I mean particles. The number of atoms might not be that much smaller (maybe only factor of 10) since almost all matter is atomic hydrogen.

How exactly would one utilise quantum entanglement?
You need to transport the other pair to the destination by "normal" means, don't you?
Reading here, it would seem to me that each entangled pair is only good for a single teleportation, 'cuz when you entangle the teleportee with the 'sender' particle, you disentangle it from the 'receiver'.
And when teleporting anything bigger, wouldn't you need a HUGE amount of entangled pairs?

You use quantum entanglement as natural way to encode and decode data. You transport "info" via light beam. Using quantum entanglement makes it easy to get exact copy without having to individually process all the bits of required data manually.

You make two assumptions there. First of course you assume a soul. Second you assume the soul would not be transferred to the DoppleDuck.

Which brings up an interesting thoological point. Will the Dopplegangers have new souls or will they be souless since you and Stefu are obviously assuming the soul would not be tranferred to the Doppleganger. If a new soul is generated just how long till we fill up heaven with Doppleganger souls since such a teleportion system could result in multiple souls being generated each day per soul producing body.

I'm merely trying to illustrate a point. What comes out of the teleporter (i know nothing "comes out") is a copy of you, not you. You are destroyed in the teleportation process. Why should your "soul," for lack of a better term, be transferred?

Because its the same exact thing as went in that comes out. The only reason for thinking other wise is the concept of a soul. One electron is not only much like another its EXACTLY like another except for position, velocity and spin and those are transfered in the teleport.

You are your brain and the memories in it. If its that is transferred to another place its still you no matter the method of transport. If copying were possible the issue would be rather bit less clear cut.

And you know, we're arguing about something that (A) will probably never be an issue in our lives (though I never thought I'd see teleportation of any kind) and (B) cannot be proven, because the only person that could possibily ever settle the debate would have to be quite irrevocably dead. Only because it was or is to be a quantum effect that it should be exact. This is not true for the techique in Star Trek which clearly has a disasembly and even a storage of some sort as it can take time to reasemble. Sometimes even decades as in the case of Scotty in one of the very few STNG episodes that I ever saw.

There is no storage of matter, just information. All the information of the subject being transported was recorded and if it was lost... so long for the person.

Well, you should watch TNG. Much better, in almost all respects, than TOS was. (IMO of course)

This has to be one of the scariest scientific discoveries I have ever heard of.

Has anyone considered the weapons potential of teleportation? When has technology never been applied to weapons of war?

This is a very bad move. They should destroy all the labs and data and, perhaps, even the scientists involved in the project.

Actually we could all beam ouselves up to the future, keep our body info stored in a PC, and restore when we get sick or too old for our liking.
