Discussion involving homosexuality is below. If you don't want to read it, click the back button.
Anyway -- there's this kid, I think he's about 18. Goes to the same gym I do, obviously gay in his mannerisms. Or, more correctly, adheres to the flamboyant gay stereotype slightly (though not totally flamboyant). Anyway, he set off my gaydar, but I don't know if most straight guys would've seen it.
I talked to him a few times while waiting for machines, etc. He seemed kinda shy, nervous. While doing some lat pulldowns I noticed on his arms lots of scars -- looks like the kid has been cutting his wrists at least once, or perhaps more minor self-mutilation.
I decided to casually mention "my boyfriend" in conversation. He looked around cautiously when I said it, to see if anyone overheard...no doubt if someone reacted he'd have disassociated with me. He basically shrugged it off and changed the topic.
Fast forward to today (the above happened over a period of a couple months). By chance when I'm in the steam room after the workout, he comes in. No one else is there. He comes and sits a couple feet from me without saying anything, removes his towel and starts stroking it while looking at me.
I ignore it for a bit, so I look at him to acknowledge that I can see what he's trying to do...and he responds "did you want to go ****?"
I'm not about to f*ck around with some psycho-depressed kid in a public gym, but clearly the kid had issues. I decided I'd be a nice guy and maybe talk with him about it...try to get him to stop hating himself.
I asked him if he wanted to grab a coffee or something -- in hindsight, probably the wrong thing to say. He got the idea that I was trying to get to know him, like boyfriend material or something.
He put the towel back over himself quickly and responded, in a deeper than normal voice, "I'm not gay".
An uncomfortable pause.
I reply "Oh...well what was that then?"
He just got up and left the steam room at that point and hurried off to change and leave the room.
I saw him in his streets clothes as he left in a hurry -- he was wearing VERY baggy clothes with a "g-unit" t-shirt...
Poor kid. He's such a fairy. He wanted to **** around but he's "not gay". He's so desperate as to proposition men at a gym, but then flees whenever they talk about anything other than sex.
Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me to see this kid jumping off a bridge at some point.
Don't know why I posted this, I'm just so massively disturbed that **** like this still goes on in a country that even has legalized gay marriage.

I don't understand the gay world very much, but sounds like this guy does have issues.
My girlfriend is a christian, I try to explain to her the sciences why some people are gay. She refuses to believe. I even tell her things to open her eyes a bit, like "You know that sheep can be gay too? If God doesn't allow it, why would he make sheep be gay?", she will think about it and unfortunately result back to her usual answer "But God said not allowed".
If I were gay, I wouldn't wait for the world to catch up with reality.
I do have this theory though; I think some people are actually stuck between liking both sexes, but their brain cannot decide between the two, so their whole life is utter confusion from the day they hit puberty.
And of course, there are those who can decide, but some of them would not be natural.

It's obvious he's deeply conflicted about his feelings, gay or otherwise. It isn't your place to play counselor to this kid, but you can point him in the direction of someone who can help him professionally (or at least with better, more pertinent skills). Look up a local Gay/Bi/Lesbian support center and see if you can get a business card that you can hand to him. Make sure it's the type of place that when you call it can be completely anonymous if you want it to be. If/when you encounter this guy again, just be cool about it, don't corner him anywhere and just say, "After what we talked about last time, it's obvious you have a problem that I can't help you with, but you can give these folks a call. It's anonymous, they won't know who you are unless you want them to, and they can help you through this far better than I could."

I would gag if somebody did that to me and throw out the card before someone notices it. But, if I do see the kid again, I'll give him some gay/bi/lesbian support number. We'll see.

You must bring that poor soul into the light and show him that his fifthly degenerate sexual activities spit in the face of our lord. The bible specifically says that thou shalt not lay with another man.
Praise the lord! Instead of being gay for other men, tell him to be gay for Jesus. We should all be gay for Jesus for Jesus shows us the true path to salvation.
I'm gay for Jesus. You're gay for Jesus. We're all gay for Jesus!

sounds like a lost boy to me.. I feel sorry for him. He is gay, but has troubles with it inside of him. That's the worst I guess.
Anyway, a gay dude totally came on me last saturday when I was out for the night. Difficult to tell what it was, it wasn't anything he said or did, he in fact only talked to me like few minutes on the counter of the bar ordering drinks, and I totally knew he was gay. And he sent a probe to me to see if I was gay, but I subtly turned him down. He didn't get it first, so he sent another probe, so I still turned it down, because I just wasn't polite the first time. I just don't like another mans penis inside me, or on me. So.. I don't know.. that was a good night though, girls also came on to me. Now that I think about it.. boy and girls came on to me. Damn, I'm pretty damn good. And I initiated 0 of those come ons. Praise be mine.
