Today the Chancellor,David Lloyd George, set out the Liberal Goverments budgeting plans for the next year. The huge surprise in this years budget was that military spending had leapt from 5% of the GNP to 13% of the GNP. This increase is unheard of.

To a rising chorus of disbelief the Chancellor explained that this increase meant that more heavy machinery factories woulld be opened, leading to more jobs and thus a more prosperous economy, this quieted most of the mumblings.

The Chancellor also pointed out that this budget increase paved the way towards a bigger and better navy, many advertisements placed in the papers to encourage people to serve in the navy. Naval persons increased dramatically after the war in france, the public seeing that the life blood of the british isles was its navy.

The Chancellor also set aside an undisclosed amount of money for the engineer brigades working the country, when he spoke of them he called them industrious, and also heroes, they put aside their own needs, for the needs of the country and the empire as a whole. Also the Chancellor mentioned that many had volunteered to go to the other lands of the empire after their work in the UK was finnished.

Mr Lloyd George promised that this huge military budget would not mean a lesser quality of life for the citizens of the empire and predicted an era of growth and huge prosperity, he stepped down to a thunderous applause.

Rail Work Sparks War with Italy, Jugoslavia and Turkey!

Tired of months of Italian delays, Spanish troops have destroyed the contencious Barcelona-France RR. However, it the course of their duties, our troops were fired upon by the Med League Border guards.

It is believed that the Med League Border patrol was commanded by Captain AI, a noted fool who finished at the bottom of his class in the Verona Military Academy.

True to their professionalism and restraint, the Spanish troops refused to return the fire, and have settled into fortresses along the border.

Spain calls upon the Italian, Jugoslavian and Turkish governments to return to peace with Spain before things get out of hand.

The firing off some italian troops lead by Alger Innefieciento on the spanish rail engineers shall not be interpreted as an act of war but rather as an act of the paranoid captain ordering the attack.
Alger is believed to be a distant relative of the similarly named General who along with a German colegue caused the well known Trieste Blockade incident.
Captain Alger is now facing Millitary court and will likely be deprived of his titles...

Alliance with Russia Declared Null and Void

Although the Democratic Alliance has itself been defunct for well neigh a year now, the alliance bonds created from that former block has remained. But not any longer, as new information about Russia's conduct under the old alliance breaks faith in the current ministry of the CEU. Anonymous informants claim that Russia took part in a technical operation called 'tech hoaring', which was strictly against the outlines of the former alliance. While the penalties of said alliance are no longer applicable today, Ioannes felt it was unwise to mantain an alliance of any sort with Russia. In an uproarous speach he said: 'The CEU will not stand such backstabbing! We declare all alliance agreements with Russia void, and all links to her sundered!'

Smith regretfully follows Germanys lead

After taking the fastest freighter to Germany to meet with President Ioannes to talk about Germany breaking its alliance with Russia. Mr Smith was reportedly worried that this could lead to a europe wide war, which would be devestating after the prolonged peace.

However after being shown the intelligence reports Mr Smith has told a press conferance that regretfully he would have to follow Germanys lead and also cancel the alliance with russia, he commented that the duplicitas nature of Russias dealings means he had no choice.

Mr Smith also commented, however, that he didnt want this to be seen as an aggressive act towards russia. "It should be noted that unlike our erstwhile allys germany we in britain love peace and are trying to keep it."

Russia kindly ask her former german allies to offer proof of the allegations raised, and in another matter, to raise the blockade of the baltic sea. "We have no quarrel with the german people", said Prime Minister Nicholas II this afternoon in response to german and british allegations and hasty departures. "Russia will consider all options available in light of the new situation, and unless our former allies can answer satisfactorily, we can not but see their hasty withdrawal from the alliance as an act of hostility towards the russian nation, and take steps to see the blockade raised, and the evidence in question presented to russian courts."

Mr Smith would like to point out that under the old agreement of the Democratic Alliance, sharing techs with our rivals of the Mederterainain League was forbidden. However intelligence intercepts have proven beyond doubt that this agreement has been broken.

Do not try and place the blame on the peace loving nations of Britain and Germany, we are just responding to an act of espionage performed after the democratic League was formed.

Britain and Germany dont need to explain "this horrible charge" we have our evidence and our evidence is conclusive enough to break our alliance with Russia.
That Russia gave you the technologies we gave him in confidence is undisputable, as such Britain and Germany are completely within their rights to withdraw.
If Russia didnt give you the technolgies then you would only just be coming up on Democracy, not giving Germany guerilla warfare, so please stop this protestations of your innocence.
All we are doing is stating the facts, we want no conflict, we are just doing as is our right.

False accusations against an old ally, with no hard evidence presented, is hardly a sign of friendship. Russian tech trade remains russian business. Of course its just an excuse for withdrawing from the 'alliance', and not a very good one at that. Russian intelligence will refrain from revealing interesting bits about the double dealings of her former allies, to further aggrevate tensions.

One can only wonder what the turkish foreign minister was thinking of, trading Guerilla Warfare to the germans...

Yes Gary, your facts are flawed. I took nothing from the Ottomans, nor they from me. Guerilla warfare was given me by Italy as part of letting him take a piece of France.

The only reason the CEU is withdrawing alliance with Russia is that she has been unfaithful under former agreements, therefore we cannot see that she will remain faithful to her current agreement.

As far as I'm concerned, my informant, who shall remain annonymous unless he/she wishes to be known, is trustworthy in this matter. That is good enough for me.
