List updated up to Dimorier Maximus, 137 valid votes casted, 20086 points.
Ribannah,
Though highly interesting, this discussion is rather off-topic, so suffice to say that Winters' reply doesn't exactly convince me. As you said, the whole issue involves a lot of speculation.
Master Marcus,
Yes, you can use those points left but not like that: that way you would vote for 17 countries while 16 is the limit. (This is why I threw out the Olmec in the first place, I'd much rather vote for both the Olmec and the Harappans but the rules are the rules)
Gramphos,
Ah, Civ3 style, ok. Hadn't though about that yet, that explains a thing or two... Much better like that, thanks (even though it's too late now ).
Adm.Naismith,
I agree with every point you make, thanks for posting that.
When the time is there I'll contact Markos (or Dan) and discuss with him the best way of delivering this list.
A short explanation on the civs (ala the Civ of the Week feature, I suppose) is a good idea, but I think it would be good to write an explanation on all civs, 'cause apparently to Firaxis they were all 'less than obvious', or they would have included them all in the default game in the first place... I'll make a start with that for some of the most popular civs (the first 12-13 civs will almost certainly be in the final list so summaries for those are needed anyway) today and post that later (probably in a new thread) so we can discuss what these summaries should look like (as far as people care).
I definitely don't plan on altering the layout or length of the list from how it looks in the first post. It's quite possible that Firaxis for whatever reason doesn't like certain civs and needs more options than just the first 8/16/32 or whatever. This list is most valuable to them when they have all available info, unfiltered and unaltered.
Internationalist,
Well, as I said in the very first post in the very first thread (and this thread):
quote: If you wish to change your vote for any reason, that's possible but please don't edit your existing post or just post a new list. This would be very confusing for me to keep track of. Instead, only post the changes you wish to make. [...] |
So don't say I didn't warn you... In any case, I counted your 20 points for Zimbabwe now.
Rogan Josh,
You have 60 points left.

Carthagenians +20
Inuites +20
I just wanted to add that you shouldn't be able to vote for civs which are already close to existing ones in Civ3. IMHO i think that the Ottomans and Austro Hungarians are too close to the Persians/ Greeks and Germans respectively. Of course, you can just not play with the others.
I chose civs in areas which dont have any yet, so that if possible, you can play with all of them, and still have a fun game. I was going o choose only the Vikings to represent all Nordic Countrires, but since im a Finn, I know the differences between the Norwegians,/Swedes/ Danes and the Fins.
The civs which I choose should add more exitement in other parts of the world other than europe. The Americans now have 5 civs. Europe has 7 civs (w/o russia). Africa has 3 civs. Asia has 7 civs (including Russia, Australia) Now, at the beginning of the game, there are regional rivals and more permutations for peace and war between the rival regional civs.

Aren't we actually suggesting tribes only and not actual Civilizations yet? I thought that was the whole point of the game, to make your tribe into a civilization. Just a thought though.
Regarding tribes like the Egyptians and Aztecs, if their civilizations had lasted, their cultures might have impact on modern day societies, but sadly no. So, even if some of the tribes suggested are considered too 'minor' or unimportant culturally now, at least, in a game like Civilization, there is a chance that they would rise and have some significance!
Anyway, my votes:
Koreans 20
Vietnamese 20
Khmer 20
Thai 20
Indonesians 20
Mongols 20
Ethiopians 10
Malians 10
Ghanaians 10
Nigerians 10
Pardon, but Indonesians and Javans, what would be the differences? Would the Indonesians encompass the Sumatrans, Moluccans, Buginese, Timorese, Balinese, Javanese etc.?
