If you are wondering why this poll has been posted for voting on again, it is because some have question the results of the original. These people continue to assert that the first poll is outdated in light of more recent polls taken. I am sure they will post more of their thoughts here, but out of fairness I will outline their argument:
We have ministers who post pictures and information on all the happenings of our game. We have specialized reporters, whose main job it is to keep people informed and show them what is happening in the game. If we send the save file (via e mail and to members only) then those people may play ahead in the game, and spoil everything about it to us. We must keep the save file to only the elected officials and the reporters, to make sure NO ONE plays ahead.
My thoughts:
If you vote to with hold the save file, you may never get a chance to look at this game in civilization. Just think about that.
Since that save files are sent via e-mail, and to members only, there is very little chance someone is going to try to "spoil" the game for us, we are all civilized . If someone does publically try to "spoil" the game, Markos can track their IP and expose who they are, and they would probably get banned from the forum.
"What about those who play ahead in secret, and dont tell anyone?" Well then, what is the problem? If no one knows they are doing it..........then how is that spoiling it for others, hmm? Technically they are not allowed to do it, but if someone like paneg plays ahead (unlikey anyone will actually do it, but just if) then he can't spoil it for us or tell us he played ahead or els he will get kicked out of the demo game and maybe in trouble with the boards. Will he risk that? Will anyone? We are here to play a game and not cause trouble.
It's interesting to note that other games like this have had open .savs and no one has looked ahead. It is really something that only exists in some paranoid people's head. We are all Civilized here as a I said, we can be trusted .
Someone offers a reporter unit in exchange for our ability to ever view the save file again. I say no thanks, I can have the reporter thing anyway
One last point: Vote yes to the save file, because, someday down the road you might just want to have a look to see where we're at. Even those that run for offices won't be in forever, you just may want to have a look in on our game someday, and it would be a disheartening experience to be told, "Sorry, you are restricted from viewing .sav files". This is your game, this is my game, it's all of ours, and we should all be allowed to get involved if and when we want.

Well, according to my suggestions, yes, it is corrupt. The first post should simply explain the post. I still am not sure what was wrong with the first poll. Again, I see issues like this as being obvious reasons why we need specific polling rules. Otherwise we'll have to poll everything five times, and anyone could start a new poll if it doesn't go their way, which is arguably what is happening here. (It should be mentioned that I am not accusing anyone of intentionally trying to alter votes or anything like that, just that people tend to take issue with polls that don't go their way. I may have done that when I started this whole issue, it's hard to say.)

Well, yes you are right, that is perhaps one of the reasons MWIA made this comment:
"I have no problem with this poll - thanks for putting it up. "
It is not my intention to alter results, but the accusations were that the results of this poll were outdated due to recent changes (adding the reporter unit). So we will poll it again
The results will be added into our Code of Laws

This isn't an official poll then, 'cause in the first post the poller displayed his personal opinion. If we use this as an unofficial poll however, much like popular vote compared to how an election turns out to try to talk the officials into accepting our arguments, then more power to ya.
[EDIT]Just realized that this isn't technically invalid from my poinsts, as that poll has yet to close.[/EDIT] |
Some people astound me. How many times do you want to vote on this freakin' poll????
I got an idea let's make voting on this poll a game in and of itself!!!!!!! Every member has to post the poll, and we all vote on it. Now, once all 107 have posted the poll, we go to MWIA and start right back at #1.
Sound fun? Post it for yourself if you like, you well get the same results. People are not stupid enough to vote away their own rights.
Sheesh, I even tried to make the argument of why it should NOT be distributed right in the first post.....
But I guess you can never please "all the people all the time".
