Yeah, because the Thirty Years War clearly happened AFTER the Reformation, didn't it ?
As did ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia, 19th Century European colonialism, American atrocities in the Philippines, Tsarist Russian pogroms against Jews, the Irish Potato Famine, the Spanish Civil War, the American wars against Indians, massacres of Guatemalan Maya by the army and paramilitary forces, apartheid in South Africa....
....it's a long list.

quote: As the full force of the Parliamentarian army poured through the breach, the defenders were overwhelmed. The church and surrounding entrenchments were seized and the Royalists made a fighting retreat back to the fortifications at Mill Mount. Cromwell, in a furious passion, ordered that no quarter was to be granted to the defenders of Drogheda. The Parliamentarian army swept through the town, slaughtering officers and soldiers. The Royalist governor Sir Arthur Aston was bludgeoned to death with his own wooden leg, which the soldiers believed to be filled with gold coins. Catholic priests and friars were treated as combatants and killed on sight. Many civilians died in the carnage. A group of defenders who had barricaded themselves in St Peter's church in the north of the town were burned alive when the Parliamentarians set fire to the church. Around 3,500 people died in the storming of Drogheda; many of those who survived were transported to Barbados. |

Clearly, no Christians were harmed by these wars.

quote: six per cent insist that the bombings were, on the contrary, fully justified. |
Typical torygraph crap. The wording of the statement was:
"Q: Do you think the bombing attacks in London on July 7 were justified or not?
A: On balance justified - 6%
A: On balance not justified - 11%
A: Not at all justified - 77%
Don’t know 6%"
This does indicate a sympathy for the terrorists, but it doesn't mean that 6% of Britain's Muslims will be willing to kill Brits for Islam's cause.
Two other questions can shed some light on this result:
"How loyal would you say you personally feel towards Britain?
A: Very loyal - 46%
A: Fairly loyal - 33%
A: Not very loyal - 6%
A: Not at all loyal - 10%
Don't know 4%"
"Which of these views comes closest to your own?
A: ‘Western society is decadent and immoral, and Muslims should seek to bring it to an end, if necessary by violence’ - 1%
A: ‘Western society is decadent and immoral, and Muslims should seek to bring it to an end, but only by NON-VIOLENT means’ - 31%
A: ‘Western society may not be perfect, but Muslims should live with it and not seek to bring it to an end’ - 56%
Don’t know 11%"
This means that 10% of the respondents feel no loyalty at all for Britain. A significant chunk are probably people who feel completely alienated by the British society. It's no surprise, then, that a part of these people justify an attack on a society they despise.
OTOH, those who actually think that Muslims should destroy the decadent west are ONE percent. There are thity times more people who do think that the west is decadent, but that only non-violent means should be used against it. So much for Islam as an inherently violent religion.

hmmm.......let me see. No i think there can be no reason for such actions, they just do it for fun i think? wouldn't you? or a better question might be - what would it take for you to blow yourself+others up?
I should elaborate that i dont agree with their methods at all - i hope they catch all the ones in london and they get put away for life. But the point was you need to understand the root causes of this global problem before being swift to judge.
Wiglaf i don't have a problem with yours or anyones religious beliefs, i just think we need perspective on these issues(check my sig links at the bottom for some very possible reasons to these issues). Religious bigotry or hate-mongering wont solve this problem. Still it has been shown over the last 50 years or so as a very good way to keep the hate+death going on both sides.
