Euphorica.

It seems BOH's next target will be U2. Meanwhile we will march on Nirvana and then move on to Beach Boys to the north-east. Not sure there is much point in us moving further away than that.

Yes that should be our involvement overwith. Good source of furs at Beach Boys.

I say we settle in the direction of LBs with our next batch of settlers.. We'll be wanting to escort them with some spears and immortals.

1225BC

We've moved 11 Immortals, 2 Spears and 3 Cats to the Sidon ruins, together with a Settler to re-found the town next turn. They will attack Nirvana in 4 turns.

Killed a couple of Barb Horsemen, though unfortunately no promotions Also killed a Warrior in a Barb camp with a Horseman, netting us 25g. Moved a couple of Immortals into Aquarius to protect against the Barbs that are left.

BOH offered Peace + Feudalism.....sent back Monotheism accepted, and moved the Luxury slider up 10% in case we lose War Happiness. Stated Engineering as suggested by Moons....24 turns - any opinions on that one?

I've kept the Library builds - I'm keen for them, only 2 more turns. Another Settler built this turn is heading south, and Antioch will produce a Settler next turn. I suggest we send him towards the river south of Marcopolis, or towards the Wheat tile.

Building a Worker next in Mt Massacre as we desperately need more after adding some to our towns for defence reasons.

Sounds good. Expanding with settlers is a good strategy for us. And easier than taking land through force later in the game.

I feel we should be using the settlers to set-up points from which we can assailt into the Lost Boy's land. They are our next target, and we can be ready to attack them in about 15 turns.. just as our GA is ending. Perhaps we'll want to switch to a better goverment before any attack onto the LBs

Wow, just wow. So much to catch up on, and my apologies again for the absence. This time, though, I'm not delusional enough to expect to be able to go back to contributing regularly in the near future. I did update the spreadsheet for 1225, no surprising revelations of course. As for the everything else, I can only tip my hat to you guys and be proud of such teammates.

I see we have lots of settlers on our latest save - Where did u move them Aqua, I like the site 1 1 of aquarius, and perhaps the other settler should head north to settle the land the Euphoricans claim to be going to burn down as we advance..

The town of Sidon Phoenix was established in 1200BC (this turn just gone), on the site of the former town of Sidon.

The Settler in Inner Sanctum was sent to a position 33 of Aquarius. My idea there was to found the next town 111 of Sweet Desolation, plugging the gap between us and the LB and possibly providing our route for future invasion.

The Settler completed in Antioch was moved to Aquarius. Moonbars suggestion of 11 from Aquarius is good for the Aquaduct-free growth, however I prefer 114 to provide more space.

Actually, I would have preferred 444 from Antioch for this guy, but until we kill all the Barbs around, that area is too dangerous.

What's the consensus guys?

Only downside I see to 114 is sacrificing the forest, but that's not huge.

Well, 2 downsides really - firslty as Trip will say, not great having a mountain and a hill overlook your city. Secondly of course, the need for an Aqueduct.

but still, I prefer it over the squashy 11 location.

Tired of ads?

we will need to pack as many cities in if you insist on going republic, or the army support will kill us. 11 is the better site for this reason.

ah, but of course what I reallt mean is 111 In that case, 111 or 114 are both fine.. I prefer 111.

I actually composed a post about 111, to save the forest, then decided that had be considered and discarded for space considerations and made the forest post. All other things equal, I too prefer 111. It will leave us room for a city 444 of Auarius, too, which would fit perfectly with a city 444 of Antioch.

111 of Aquarius is nice becuase it's 2 tiles distant from the LB town down there.

1175BC

Stack moved north between U2 and Nirvana - they can see it now.

Euphorica offered peace accepted. Babylon offered peace + Monarchy + 75g accepted. Both I sent back unaccepted.

AM offered Monarchy, presumably expecting to get Republic in return. As our last discussion with them was inconclusive, I simply sent Monarchy back to them unaccepted. I'm not so sure about giving them Republic (we have a monopoly on it a the moment) until they've definitely agreed to give us Theology.

There's a Settler accompanying the Immortal 111 of Sweet Desolation to settle next turn, and a similar pair who will settle 111 of Aquarius the turn after.

Killed a couple of Horse Barbs, earning a promotion for our Warrior.

Moved up the pace of research with Engineering done in 19 turns now. Not sure if we have a deal for Engineering with anyone - LB are researching it I believe. If we scored a deal with them we could save a heap of cash since Horde are doing Chivalry.

Builds:

A bit unsure where to go from here - I've got a couple of Workers going as we need them after adding some to our cities during the TNA war. Also building another Granary. The rest are Barracks.

Comments welcome. Will need to start more Settlers, perhaps keep building Immortals too.

How about a settler pump in IS and a worker pump somewhere?

More immortals really depends on what we are doing after Euphorica.. I would rather get more settlers right now. This also helps out our unit support a huge amount.

With AM, I would say out stance should be: "You spied on us, so the deal for republic is being reevaluated"

With LB, I doubt we'll get Engineering off them..
