Giancarlo- fruity little political whiner who liked fascism
CivNation- raved on self-rightously about God and how he would smite us. Quoted the bible a lot.
Bob Dornan- crazy conservative who didn't like the "Euro-coms"

I've not been here very much because of 2nd trimester exams, and because of that, Asher has found new people to contradict.
Let's hope it stays that way. It was kinda annoying having him follow me around arguing against me.

Anyway, onto the point.

I think homosexuals are entitled to their orientation, however unintelligent it is. I think they are missing out though, girls are much better. Maybe a few visits to the WHW thread series could enlighten them. Which reminds me... its that time of the 20-40 day period where I make another thread... expect one soon. [/threadjack]

Now, time to argue against you!
Do you remember how much kids talked about sex when you were 13? Most boys think of girls as attractive by the age of 6 or so. By my age, nearly everyone has known their sexual orientation for at least 5 years.

Aren't you ~14 or something? If so, then

Sure, I looked at girls at that age. I'd even made out with a few of them. So had the later to be revealed as gay guys at my school.

I think they knew though. They just felt pressured to make out with girls instead.

Even the one that denies he knew he was gay until grade 10? He enjoyed the "company" of girls, but later found out how much more he enjoyed the "company" of other guys.

maybe he's just saying that because he doesnt want to look like an idiot. Imagine if you went out with several girls even though you knew you were gay because of pressure to act straight like other people. Then you told your friends in 10th grade. Wouldn't you feel stupid explaining that you went out with girls even though you knew you were gay?

I think I'm keeping him at bay... lets hope he logs off before asher comes back.

The heterosexist society would wish that even talking about sexual orientation, homosexuals, equal rights for gays, and so forth, to be tabboo for discussion with family and friends, and via the media.

The homophobia that is tolerated in today's society frightens a number of homosexuals into thinking they can become heterosexual (forcing themselves to behave as something they are not). That way, by convincing themselves they can change something that cannot be changed, they believe that they will not be beaten to death, harrassed in public, or be disowned by family and friends.

Trust me, you don't know your orientation when you're 13. You may know at the time, but it may or may not change.

When I was 13 I was convinced I was gay. But I was completely confused by that because I didn't act gay at all as I'd seen it on TV. I liked sports, I didn't enjoy shopping and fashion, I listened to rock music, etc. Then as I went farther into adolescence I realized that I liked women as well. And that's where I am today. But at 13 I thought otherwise.

I also have a friend who was the biggest slut when he was in 9th and 10th grade. Everyone was convinced he would be a pimp. All though high school he was always dating girls, he was on the football team, and all that. Much to my surprise the other week, I found out that he was gay. He claims he's attracted to both sexes and he finally realized it, but can't put up with the "illogical womenfolk" so he's into guys now. Go figure.

He'll probably flop back to straight again sometime.

Firedragon, there are those who "discover" religion everyday, those who of a sudden will reverse firmly-held beliefs, etc. Some of these people are middle aged and know a hell of a lot more about themselves than you or I. 13 year-olds tend to be, in general, rather confused with regards to who they are, and this certainly includes their sexual identity. You might feel yourself to be firmly-grounded young man, but it's ridiculous to dismiss the possibility that anything about your future is etched in stone.

Jesus Christ..... Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I really don't like Christians one reason being Kaak.

Kaak's the sort of guy who would take a **** on your new dining room table and wonder why you got pissed off.

What does he expect with a post that focuses on his "dislike" of homosexuals? Brownie points?

Especially when there's gays on Poly.

Now Kaak: I know that you're an uncivilized bastard but try to follow this chain of reasoning:

Taking a rational utilitarian aproach to this issue; I can safely say that I have good reason to be OK with gays(since homosexual and bisexual activities are largely inconsequential); whereas I have good reason to dislike the Christian religion; which among other things, promotes authoritarianism, idealism, dualism, reactionary movements, superstition, faith "healing",faith,Jonestown, bigotry,anti-science,pseudoscience and other general bad behaviors which have a negative impact of societies happiness and progress.

Gays don't affect me. Christians do.

I've never been followed around by a foaming gay on a bike screaming "satanist!" at me. I have by Christians.

I don't see many gays shooting up abortion doctors, promoting creationism, and fighting against scientific progress since to them its "playing God". I do see Christians.

Now I'm not bothered by gays being vocal about their homosexuality; since they need to be identifiable to eachother. I'd also rather not give the impression that I'm saying "Its OK to be gay; as long as you're gay the way I want you to be gay."

For Kaak who believes GOd will overlook his sins because Kaak has faith in God and believes in God:

quote:
James 2:19
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
2:20
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

I guess likewise the devil has faith so like you the Devil is saved. Halellujah!

BTW, despite what Xians think, a lot of bad stuff is in OLd testament law as well as New Testament and there is no New Testament scripture that says OT law no longer applies.

Lastly, I realize many Christians here like to talk about the degrees of faith and the different types of Christianity. To this I'll quote Jesus on the subject:

"1 Revelation 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
