He didn't say he'd win in 5 minutes, only that it would be over that fast. I'm sure if he played suicidally enough he could maintain that (so long as Doom didn't play slow deliberately).

On a more on-topic note, it might take 6 months to finish a PBEM game but don't forget that you can play all your games at once. If every game were started PBEM then the whole thing could potentially be over in the time it takes to play one game (well, actually it'll obviously be slower if you're playing that many but you get the idea). I would never have suggested such a thing before, but from the way things are going at the moment it might be the quicker option. Gav and I played to turn 240-odd in just 2 months IIRC. At best we made 10 turns per day (primarily because I was online 16 hours a day with not much else to do... But that's not the point ).

It is a type of chess called "Five Minute Chess" or "Blitz" where each player has 5 minutes to make ALL of their moves. If you go past five minutes without a checkmate ... you lose ... regardless of the position of the game.

Perhaps you have a better explanation for why so many of the tournament contestants seem to have vanished.

Not only is it a pity if this great tourny died prematurely, I also need stuff to write news items about There hasn't been a CtP1 news item in almost 3 weeks, at this pace the number of pageviews of the CtP1 section is never gonna continue it's rising line of the last 6 months (last month the number was almost equal to the number of CtP2 pageviews)...

I am GMT + 02:00 and I prefer to play late evening/early night, starting like 20:00-21:00 my time. For 4-5 hours the most.

I think North American West Coast is GMT + 8. So 20:00 would be 14:00 my time. I have a meeting on Saturday afternoon, but I'm not sure what time. I won't know until tomorrow. Also, I am suppose to go to a play Saturday night (19:30 my time). So, if I don't have the meeting or have it finished by 14:00, I'm game to play for 4 or 5 hours.

Oops... Is NA West Coast GMT - 8? Hmmm... I think so. So 20:00 your time would be 10:00 my time. Your in Greece, right? I should be able to make that on Saturday except for the meeting. I will hopefully find out today and post.

Yoda and I played last night I was slightly ahead until my box overheated and we lost the game. Quite entertaining yoda is a really nice person and it was great challange to play him. This is what CTP is all about so get off your yayas people get some games going. I envy you all this tourney is going to be quite a lot of fun.

Win or lose you will know you put your all into it and you will need to. The idea here is to find the best in the world yet the fun factor is going to rival that I garantee it. So get out there have some fun play hard play fair and enjoy yourselves

I was just invited to some birthdays near midnight, my time so if I see no sign from Paulno1 I will attend that party

Pete, I think we arranged to test the map today around 20:00 GMT, so if Paul doesn't appear by 18:30 GMT I could meet you at 19:00 GMT for 1 hour and then get ready for the party.

That would move my rendezvous with Paulno1 to next Friday or Saturday (his call) unless of cource he posts here in time and let me know whether he can play or not.
