To clarify: I meant if I didn't get the Virtues, I would then go to war to get the Xenodome. (Of course, it's a bit late after somebody else builds it.) Because, without the Virtues+Brood pits, FM gets to be too much a pain in the backside later. The additional living space is nice, too...puts my bases on a virtual par with all of yours, sizewise.
But, failing to get the Virtues, I'll be moving to Green/Wealth. Then the Xenodome (and the NA, actually) become much more valuable!
This is all coming to a head now because you have already begun to open up a significant lead. PTS can be devastaing when properly used...you have done so.
Still need to hear from Archaic. I'm not sure which way we ought to go from here.
Edit:PS. Flubber, when you posted that long post, did you also pass the turn?

so you 2 (or 3?) can argue over who gets the AV and xenoDome
More generally, I like the virtues as the Hive but never really stressed it as anyone else . . . and the xeno dome is really low on my list.
hmmmmm , for other games, I can see that I will have to re-evaluate those SPs since they seem to be held in such high regard. But for this game-- take-em
If no one objects then, I would take the PEG.

I didn't spend 20+ turns researching Progy Psych and now Adaptive Econ to give you the PEG, Flubber.
Henceforward, all technology exchanges with Morgan Industries will be done on a case by case basis. If anybody figures I owe them, email me.
You're all welcome to whatever projects you can snare, as far as I'm concerned. I'll do likewise.

As I said several times, I am willing to pick last and said I would take the PEG if "no one objects". Obviously you object and in a free for all will get the PEG. I don't mind but would have ceded the PEG to you in a selection process anyway in the name of keeping the alliance . . . its just that I recalled you mentioning the AV, Xeno, and HSA -- perhaps I just misunderstood or forgot..
As for giving away tech, I spent 15 years researching airpower and gave it away, which then put qantaga in the position to snare MMI first and the CBA since he had accrued research to apply. We are all in pretty much the same boat there-- I could have kept airpower and been the first to MMI ( in retrospect I am not terribly sad for snagging the CF that way) -- perhaps you saw me as a "poacher" but only my tech gift allowed him to get there first anyway -- ( and that was based on tech gifts and efforts from everyone else for that matter so I would have seen you or archaic as equally "entitled" )--
it seems like you plan to tech hoard from now on and its the end of the 4 way alliance. I am sad to see its passing and would still like to see if there are opportunities to keep it alive -- or perhaps a 3 way arrangement, . . guys ??. If it is to die then I will check the tech situation to see what is up and will email you accordingly if I feel there is an old tech you should give or ones I have that you are entitled to.

Sorry about the HSA inclusion -- I was posting based on my memory of what you said rather than scrolling back through posts -- all to get to the point that I would step aside on The PEG if we would happen to continue techsharing
That still leaves open the possibility of a free-for all for an SP among anyone who has not undertaken not to go for it. I promised not to go after the Neural Amplifier for example and on that theory anyone else requesting the gift of that tech should make the same promise.
As for the alliance, I am open to suggestions. But we need to define it somehow. All of us cannot win, after all and I think for an alliance to work it has to have some objectives and parameters. I'm not looking for much but an idea as to how and when our alliance ends, what our basic obligations are and some basic ideas as to how we handle SPs would be nice.

I have no objection to your acquisition of the CBA (my favorite) for the very reason you cite. I knew if I gifted you airpower that you would almost certainly get the CBA but that struck me as fair. I was just using it as an example against the idea that a person is more "entitled" to an SP if they are first to research its tech, if they have been gifted the prerequisites in a techshare environment.
I have the turn and should be able to play in 3-4 hours

On another question, I notice two players are now stockpiling in the Q-- My (often faulty) memory made me think this was not allowed in this game so I checked my game list and sure enough , I had a " NO" for stockpiling . I went back to the setup post by googlie and it says it IS allowed.
I did not notice anyone doing it before and now can't figure out which way we are playing. . . Either way is good with me . . . so which is it ??

Odder stuff this turn. A cult mindworm ambushed a former of mine three squares form Denver. I can accept one cult unit popping into Mexico by dimensional gate..two units in as many turns defies belief. I also discovered a Hive chopper in Denver. I don't want Hive aircraft in North America, thank you very much. Without even a 'By your leave, CEO.'!

HIVE NEWS AT NOON
. . . In a happier story today, A Hive aircrew, damaged and far from home, used the navigation feature knows as "Go to nearest airbase" to bring themselves to safety. They had anticipated that this would head to the nearest Hive base and that they might suffer further damage before seeing home. Instead, their equipment unerringly and accurately took them to the safe haven of Denver, without further incident. Denver is a base in western North America, previously unknown to the Hive, inhabited by a friendly nation known as the Morganites. The locals in Denver welcomed the Hive troops warmly, helping to care for their injuries.
HIVE ONE O'CLOCK NEWS
It appears that all is not happy with the story of the wayward HIve aircrew after all. While welcomed warmly by local residents, The visit by the Hive aircrew to the Morganite base of Denver has caused diplomatic repercussions at the highest levels. The Hive received a terse diplomatic note severing an alliance that had lasted 60 years.
A Hive government spokesman stated, " This matter was an error by the aircrew involved and we regret the incident. We are not suprised by the Morganites position on this matter as all the nations of the world will recall that they refused to share even basic map data as the rest of the alliance has done. Without such data, we were suprised to learn that a navigational feature, used in the attempt to get the crew home safely, would instead take them to an unknown base."
" We wish to thank the Morganites for their kind treatment of our crew and confirm that now that we have some concept of where the Morganites are, we will disable this auto navigation feature on our long range reconnaisance flights. WE will also refrain from entering Morganite airspace, but scouting outside such airspace will continue as we see knowledge of the nearby geography as necessary to our national security"

On the odd stuff, I figure the cult scout you saw came by dimensional gate and had captured the worm. I had it happen to me once before I even had doc: flex that a scout went through a dimensional gate and then popped an ogre. Then (about 2 turns later as I explored) I found out I was right in the middle of another human players empire (he had a large hollow center as he had followed the coast). He seemed to have a hard time believing the "peaceful intent" of my ogre LOL

"The Hive story is baloney!" a highly placed Morganite executive said today. He continued "We suspect the aircrew involved to be, in fact, highly trained members of Hive Special Operations. We further suspect that the purpose of this ostensibly erroneous and unannounced visit was to map Morganic territory, perhaps preparatory to some other nefarious operation. We view this incursion as a violation of trust of the highest order."
In other news, a Morganic Defense Ministry spokesman announced the imminent completion of Morganic Defense Force's (MDF) prototype aircraft.

Well, for whatever reason, we have an international incident and I have to go before the Joint Chiefs, the Chairman and the Office of Political Compliance so that they can each chew my head off and tell me how incompetent I am . . . Where are our wayward Lieutenants now ??"

" Well, I hear the chairman is pretty pissed about this whole thing so we can leave them there for now."

The defense minister left as Yang resumed his meditation, motionless and silent. The defense minister entered the command centre where the joint chiefs awaited him
" Ok people, we all know that the incident with those idiots in the 12th Helo have changed things. But the chairman does not want us to upset matters by any aggressive action but does want increased preparedness against attack. You should train up your units and increase patrols. I am changing our defense condition from green to Blue in the eastern theatre only. Remind your men that the Rules of engagement under this does not permit them to fire without specific command authorization unless fired upon. That is all. I leave it to you to ensure that there are no further incidents.
