How can you say that one's gender determines one's worth and right to live!?

SOCIETY IN GENERAL. That means everyone that speaks the language. Doesn't mean McDonalds, CBS. It means everyone. Why do we have to censor?

Well that isn't very chivalrious . Don't get me wrong, I think it is very, very, very good that you don't fall to the trappings of chivalry.

I gotta go as Laura and I are taking the little Lady out for a drive, but I would like to mention that the section about "accept pinches, hugs, etc." was in reference to how your child should perform during introductions. The book goes on a few sentences later to assert that the above was ONLY for introductions and such behaviour by adults at any other time should not be tolerated by your child, even to the point of yelling and kicking.

Sorry 'bout the confusion. I'll go edit the post now...

Plenty of people are more comfortable with their hats on. When they take them off, they are less comfortable.

Because they aren't used as often. It's like how if women went topless everywhere, foreplay wouldn't be as fun for many guys, which would in turn be bad for the girls.

quote:
Plenty of people are more comfortable with their hats on. When they take them off, they are less comfortable.
They are comfortable with the had because it is seen as a divider. It is like crossing your arms. In the media, people with hats are usually far more secretive than people without them. This of course does not include sports movies, aside from the Natural.

quote:
But they are your elders. You have to respect them as a chivalrous man.
That has never been part of chivalry. If the elders are bad then they need to be disposed of.

That's a circular argument. They aren't used as often because they are considered 'bad'. Why are they considered that way? Because they aren't used as often?!

This is like paranoia. People with hats are more secretive? I don't buy that for a second. Why are hats a divider, but more clothes considered good (like a suit over shorts and t-shirt).

It's not circular. People want words with great impact. This can't happen if every little kid says them whenever they feel like it.

quote:

They aren't more secretive necessarily, it is just that is how it come out to some people. Hats are different from other clothing because they are near the face. It is like having a collar up.

Apoc, I don't think THIS is why the words were banned. I think they were banned because Americans are prudes and don't like words for sex, and for some reason people don't like words for defication.

And what's wrong with having a collar up!!

Since I have long sideburns, does that mean I'm a divider .

My, you need to revist Mideval History 101 . If the King was bad, you still had to follow him, because you were a knight. NO insubordination. The King was placed there by God.

Your reason is part of that.

Nothing is wrong with a collar up, it is just about the affect it has on people. I have long sideburns too. This isn't about being a divider, but more of keeping to yourself.

There were ways to get rid of kings, or at least making the best out of a bad situation. Some things they didn't view as necessarily bad though. And we are talking about Southern chivalry. We would have kicked Davis if the war lasted a little longer.

Unbelievable how this is a reply t oa thread with the title "When can I call myself a Southerner"

Note to diary: a thread with more than 40 repleis will most liekly be threadjacked and is worth having a look into despite a more than boring thread title.

It doesn't matter what you think. People react to the words that way and you can't really change that. You must be polite.

I don't say hey in big cities to everyone, but in a wood you can say good afternoon to anyone you meet.

Same for mountain paths, elevators in houses, stairs in houses, local offices, school teachers (even though many of them never reply ) etc.

Knights, however, don't say hey. They take their sword and beehad you. At least they do in some RPGs.
