Well, I don't think the USA sucks...It's a good team, better than ever in fact, and had a good chance of getting a tie against Germany, if not for Kahn.

And a penalty that the referee didn't recognize, but there's no guarantee it would have been a goal...Still, another example of poor referees in this WC.

They will never be equal.

Yes, because from your incredible investigation, even if nuclear war devestates the rest of the world and Spain can only send a team of mutant cockroaches, the US will still lose because they can never be equal. Yup, we'll be better! Just you wait!

To get rid of what? Mistakes? Referees?

I suppose the FIFA is as good a judge of referee qualifications as any of those backseat drivers.

That's worse. How do you resolve disagreements between referees? Who can blow whistles? What happens if there is a conflict in the referees' decisions?

You simply aren't making it better by adding more people.

Would it be churlish to point out that the expression "fair and square" is being used to describe a team who, in the latter half of the Ireland match, attempted to flatten Niall Quinn at every corner?

We already are equal. We got as far as you did. We beat quality teams like Portugal and Mexico to get where we did. And we drawed in regulation the same team you did (Korea)- and yes the referees tended to favor Korea in that game too.

You can think Spain is better on paper all you want, but games aren't played on paper. And we did just as good as you did.

It should not be long before the USA is much better at soccer then Spain. Soccer is increasing in popularit here, and we have an increasing hispanic population, and they do care about soccer. Combine that with America's natural sports talent (Most Gold Medals at the Olympics), and we will become a soccer superpower, just as we are a military superpower(unlike Spain).

If refs favoured USA in 94 like they do Korea today.. USA would be '94 world cup champion for sure! (not to mention now when they play even better football)

It is easy to win when you have goals dissalowed from match to match or playing against 9 men

Actually we should of beat Korea 3-0. So we are not equal to the US.

Yeah ****ing right. My country is soccer fanatical. The US should stick to its own sports because it sucks at soccer. I mean sure they did okay against Germany and that is because Germany's playing performance was poor.

The US is no where near the quality of Spain when it comes to soccer. So eat dirt.

Of course, the US is better. At least when we lost we lost to a top soccer power, Germany(Which Spain is not). And were I a whiner like you are, their is plenty of refereeing that could have been complained about in the USA-Korea game.

"YOU DIDN'T DO AS GOOD. YOU GOT YOUR BUTT KICKED BY POLAND. P-O-L-A-N-D! HAHAHAHA."

Poland won their UEFA group. They really weren't that bad, they were just in a really tough group with Portugal(the 5th ranked team) and Korea(in the semifinals now). We had one off game.

"Yeah ****ing right. My country is soccer fanatical."

Yes but the USA is bigger and is better at sports, and we are getting more soccer fanatics in this country.

"YOUR COUNTRY WILL NEVER BECOME A SOCCER SUPERPOWER. NEVER! Leave that to Europe and Latin America."

Nice Bald Assertation there. You have no arguments, so you just scream out that I am wrong. The fact is Euro-Latino dominance will come to an end- Asia has already gotten much stronger, and CONCACAF is getting stronger too. The USA is already one of Soccer's elite, making into the round of 8, and will soon have one of the best sides in the entire world. Spain will just decline.

Got spare money?

It's a pity that Giancarlo will deprestige Spain and all of us who so far find the refereeing of the world cup to be a disgrace to football.

But the refereeing in too many games so far has been disgusting... making one mistake, ok. Two mistakes, don't push it... six or seven, or more... well, something should be done about it.

Once again....USA doesn't suck, but I doubt they are seriously interested in becoming a soccer power, even if they might have the potential...Only time will tell if they do, not speculations thrown around in forums.

Yes, soccer's getting more popular in the USA, but still can't compete with the other sports that have decades of traditional following in the country.

You can argue that the USA might already be as good as the other 7 teams...Maybe...We'll see when FIFA updates the soccer rankings after the cup, and if the USA shows consistency in its performance from now on. Until the squads meet each other in a fair match, it's all up in the air.

"You lost against Poland. We beat Poland. Tells you something."

You didn't beat Poland in the WC though. All that it tells you is that we had one bad game.

"Spain won't decline."

Europe as a whole will now decline. With the rise of the sport in Asia and in North America, and probably in Africa if they can rebound from this tournament, the entire WC brackets will be better, so of course the European teams would be worse comparatively. So far this year only 3 teams in the round of 8 were European and 1 team in the round of 4 was(4 teams and 2 teams if you count Turkey)- lower then usual numbers. Europe will decline in soccer just like it did militarily.

Oh really?

If you look at our first two games in the World Cup we got 3-1 in favor. On the last game in the first round we got 3-2 in favor (against South Africa). Spain is much better than the US team on comparsion per se. The US was quite pathetic in the first round, only doing marginally better than Portugal because Portugal itself was having a bad day. But Spain has been improving for many years and finally had its best performance since 1950. It was sad we were cheated out by a corrupt referee system... and an investigation will be launched into the bribery and corruption the Koreans did.

South Korea = Land of Corruption worse than Argentina
