Yoda and I had a good start -- to turn 45. Yoda is already ahead in city count $#@! It looks like it is going to be a tough game for quinns.
Yoda, I can play Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, if you can make it, until about 8:00 p.m.
It is a pity that there are no other games starting. Or if they are, it would be great if they could post here! |
Hi Quinns,
I should be able to make it Wed. night... gamesrv server at 6pm.
And yes, I agree that the other players should make a point of getting some action in and posting. Does it matter who wins or loses? It's just a game. If you've signed up for the tournament, get on with it. If you want to drop out, don't keep others wondering what is happening, just do it! Life goes on.

Alright Yoda, sounds good. I will be at gamesrv at 6:00 p.m. PDT unless something unforeseen happens. My turns will begin to slow down a bit now that we have multiple cities.

Okay John (Yoda) thanks for posting. I just now saw your post after waiting on gamesrv for 15 minutes.
After much thought, I also am withdrawing from this tournament.
Sorry. This is about the 6th or 7th time that I have reserved time to play this tournament only to be postponed for one reason or another. Though I know the players have good reasons for not showing up, it is now becoming kind of ridiculous. Combine that with absolutely NO other activity from the other players, except Yoda, and I believe that some of the earlier "nay sayers" about this tournament were right. It will not work.
Anyway, that is my explanation for leaving. I am out. Good luck to the rest of the players, if ever this tournament really does get off the ground.
Solver, please find a replacement for me in this tournament. Thanks.
I am willing to play anyone in this tournament via pbem. That way we do not need to schedule a time to play. Just play when you can. I have two successful one-on-one starts with pbem now and I think that is the only way we can really play against each other.

Sad, but true, this is the reason I never got into GL..but I wish the best to the rest of you, and Yes, i have about as much experience playing as anyone here, NOT as good mind you but have seen and chatted with some of the best, hooking up for a tournament this size, well, Good thinking and best intentions ..but we all know that the road to H E L L is paved with many a good intention!
Best of Fortunes all, see all you Greats in the servers and playing just good old games, like we have done over the years!

Quinns, I'm sad to hear that you are pulling out. I sure hope it wasn't because of the problems you and I had (I had that is...). My hard drive went on me and I am in the process of replacing it. I didn't lose very much (if anything) from my hard drive. Seems just the sectors that had some of the system files went.
I will have it up and running later tonight I suspect, but with leaving tomorrow for a couple of days means I won't be able to play until next week.
Please re-consider staying in the tourney. It may take a bit of time to finish, but I believe it will still be fun games. If you are dead set on not continuing, I can understand. In either case, I hope we can continue and finish the game we started (for fun or tourney).
I suspect what happened for most people that signed up is that they got burned out. They probably practiced the map and finally got kind of bored with it. Too bad that the mention of a tournament stopped so many people from playing. Other than Paul late at night, or Dr. Doom, I haven't seen anyone from the tournament playing at all. Who knows, perhaps this is the end of CTP???

Damnation... really sorry to see you leave, Quinns. Hope you give it another consideration, as it would be a great shame to see another of the greats leave before a single game is completed.
Yoda, good luck in fixing your PC stuff.... I know how it feels.
Filix, are you still staying here? In any case, see you in Civ 3 PBEM, too .
No, I don't think this is the end of CtP, but we must all agree that CtP is no longer a current game, and we're basically almost the only people playing it. And due to problems with scheduling online games, here's what we get. This is why I strongly prefer PBEM - online games are hard to schedule, and things like this tend to happen.

No Yoda, it wasn't because of your problems that I left the tourney. It was just a cumulation of events that led to my decision. We can continue our game some time, that would be fine. But I am out of the tournament. Sorry to say. You may be right as to the reasons why no other players are posting or playing.
