With the evidence on hand, of the treachery of Chancellor Palpatine, I met with Master Yoda, and asked how we should proceed. Master Yoda insisted that we execute him now, since we have him under our confines, and that he will not expect to be exposed. If you can convince the remaining council that Chancellor Palpatine is the master behind all of this, then there should be no troubles. Provided that the meeting is held in secret, and that no one inform him of the proceedings. The difficulty in this step lay in Anakin. As the representative for Palpatine, and the fact that he has turned to the dark side of the force makes him very dangerous indeed. I shall have to ask Mace Windu to confine him after the vote against Palpatine, so that we can prevent him from informing Palpatine.
After the plan had been carefully worked out, the council met again in secret. I found the irony bitter, that whereas I had been opposed to convicting someone without evidence, that I was now using the same body to convict someone with conclusive evidence, in using the bad to good ends. Thankfully most of the council agreed with me that the largest threat was Palpatine. Anakin sat in the chamber, wary of exposing his own position after he understood that I had indeed known of the details in his meetings with Palpatine. The council voted for Palpatine the first not under the explicit custody of the Council to be executed. Thankfully, Anakin's desire to protect himself superceded his desire to intervene on Palpatine's behalf, and Master Windu skillfully distracted him as the Council arrested Palpatine in force. He had no time to resist, genuinely shocked that the Council would have caught on to his devious schemes.

Not willing to expose himself as a Sith Lord, I watched Anakin's response to my attack on Palpatine carefully. I continued to assign R4 to monitor him, so that I would not be caught unawares by any such attempt against me. However, as I pondered more, I came to the chilling thought, what if Palpatine, though a Sith Lord, had nothing to do with the other kills? I had no evidence other than circumstantial that he was one of the killers, and even if we have killed Palpatine, that meant that there would still be one killer at large. Looking over the evidence collated, if Palpatine were not the killer, then that meant at least one ally among us had killed his fellow Jedi, since Dooku could not be responsible for both kills. The blaster killer seemed unfamiliar and unskilled with blasters, which leads me to exonerate the senators, since Padme and Bail are both experienced blaster shots. The curious thing is that while the Jedi are skilled in saber use, they have no need for blasters.
The next morning, my meditations proved fruitful. Rather than being frantic, or harried by the news, I was not surprised in the least to find Anakin my own padawan, shot by a blaster through the shoulder. He had died slowly and painfully, with his saber off the holster. While he may have been caught by surprise, the killer did not bypass Anakin's use of the force entirely. The curious fact is that only two knew of his status besides myself as a Sith Lord, Master Windu and Yoda.

Ben Kenobi made a mistake (possibly intentional). R4, or reismark, also knew of Anakin's confinement, and would probably be quite clumsy with a blaster. Also, Anakin might have noticed R4 following him around and been suspicious, therefore not being completely surprised.
