Then what is the statement on electronics?
The remote control is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing in space flights. Without it is impossible to make space flight.

IBM even sent them manuals for some supercomputers in the 70s. |
Ahhh.... and in 1959 too, when we launched first satellite, and in 1961 when we launched a first spaceman? Really funny thinking you all have, if Russians doing something better than you are, then it means that they steal it from Americans. Really funny thinking, what for you pay money to CIA, FBI etc. then? It means that your counter-intelligence is bullsh!t, because it is so easy for Russians to steal all your glorious inventions. And btw, if you are so superior, then why your spies are constantly trying to steal schemes of our inventions? The last attempts of CIA (I mean Mr. Pope case) to steal the schemes of our torpedoes “Shkval” are the perfect example of this. Those torpedoes was invented and put in mass production in 80s, but USA have NOTHING equal in its arsenal.
quote: I'm sure the shuttle could have easily done it when it first launched. It just doesn't make sense to do so, the whole point was to put humans into space... |
No, shuttle couldn’t. Do you have any idea about landing after space flight? Americans were and still unable to create a fully automatic landing mode for their shuttles.

BTW Serb, be careful when praising 'advanced' Russian weapons. Lots of fancy weapons and techs introduced by the Soviets turned out to be little more then pipe dreams, especially when you take into account the limited Soviet/Russian capacity to build and maintain precision weapons. |
Well, if you talking about the SU-47 "Berkut" the fighter of fifth generation which picture I've posted on previous page, then I saw with my own eyes how this "pipe dream" flying, flying like space fighters from "Star Wars", aside I don't see how F-22 is flying, I've only see a pictures and read some articles about F-22. So, I prefer to trust my own eyes, and as for me, your F-22 is more the "pipe dream" than our fighter.
quote: Not true. All the NATO losses were from ground launched SAMs. In fact I believe that F-16s shot down all the Serbian MiG 29s that tried to intervene in the air war. |
Serbian Air forces have only FEW MIG-29 (five or seven don't remember exact number) of old versions, the majority of their AF consisted of very old MIGs, like Mig-21, Mig-23 etc. and you have ten times more planes then they are. Their AF has no chance to win vs such quntity of NATO planes. But as I remember they shoot down a couple of your planes.
As for SAM, yes I suppose you right and majority of you casalties was because of SAM, but again it was old, very old, soviet times SAM batteries- S-75. And even those old SAMs were able to shoot down your super modern planes like F-117 for example. If Serbs were able to buy a half of dozen of our more modern SAM like S-300 (btw, not the latest and not the most efficent version of our SAM), then your losses were absolutely different.
quote: The NATO coalition was mainly for political reasons. The US could have thumped Serbia from aircraft carriers and bases in the United States had it so wished. |
Yeah, like in Iraq in Yougoslavia, like in Afghanistan. Allways need allies. True sighn of great power.
quote: Landing is actually automated already. I swear to God.
Computers time thrusters to ensure they enter at the precise angle required, ILS systems line up the space shuttle with the runway and touch down.
I've seen TV shows on it. Really cool stuff. |
My congratullations.
When did you saw that show?
I saw the same show in 80s of last century, when Buran taked off, made a space flight and successfuly landed without any human on board.
P.S. I found a link on English about history of Buran. All claims that Buran is rip of NASA shuttle is bu.. I mean not true. We started creation of such system earlier.
Few qoutes: "SPIRAL is the project opening the history of aerospace systems creation. The work at the project began in A. Mikoyan Bureau 4 years after Gagarin's space flight."
"The SPIRAL test flight helped to solve the problem of non-stability at gliding with a high angle of attach during a preliminary study of landing for a new aerospace Systems. This problem has not been solved for experimental American lifting-body vehicles such as HL-10, M2-F2, X-38."

Yes, but the D-VII was the only one specified.
Reparation of the Fokker D.VII as the best fighter of Great War was confirmed in article IV of Versailles Treaty about Armistice: "… surrender in condition by the Germans armies of the following war material: … 1700 airplanes, fighters, bombers - firstly, all of the D-7's - and all the night bombing machines …".

Thanks Drekkus, I didn't know that.
Know anything about the allied plane that achieved air superiority? Sadly I don't, except that I know there was one.

The Sopwith Camel is the most widely known. It was a good plane but very difficult to fly, spinned easily.
The Sopwith Snipe, it's follow up, is regarded as the best allied plane. But it only went into service late in the war, so had less impact.

Yup, the Snipe was great a/c. A Canadian ace, William Barker, won a VC while flying a Snipe. He took on 60 FokkerD.VII

Yup, the Snipe was great a/c. Canadian ace William Barker won a VC while flying a Snipe.
He was on patrol Oct. 27, 1918 when he spotted a two-seater a/c. He shot it down, but then got attacked by a Fokker D.VIIs and was wounded in the right leg. Despite the wound, he shot it down. But then he found himself surrounded by a circus of Fokker D.VIIs. He fought his way through and sent two of them spinning down out of control. But he was wounded a second time, this time in his other leg.
The loss of blood from the wounds caused Barker to pass out. His plane went into a dive, but he regained consciousness only to find himself in the middle of another pack of Fokker D.VIIs. He took on one and shot it down, but in the process was wounded a third time, this time in arm.
He passed out again, the plane goes in a dive and he regains consciousness only to find himself in yet another group of Fokker D.VIIs. He shot down another one and then put his plane in a dive to make it to friendly territory. A fourth group of Fokker D.VIIs tried to cut him off, but he broke through and crash-landed on the Allied side. He survived the crash.
Observers estimate that Barker took on 60 Fokker D.VIIs by himself and was responsible for downing six a/c during the fight (including two that into a spin and crashed).

