As far as I know it will not support 24b. You can edit in 24b then use adaptive to 256 for final format.

Great minds think alike! I just found this thread - looks like I'm not the only one with the idea of changing the wonder images. Here's a thread I started on the topic:

Some other images that need changing, IMHO:

Battlefield Medicine
Colossus (okay, but could be improved)
Cure for Cancer or Longevity (my one image could be used for either)
Great University
Great Wall
Oracle (would be good, but the real Oracle looked nothing like that!)
Theory of Evolution
Universal Sufferage

Changing others like Hoover Dam is possible of course, but merely icing on the cake, whereas all of the above must be changed!

I'm stumped for picture ideas for most, though. Any ideas? I've mostly been using the Google Advanced Image Search

Which is nice cos you can specify file size (I'm only looking for "very large") and color (only "full color) so you don't get a picture that's good but too small or black and white.

Some further thoughts.

The image of Magellan's Voyage is actually of a reenactment of the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria voyage, but I figure its at least a stopgap to replace the horrible current one.

Trading Company is a real tough one - does anyone like these, or have a better idea?

I lightened Copernicus, but in fact I don't like the lightened one much either, since he never actually had a giant observatory in the first place.

By putting the stats at the bottom in this mod, does that have to cover up part of the wonder pic? If so, I would suggest minimizing that as much as possible.

My pics are a mix of photo and non-photo. No way one could do all photo. Where on earth would you find a photo of the Great Library, or Hanging Gardens, or Pyramids (as they actually looked in the day, with golden caps and so forth), etc etc?? Only recent wonders or those that survived until modern times even stand a chance.

So open your mind to computer art . I think its much better to have computer art of how a wonder looked back in the day, then a photo of the rubble and ruins they often are today.

The photo that I got of the pyramids is very good, and we are thinking of using that, we don't have to see it as it was back then. We can also find real photos of things that are very similar to the original great wonders. Me, dark, and che have agreed to find all dramatic photos for every single one. You could make computer animated ones to allow people the option!!!

I didn't realize you'd already vowed to have a photorealistic pic for each and every wonder, with nothing digital whatsoever. Your loss, in my opinion. Hopefully there will still be some that I've made that you like, since I do have photo ones. Feel free to use whatever.

I still would appreciate feedback however, and I'm hoping I can use any you guys come up with that fit my criterion.

there should be a section for photos or CG for wonders.So people can select as they like.Don't you agree?

By the way,some of the picture you found for wonders are really good,like hanging gardens,Magellan's Voyage ,New Wall Street and Manhattan Project.

I like the image you offered for the Cure for Cancer or Longevity. I also have a similar image to your Theory of Evolution one.

For the record I like CG images but if we can use real dramatic images at all, than that is my preference at present time.

	Era Art Put an end to popups!

On the issue of era art that is something that would really excel wtih CG images if the look and feel is cogent.

What do you guys think, should we do something with the era art or leave them? I like them but they seem to lack impact IMO.

Harlan, I think for the things like Longevity, and cure for cancer, we can use CG. Just because there really isn't any photos of those. Also, I think that we are looking for the dramtic photos for the wonders that are still standing today!!!

Have you seen sn00py's Wonder pix? They're on his website www.civer.f2s.com. I like the artistic filter he applied--very compatible with the Tower of Babel style, IMO.

I did just check out sn00py's version. One thing I really like about that version is that you can easily see through the writing area to see more of the picture. For che's next version, I was wondering if that style could be used, except cut out alot of the blank space so the height of the writing area is only about half of the size in sn00py's. That way you get the info you need, and also can maximize the viewability of the wonder pic itself.

By the way,
A lot of the images I've done so far look like CG, but actually aren't. They're paintings that have been scanned in. For instance, Statue of Zeus, Hanging Gardens, Labyrinth, etc. At some point it becomes hard to tell what's what - CG, really accurate painting, or real photograph?

Yeah, I checked out SnOOpys filters, they are nice for a more artsy feel with the default. Funny thing - that was the first mod I did until I decided to make news ones. Then I saw che's mod and saw the info added and the rest is history - as they say.

Our partner went to home to Italy for a few days and he did not want to set deadline for "free" work before he left. It's a cultural thing.......

*) Magellans Voyage (what in the name of whatever deity you happen to believe in where they thinking?)

*) Smith's Trading Company, but that's already been taken care of.

I would like to offer one bit of criticism - I think identifying the age is unnecessary - if you're in the age, don't you know what age you are in?

I would prefer to see that space hold the name of the wonder.

Maybe you guys can help me.
I am adding a new great wonder: "Hollywood."
I altered the civilopedia entry, but I don't know how to point it at this picture I have for it. It doesn't seem to be in the editor, or the hacked editor I am using. Maybe someone can help?

Incidentally, if Che could post the scroll pieces he used for the bottoms of his image, it would be cool, as I can use them to unify my game. What font did you use?

Thanks for doing this I really did hate always having to dig in the civilpedia to find out when it expires etc. Glad you guys are making this nice little mods. The little mods really improve the game! Thanks!

Been back from Italy from for about a week now..., and ready to go to sleep for the night :-)

Anyway...

couple of things:

1. Anyone can point me to the Snoopy mod that someone mentioned? I like his work, I'd like to see what he did.

2. Someone needs to come up with some sort of way to vote on the modified pictures. As much as I support freedom and would love to give everyone the opportunity to have their favorite picture as a wonder mod... I also tend to enjoy some free time so I'm not very keen on the idea of having to come up with multiple sets of pictures.

3. When the whole thing is finalized I will be happy to distribute a Photoshop action so anyone with PS 5.5 or PS 6.0 can make their own.

Civ on!

I'm back online and in a new home (with some massive bandwidth - yes I moved from Tokyo to Kawasaki simply because of bandwidth!)

Anway, regarding the comments about the era. I stand corrected on the idea. I offered it up as a way to be more complete with our work. So we will file it with the 2 & 3 dollar bills ideas.
