I understand you. So, we are not speaking about a teleportation in the style of Stark Trek, but a tele-cloning. But in case of the fax you have paper and ink as a raw material, What raw material would you need to reproduce a person?. I cannot imagine the process

If consciousness is just all of your sensory input, then we need to find a way to have complete and total sensory deprivation, no touch, no sound, taste, smell, hearing, sight, none of it (or sense of balance and kinesithics (sp?)). And then, awhile later, give the senses back to the person. See if they thought about anything. But I could just be speakng complete and utter nonsense.

They have at my hospital, installed signs on the cielings reading upwards as an experiment to see if Near death expierences have some truth to them. Since most report hovering above there body before the tunnel, they couldnt miss the sign. The Signs has a random message every 3 seconds. So far in the last 4 years, 72 people have died and came back. Almost all reported near death expierences, however. Only 9 people saw the sign and were able to recite the messages. Those nine had been dead for 5+ minutes. The others, said they had near death expierences who were only gone 30 seconds or so. none reported seeing the sign.
I know, unrelated. Just wanted to share it . Saw it on the news a week ago. The signs had been secret until now. So maybe theres some truth to the existence of the soul. Doesnt matter much for me anyway cause I dont believe in god.

Let's try a thoughtplay. After someone's used the self-replication suicide machine, it's left on and produces another replica. Does that one have the original's consciousness? |
Thats not the kind of teleportion that is being done. It isn't making a copy. It actual teleportation. In fact someone has allready proved that a perfect copy cannot be made. Of course they did not prove that a perfect copy is needed for a human for the copy to be indistingushable from the original.

Your conciousness is merely an emergent property of the wetware. Its not some mystical non-corporal thing that is outside physical law.

Not in an permanently expanding universe. As the universe exands things get farther and farther part. Eventually there is no more interaction between particles.

It takes no time from the point of view of the particles involved IF they move at the speed of light. At least I think it would be that based on the case for light. Light literaly does not experience time. The time from point A to point B for a photon is exactly zero. Not for something outside the photon but for the photon itself.

I remember reading about this long time ago. I might be wrong, but they said it only works with light and not matter.

I'm now thinking, the method is called "teleportation". From here one can conclude that a Stefu is instantly moved, not recreated and destroyed. Tell me, who are the OTF scientists, and why aren't they here?
But Stefu, why would you mind being destroyed? What do you care about the replica? I understand what you mean very well, but for you it will be essentially the same, because your consciousness is carried over to the replica. While it might kill you, the end result has no difference whatsoever from the original Stefu.
Again, that's in case you truly get killed. Now we just need OTF scientists.

You don't have to trick them. IT IS THE SAME MATTER. There is also no gap in time. That is why it is teleportation. If there was a delay, you would be MOVING information, and movement is limited in speed (speed of light). Whereas here you are just changing the wave function of the teleportee. The wave function is the function from which you infer position and state (matter/wavelength, energy...). This is also why you can perfectly teleport into the void. You don't deassemble/reassemble matter.
Of course, if you insist on thinking that matter exists independently of wave functions, you cannot understand neither quantum physics nor teleportation.
Do you know Schrodinger's cat?

It is more moving than create and destroy, but it is not movement because it is instantaneous.
The idea is a wave function describes the probability of a given particle being somewhere. A typical particle has say 99% chance of being at some point and 1% a bit off somewhere else (that is why you can never observe something with 100% accuracy, you will either know the position correct and have uncertainty on the speed or vice versa because the wave function is never a peak in a single point). Teleporting, as far as I understand it, is stretching the wave function so that you get a probability of being in two places far away and then you switch the probabilities from one point to the other. The problem is understanding that you are not somewhere but actually everywhere with a near-100% probability of being where you stand is a bit mind-boggling. Schrodinger's cat is 50%alive 50%dead, yet neither dead nor alive till you open its box to look in.
Now it is ONE way you could teleport things. I am not sure it is how they did it or if it is feasible. As I said, my quantum physics courses are old and I don't know which technique they used with the laser.