The same thing Su-47 could do. That's why both of them are fighters of fifth generation, their tactical technical caracteristics are much different from modern (fourth generation) planes.

Try 1999 Yugoslavia. The few OLD versions of Mig 29 shoot down your planes. At nowdays Airforces of countries are upgrade not only because of new types of planes, but mostly by new electronics, weapons systems etc. If NEWEST modifications of Mig or Su were used by Serbs (regeretfuly they wer unable to upgrade their AF in proper time) then results of your campaign were different. Anyhow you have ten times more planes then Serbs. USA a real great country with superior Air Forces and army unable to handle even with weakest opponents by it's self, always create a coalition. this is the sighn of real great power.
|
When did MiG-29's shoot down are planes over Yugoslavia? This never happened. We lost 3 aircraft to SAM fire.
The serbs tried to send 4 MiG-29's and 2 MiG-21's to Bosnia early on the war. F-15's shoot all of them down. No losses to there own.
quote: Blah...Blah....Blah......
BULLSH!T. Especialy about MIG-29. MIG-29 one of the best planes ever and of course it match up to F-15 and SU-27 is superior then F-15.
|
Thats a load bullocks. MiG-29 has its advantages of manuevrability . The F-15 can shoot your manuevering ass down from 30 miles away. Before you can even see us.
quote: And remember how your specialists were shoked about Mig-25 electronics, FoF, etc and weapons when one our traitor land it in Japan in 80s?
Ah.. Almost forget who do you think created your stealth planes?
Soviet engineer Ufimtsev, who immigrated in USA in 60s |
Ufimtsev great thinker at Skunkworks did indeed create Stealth. And had alot to do with F117 designs. But the whole concept was learned of it from the Nazi's...who accidentaly stumbled upon it and didnt realize it. They thought they had lost there prototype aircraft. Because they lost radar contact. It turned out ; unknowningly, it was the first stealth aircraft.
Anyway. Ya the communists thought Ufimsev was an idiot. Thats why he came here.

Shocked? We were suprised at the MiG-29. And the MiG-25. but the facts are, while the MiG-25 is the fastest airplane. It cant go that fast cause of G-force. And the MiG-25 electronics are still lacking.Soviet Radar's and Computer systems are pale in comparison to European and American standerds.

quote: Indeed. A pathetic show of force once again for Russian arms...how many more wars? Arab-Israeli wars, Gulf war, Libya Bombing, Allied force. How many wars until you finally admit you are WAY behind the game in terms of tactics and equipment. |
Arab-Israeli wars? WTF are you talking about? I think you gone start telling the stories how far superior Phantoms shoot down Migs again. Save your stories for yourself, I have absolutely different stories about this war.
Gulf war? Well may be, but Iraq don’t have modern MIGs, it AF consisted of old models and of course old models of MIG are no match for modern models of F-15, F-16, F-18, as well as old versions of your fighters are no match for modern versions of our fighters. For example do you know that Mig-29 has about dozen of versions? But I wonder if Iraq has any Mig-29, the majority of its AF consisted of old, “ancient” Migs.
Allied force? Which one?
And finally, all those wars you mentioned there was no direct fights of latest version Russian fighter vs. latest version of American fighter. The examples of such wars that come to mind are first- Korean War, second Vietnam War. Ask your veterans of those wars who survived the fight against Soviet fighters what they think about Russian planes.
quote: The stealth was hit with a blindfired SA-2. A large telephone sized missile. The serbs would not dare turn on there ground radars. The Iraqi's will tell you all about the HARM missiles we send, when they turn on there radars. |
First your officials (not you personally, American generals said this when Stealth was down) said it was mistake of the pilot and that it was technical crash, now you saying that it was hit by mysterious “telephone sized missile”. When you saying the truth then or now? Large telephone sized missile? Where did you get this, it sound very funny.
quote: Iraqi MiG-29's fired a total 150 radar guided Soviet made AAM's during the air war. None hit...and moreover. THe only Iraqi air-to-air shootdown was an idiot who shot down his Mirage wingman ; and then later crashed into the ground. |
Clearly you might believe in what you want, Iraq’s has different statistic and I don’t see any reason to prefer in Americans stats. But as I’ve said earlier Iraq has no chance to win against such enemy alone, as well as Yugoslavia, their Air Forces were equipped with old planes.
quote: No ; I believe it was either a Pair of F-15's or 16's. |
Glad that you said it was not a single Spit fighter vs. dozen of Mig-31. The next thing you gone say that NATO Air Forces and Yugoslavia’s Air Forces have equal number of planes. Face it man you have ten times more planes than Serb’s, there is no much honor in fight of ten against of one.
