German-Italian Relations Up
Power plants in Italy will soon be recieving monthly shipments of coal from CEU mines. The first caravans are said to be coming in later this year around July. The secretary of trade says that such relations can only strengthen over time.
Border Skirmishes Reported on German-French Border
The German town of Milhouse yesterday was the scene of massive spitball exchanges between French and German Factions. The incident is said to have started when a traveling troop of French soldiers snubbed thier noses in the face of CEU soldiers. What followed was not a pretty sight.
'I don't know what happened,' An Austrian recruit said, 'but someone on one side shot a big wad of goo, and the next thing I knew the air was full of them, thousands of spitwads darkened the sky and pow, I was down, soaked. Next thing I recall is you sitting next to me with that notepad and pencil of yours.'
Commander of CEU forces, President Elect, Ioannes I commented on incident, rubbing his head which still bore a large lump. 'French snobbery is at an all time high. First they snub thier noses at their allies, refusing to help them to become modern nations, and now they're snubbing thier noses at us and taking our soldiers down with spitwads. Whats next? Sticks, Stones? They may break our bones, but words will never hurt us!'
Aside to not having any clue whatsoever as to what Ioannes meant by that, this editor also wishes to report unconfirmed reports of actuall rifle exchanges near Nancy. Is this the begining of hostilities, or are our soldiers just tired of regulation armament? Only time will tell.
In response to the events, Ioannes has called the CEU Armies V and VI with artillery batalions 3-8 to the German French border. 'We will have peace in our time.' Major Payne of the 4th division is quoted to saying, 'or else.'
Naval Blockade Unfair
The CEU secretary of Foriegn Relations and Trade with All Who Are Not Opposed to Us whined considerably concerning the British blockade of the Channel. 'Its unfair!' He is quoted as saying. He even said what he was quoted as to have being said, 'Its really unfair! I'm going to hold my breath untill you lift this blockade!' Later that day he passed out and is currently recovering in the Amsterdame International Hospital for the Mentally Durressed. Ioannes said, 'I have apointed someone else as temporary chair for that posission. If the British don't lift the blockade we'll have to find a permament replacement. Eitherway he'll have a nice vacation in Indo-China-America sometime this coming winter.'

War Declared
The incidents of earlier this year have escalated dramaticly. Small scrimishes were occuring along the Nancy/Strasbourg border, killing civilians on both sides. As a reaction, a mob of citizens in Strasbourg rioted, and even started marching on Nancy. It seems that citizens from Nancy were doing the same thing and soon the two clashed, with neither side finding resolution. However, French troops came in and dispursed the crowds before CEU forces could arrive on the spot. The commanders over-reacted when they saw French troops kicking around Strausbourg residents, and they ordered an asault on the French troops.
War followed. As the news of the hostilities spread throughout the union, people refused to go to work, some even started rioting. Local police were able to contain the mobs, but Ioannes I claimed executive privilage and ordered the French be chastised for daring to lay hands on citizens under his protection. He also stated, 'German peoples residing in France will be liberated. No longer will they have to put up with French snobbery.'
Miracle at Dunkirk!
At the outset, the two nations were at deadlock, neither able to make an advance. But under Impetus Maximus (the Latinized name of Gary Bowderhowzensterner), a plan to break the deadlock was hatched. Defying the British blockade, German ships sailed from Antwerp under dark of night, slipping past British blockades, carrying a deadly cargo of three divisions of the First Army. They arrived shortly before dawn, to find Dunkirk completely empty, free for the occupation. Landing there, they prepared for an assult on Amiens. Continued on Page 4

French Control Slips with Amien's Fall!
An artillery barage (no spitwads) pounded the defenses of Amiens, followed by an assault by an Austrian regement. With Amiens fallen, the French government was thrown into chaos, government beaurocracies were either disbanded or doubled in size, and general chaos concerning the war which had become a fierce reality. Little did they know this was only the begining.
Blitzkriege Siezes Paris!
What is now becoming known as a lightning war, has now taken Paris by storm. Mobilized forces moved quickly through Amiens, leaving it virtually defenseless, and took Paris. The proud senate which had denied its allies help fell without a clear ally, save possibly Britain, to come to her aid. Even then, Ioannes I is quoted to have said, 'we don't care what the British think. This war is about loyalty and soveriegnty. If the British were wise, they'd stay out of the whole mess.'
Half the CEU forces then cut back and took Reims and then, with an assault from two sides, took Nancy. Military engineers quickly took thier places and built roads and railroads for the two more divisions to enter French territory. The Blitzkriege continued to take Le Manns, Remmes, Orleans, and Dijon in quick succession, spreading themselves thin. Temporary defenses were thrown up while waiting for the rest of the army to catch up.
Editor's Commentary
When Paris was secured, Ioanes visited the city, with a very mixed reaction. Granted, most of it was negative, but there were a few who were glad of CEU intervention. This is where he called to the people of France, and all Western Europe, to join him in Charelemagne's true vision. An empire ruled by free thinking individules, equal under the law regardless of wealth, nationality, religion, etc. This editor thinks this is absolutely absurd. Charlemagne was a crazy coot who conquered for the sake of conquering. If Ioannes is invoking him, what does that make him? However, I am pleased that he is for freedom, particularly since I'd be arrested for saying this anywhere else. But is martial law necessary to keep the peace? Is this the answer? Mabey we should look the Athenian Empire, a democracy, which grew too powerful. Let us not become that arogant!

Russia is shocked at the violence of german aggression against its peaceful neighbour. "Germany is jeopardizing german interests everywhere by this," said a very serious prime minister Nicholas II this evening.
"It is hard to see how peaceful relations with Germany can be upheld after this. We ask Germany to pay damage to the french government, and retreat immediately from french territory, or Russia will enter the war on the french side, which will have serious consequences for german possessions in eastern Europe and the Balkans. We ask the mediterranean alliance to look kindly upon russian favours in the past, and reconsider their relations with the german aggressors. If the mediterranean Alliance persists in their support of Germany and her ruthless war machine, they will face immediate russian attacks at key points along the turkish coastline. Contrary to german custom, it is russian custom to warn before declaring war. We ask our brothers in Great Britain with the Democratic Alliance, to consider this attack on France an attack on our alliance, and a violation of the treaty, which intentions for peace and democratic respect have since been so scornfully disrespected by german leaders."
Standing ovations followed from members of the parliament, which represent russian peasants and nobles from all over the country. It was a very moved and shaken, yet determined russian leader who stepped down tonight to receive the applause of the russian people. A russian people, who now faces war, and stands as united as ever before. The prime minister called for a general staff meeting, to discuss the governments course of action, and await the reactions of our allies.

Just in my defense however, I did give warning. Sure, I didn't say, 'I'm going to attack you next turn, whahahahaha!', but I did give hints that this would happen. And since I wasn't contacted on anything, I thought, 'might as well.' .
And techincly, Hardjoy, your declaration isn't in advance either. Sure its before you play your turn, but its still after mine so you might as well have waited as far as I'm concerned, though it is good to know we still react.
Hey, Grothgar, I want a new map come your turn.
