okay. you are fond of definitions, so I will tell you the ones i was presupposing.
sexual orientation: related to sex, that which turns one on.
homosexual: turned on by those of the same sex
paedophilia: turned on by children
see the relation?
G: I too think it would be horrible, and will always stand against it.
It is wrong, just like homosexuality is wrong.
That comment was fairly heavily laden with sarcasm.

all kinds of genetic defects and abnormal behavior can be seen in certain parts of certain populations. why would homosexuality be any different?
quote: That, my friend, is an opinion. Not a fact. |
I think that he was stating it as an opinion. I would also agree that the best enviroment for rearing a child is a nuclear family with a father and a mother.

dunno, he said it not me. but then again, i don't have extended experience with homos either.

Not that news is any indication of reality, but most child abuse cases you hear of are men molesting boys. Or atleast that I've heard of. I don't know if he has a source or not, once again, i am not him.

Obviously I am not darth, so I cannot speak to all of his arguments. You deemed it necessary for me to respond, so in typical stoic tradition, that is the best i can do ;

"In God We Trust" was only added to our currency in the 1950s, during the same time frame that the phrase "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance. I believe the rationale was to "smoke out the Reds." Ahhh, McCarthyism... those were the days.

Hmmm... so that's flaunting homosexuality? You really think heterosexuality is flaunted less? Strip clubs, nudie bars, raves with girls dancing in cages... please, get real.

Fair enough. Obviously, he didn't give you much to work with, but you seemed to agree with what he had to say.

i think indifferent is a more appropriate word...
as for differences, of course their are differences. I was merely stating a single similarity. orientation, and causality.

Let's get a few things straight:
Edit: Got the definition wrong.
Pedophilia is defined as the desire to have sex with children or the act of having sex.
The case where Pedophiles do not act on their urges is rightly legal (at least for now). They have every right to think or fantasize of what they want, even if you or I disagree with it. I certainly don't want a thought police running around.
But the case where Pedophiles act on their desires is rightly illegal (within reason). Not because I think it's disgusting, but because of the simple reason that children cannot give consent.
quote: all kinds of genetic defects and abnormal behavior can be seen in certain parts of certain populations. why would homosexuality be any different? |
Genetic defect? What about having blue eyes or red hair? Are those genetic defects?
There's no such thing, objectively, as a genetic "defect." But there are genetic traits that help individuals and populations survive better.
And homosexuality is indeed a genetic trait that increases the odds of the survival of a population. It limits a population from increasing too far over its environment's carrying capacity (obviously, that's not as true with humans due to our intelligence). If it didn't help survival, it would've been selected out a long time ago, and it certainly wouldn't come up in the frequency it does today.

Ever seen a girl wearing skimpy clothes in public? Isn't that "flaunting" her heterosexuality (not that I'm complaining )?

no, but things like misformed extra appendages, two headed goats, etc. there are all kinds of genetic mutations that are not necessarily eliminated by natural selection.

Yes, well, I'm guessing that's because everything you said was absolutely correct.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to lie down. Typing that above sentence has made me feverish.

MrFun: yes i did. their are differences but their are similarities. You did not list a complete set of characteristics for homosexuals, or heterosexuals either. therein you would find differences that i would consider to be wrong also.
Your argumentation professor isn't doing very well with you...

I dislike bigots.
They attempt to keep down the next step in society's evolution.
I dislike bigots.
Bigots are the only thing holding society back from pure freedom. If it weren't for bigots, people would have the freedom to do what they choose within the confines of human curtousey.
I dislike bigots.
Bigots seem unable to comprehend the simple fact that gays, blacks, women, and and everyone else are all people, that we all stem from the SAME line, and that making it a personal crusade to change other people is not only a waste of a person's life, it is a waste of their's as well.
I dislike homophobes.
Whether based on Biblical or "natural" law, they take the parts which best serve their purposes and leave the rest in the dust. They attempt to control another's life because THEY ARE DIFFERENT (Oh no, not different!) They believe that their interpretation is right, and therefore, anyone who differs has no right to live. I find homophobes the most disgusting, despicable, VULGER excuses for human beings.
I dislike conservatives.
Conservatives, at least in this country, discount the basic principles that this country was founded on: Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happiness. Those who are religious also try to erase the barrier between church and state, which is another founding principle of these United States.
I dislike conservatives.
They bring the Right to Bear Arms to the forefront and hide behind it, while the rest of the Constitution and Declaration are sent to hell. Most of these right-to-arms people are also "pro-life." HA!
I dislike Pro-Lifers.
While I agree that life is sacred, Pro-Lifers are hypocrites. You'll find that many "pro-life"ers also support the Death Penalty. Pro-Lifers seek to eliminate stem-cell research, research that could save not hundreds, not thousands, but HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF LIVES . Once that baby is born, Pro-Lifers will say "**** it, lets move out."
I dislike fundamentalists.
They skew the teachings of their religion, Christian or Muslim. Those "Christians" who decry homosexuals and kill abortion doctors violate the laws of Jesus and of the Ten Commandments. They are not true Christians. They hide behind their religion, not willing to take responsibility for their COWARDLY actions.
I hate Giancarlo.
I told you before, the only people that I hate are based on their personality. Giancarlo is probably at the very top of my on-line list. He has no purpose on this planet except to make sure everyone else has as horrible a time as he is having. When he looks back on his life, provided he makes it to that age, if he does not see failure, he has certainly never reached maturity, adulthood, or the intelligence level of a human being.
